I loved the video on keeping up with their fur. Love the background noise of the dogs playing. It’s always a happy sound to hear our fur babies playing.
That's a nice thick coat for the winter. My dachshund had a flatter coat, but had some of that wooly undercoat too. You're really handling that dog good, he's so calm and easy.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have a miniature shaded cream who is neutered and now I know why his fur can get much too thick and fuzzy. It is less smooth than an intact male. A slicker brush alone does not do the job although it does prevent mats for the most part . I bought a grooming stone and his fur looks much better. I will get a rake next after seeing your video. I reduce his "puff balls" on his legs (they can get very thick and puffy) with thinning sheers but the rake will help here, I think.
Thank you for making this video! I have a miniature dachshund intact boy and his fur is getting so long and beautifully but no matter what brush i use it never seems to really seems to work for him, what are those brushes you were using? I'd love to try those and see if they work!
Hi! Love this video - so many good tips, especially for me as a first-time longhair owner (we already have a short-hair). We recently adopted our long-hair girl and I'm just getting into learning how to groom. Would you be able to share what set of scissors you use? There are so many to choose from and its a bit overwhelming. Duncan is SO cute! Thanks
Thank you very much for this video, well presented :) Our long haired red has a spay coat which has overgrown which I admittedly put down to not enough maintaining. The fluff feels like a complete overcoat now, is excessive and as you mention - is predominately around the legs and shoulders. Would you suggest the same kind of rake to get him back on track? I have thinning sheers as well and also wondered if I should start with the thinning sheers before or after a big session of using the rake? Thanks.
I would actually start with the rake and do little section by little section. You'll be able to see the healthy coat underneath. Id use the scissors for shaping and trimming behind the ears and feet.
Such beautiful Doxies! How do you keep their weight down? My boys are fat and need to lose 2-3 pounds and they always want what I'm eating. I feel so bad that they're heavy but I also feel guilty eating in front of them. 😢
I have a long hair doxie, male, neutered. He has REALLY curly hair in his lower legs- like a poodle! I brush him well & he gets bathed with a shampoo for curly dogs. Gets good healthy food. Lately his coat is dull & I don't understand it unless shampoo for curtly hair causes that. Mats terribly with regular dog shampoo. Do you have any suggestions please?
How can I add shine my cooper coat I’ve tried salmon oil in his food, but it doesn’t help. I’ve also tried coconut oil, but it seems to make him look sticky
Sometimes it's about getting the old dead hairs out of the coat and doing deep conditioning treatments. He may need a significant amount of hair stripped out in order to let the healthy hair shine. Feel free to message me on Facebook with pictures of him and I can try to help.
It's an Andis rake, there are 2 sizes, fine toothed and coarse toothed, I start with the coarse, then fine and finish with a shedding block, kinda looks like a punice stone.

Thank you. He's an absolute sweetheart and loves his grooming sessions
I love how he won't look at the camera or the groomer, almost like he's tolerating it all. Same coloring as my little girl
Yes, he's exceedingly tolerant of my videos 🤣

You're so welcome! Good luck with your boy
@@sunflowerdachsThank you. The coat rake I have now bought is working to make his coat sleeker and far less fuzzy.
What brand is it? Thx @@cherylwatson4293
Duncan is a very handsome fellow indeed.
Thank you so much 💖
Duncan is so well behaved. I was wondering if you use a cordless little trimmer like a peanut to get the ear hair or do you scissors
I use blunt end scissors... The trimmers tickle them too much.
If you go to my website... I have an ear trimming video. Www.sunflower-dachshunds.com
What a beautiful, unusual colour coat Duncan has.
Thank you so much

would love a video that is more than just brushing. Like how to trim.

Why is their neutered coat different? What a beautiful Dachshund you have.....thank you very much for this important information!
Because the lack of hormones causes their undercoat to overgrow and can also affect the texture.
So cute!
Doxey is looking like...is this neccessary?
Great video. Could you tell us where you purchased the rake???

This is my favorite rake
Hi! What coloring is your pup? I have a doxie with the same but I’m not quite sure what it’s called! Thank you! ❤
He's a shaded cream.

You could keep some veggies to give them while you're eating .... Or stuff a kong with some yogurt and freeze it.
Hello! Do these pups shed bad?
They do shed but not too badly.
That Dachshund reminds me of Daphne who is Crusoe's Sister

He may need his coat thinned out and a deep conditioning treatment. Sometimes their coat hold onto undercoat because of being fixed.

Does a spay coat lose softness? How exactly is it different?
The undercoat overgrows. It's more fuzzy and dull.
My girl is 2 she doesn’t have that thick hair. I’m guessing it comes as she gets older she is spayed ?
@@cskiles318 sometimes they just have a thinner coat. Duncan's is particularly thick.
@@sunflowerdachs thanks for reply 😊
Looks just like Daphne from Crusoe the celebrity dachshund
Awe, thank you 💖
Looks like my Archie!’n nearly identical!
I am really interested in trimming the hair on the feet.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
