YESS finally someone who appreciates Lysandre as much as me. He’s always been my favourite villain but it’s always been so hard to explain why. He’s amazing in the anime, the manga shows how messed up he actually was, and the game version of him was pretty cool too. And yeah, if Squishy had never been found by the group or Ash and Alain hadn’t met, Lysandre WOULD have won. I feel like he’s dunked on WAY too much by the fandom for his hairstyle and “stupid goals”. Also, he’s one of the few villains to actually control the legendary they were after. Archie and Maxie got them, but couldn’t really control them. Mewtwo got away from Giovanni multiple times, and Dialga and Palkia broke free pretty quickly and weren’t controlled by Cyrus for very long. If Bonnie hadn’t befriended Zygarde and the ultimate weapon hadn’t been shut down, neither Zygarde would have been calmed down or freed from Lysandre’s control. Anyways, I love this guy and always saw him as a master manipulator and the smartest of the villains, and I’m glad I’ve got some proper evidence from this to back me up 😅 (Btw I didn’t like the MHA ending but I respect ur opinion lmao)
Honestly, even in the games, Team Flare is pretty powerful (outside of battles, i mean) in having Malva as a news reporter. They practically had control over how much of Team Flare's plans and proyects became public news, making them seem like not a huge threat to Kalos until the whole geno speech. That's freaking terrifying in retrospect.
I adore his conversation with zygarde during the final battle with their ideaolgys being the same before zygarde met Bonnie, xyzs parallel and writing is so underrated at times

I agree with this WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Like, if you see how well Lysandre and the Team Flare arc was built up, you know. You just know this was gonna be epic and Lysandre a beast among beasts. Man almost beat Alain's Zard AND Ash's ENTIRE TEAM. With just a Mega Gyarados and Pyroar. He captured a Zygarde and replicated it (I might be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure they explain that, when they introduce the names Z1 and Z2, which is what Team Flare calls the Zygarde cores). WHICH IS INSANE. My man created a LEGENDARY POKEMON stronger than pokemon capable of controlling literal LIFE AND DEATH (I'm not counting Necrozma, since it isn't canon in the anime). And unlike Cyrus, he tricked and manipulated everyone and everything around him to keep a low profile until just the right moment. Unlike that moron, he understands the importance of the element of surprise. And in the game's canon, specifically in USUM, Lysandre ACTUALLY succeeds and kills off all humans in an entire universe. (EVEN CYRUS in that dimension got swallowed up by Giratina. Archie got swallowed up by a tidal wave and Maxie fell down a fissure. Ghetsis just separates people from Pokemon. Yippee.) Lysandre is EASILY the BEST villain in all of Pokemon (as of Gen 9) And just like you said, the entire region needed to step up and then some to even stand a remote chance, and even then, only FATE stopped this man from killing every human being in Ash's timeline. THAT is CRAZY!

He almost 2v7ed trainers that were on par with the literal Kalos Champion, and EVEN then, he ONLY lost when Malva got involved. IDK what that is, but I definitely know that ain't weak.

Just saying, it's just a correction, in the Platinum timeline, the Lake Gods weren't powerful enough to break the two Red Chains controlling Dialga and Palkia, Cyrus only lost because Giratina appeared to kidnapped him, not even the Lucas/Dawn could stop him in that timeline.
It's not that they weren't powerful enough it's because they weren't involved in that timeline. Giratina was. Not to mention in any other timeline like the legends arceus one we see the lake trio help create the ball that catches origin form dialga/palkia they are indeed powerful enough

