Thank you! Yes we watched many RUclips videos and tried to learn from Cesar Millan as well. Most of Toby's tricks were built around actions and positioning that he would naturally do himself. That combined with treat and verbal affirmation has been what Toby needs. Toby loves to learn and is eager to try new things.

I would recommend finding small treats that you can use to reward quickly when your dog is successful. This is very important and you only have a few seconds for that reward to imprint in connection to the trick. Cesar Millan taught us this from his videos.
Very smart! I’m wanting to teach mine to pray when he sits in his chair at our dinner table, but I don’t know how to go about it, he gets mad at me when I tilt his head to pray....how would you recommend doing it?
That is a tough one. The only trick that we used positioning on was "BANG". It took a while and rewarding with treats quickly was important for Toby. Also not continuing when Toby would get confused was important.
Just wanted to let you know that doing sit pretty is really bad for dachshunds. It puts a lot of strain on their backs, as they are very fragile, and can lead to IVDD, a disease 1 in 4 dachsunds have. This disease is common enough without already putting strain on their backs as you have done. IVDD can permanantly injure them. Hope you will be careful with Toby and wish that he lives a long and healthy life.

I wish my dachshund could do that but the only thing she does is sleep, bark at birds and beg me to walk her when my dad wants to take her for a walk