It is really crazy to think about it that took the entire Kalos gym Leader, Kalos Gang, Ash Ketchum, Alain and even Zygarde to beat Lysandre on the XYZ anime (Also if the anime DP was on the route of Platinun Cyrus vs Ash Ketchum, that would be very interesting to see Ash tries to stop Cyrus madness plan in the distortion world and a miss oportunity to make Ash dealing against Ghetsis and their way of seeing Pokemon as a insult of why he hates Pokemon Battles but Ash have to show their hipocrisy dealing against Team Plasma that even N is on Ash side, that got cut content after deleting Team Rocket vs Team Plasma)
I'm glad more people are appreciating Lysander as a villain. They always go Cyrus this, Ghetsis that and I understand that Lysander's game version wasn't that developed. After finishing the entire anime however, I was baffled, absolutely dazzled at how NONE of the villains came close to how amazing Lysander was shown- it was insane. The only one close that was treated as a real threat was Giovanni- in the first movie which is about 20 years old I think. Maxie and Archie got done dirty(after playing ORAS however I gotta say Maxie is my fav of all time BUT I don't consider him a villain. He did have good intentions to expand the land. And the player COULD have helped after catching groudon instead of shoving it into PC box but am getting off topic.) N was- an odd ball- in the anime Ghetsis was cliche- Lusamine was ruined and toned down in S&M anime(gamewise she was great) Chairman rose was meh- Team skull are best gangsters team yell is a group of pedophiles (they even have pillows of an underage girl whom they follow everywhere which is creepy as hell) Scarlet and Violet didn't have true TRUE villains except maybe pecharunt. And haven't bothered watching the horizons anime. It seems targetted more towards 1-7 year olds Overall XYZ goes unmatched to this very day. I'm kinda convinced that all the effort caused them to burn out for the rest of the- decade I think 😓

Literally, it took very exact coincidences for Lysandre to lose. Ash and the gang should have been massively cooked, deep fried, BURNT. Bonnie meeting Squishy and Ash meeting Alain were probably the two absolute biggest turning points (although Clembot’s location is also hella up there). If those two events didn’t happen, Lysandre cruises to victory with the Megalith.
I rank pokemon characters on different basis i.e, design, character, objective, and the efforts to achieve the objective alongwith pokemon team. Lysandre ticks all the boxes 1. Design: The best designed pokemon villain 2. Objective to redesign world by destroying it 3. His character arc in both games and anime specifically his the best in the league of other villainous team. Just watch anime. 4. He is the only villain to achieve his objective and literally destroyed luminose city. 5. His pokemon, i just loved his team. His red mega gyarados as just amazin 6. I remember reading watching that scene sooooooo many times as it was so insane how he had f*cking Ash and Greninja and Pikachu aswell as everyone else literally trapped by him and if it wasn’t for plot armour he would’ve either been able to control Ash and Greninja or steal their battle bond for himself
I mean Lysander was extremely dangerous to THE literally point where everyone had to get involved just to end his short reign of terror because I'm going to be straight with you honestly Lysander would have been a greater threat had it not been for one main key factor fate because I remember in the anime the narrator said something along those lines of (the meeting between Ash and Alian has come to pass what will this mean? Till the journey continues) I don't know if that's the exact words from episode 13 a meeting of two journeys but oh well it sounded similar because honestly I forgot part of what the narrator said but oh well and finally Lysander is a literal BOSS that's just about it he did everything right and even had his own monologue and a sinister smile to add to his scary nature.
Imagine going from a guy attempting to control Life or Death (depending on the game version), or using a odd version of a legendary that got one shot by the proper version of said Pokémon, and trying to wipe out an entire world with a weapon so ancient, only to go to a group wanting to stop the Pokémon League AND an entire foundation being used to masquerade for a psychotic woman who never gave 2 Taurus craps about her own HUMAN children, for a jellyfish. A JELLYFISH! Sorry for the rant, it just makes no sense on the changes between regions and series’s. Great video like always, and I’d say that Lysandre himself is my favourite, and never thought that I’d say this, but he should have won. His goals weren’t justifiable, but he had more of a chance of winning than some of the others.

Alright, I wasn't going to say anything about the MHA part because this is a Pokemon video but it was indeed that bad. Deku went from not wanting to kill anyone, to having no personality at all and just doing what others tell him to killing a man who's being controlled without saving him. It was rushed and no real consequences for the 'heroes' so the LoV was right in the end. Oh and the messed up part of the mutants being told "if they didn't resist they'd be considered equal." Is the pinnacle of a racist remark. It had potential and it got rushed by Jump Start which effectively killed it.
If you check jjk's manga rn. Its ending is the safe option. You're saying "it's bad" because it's simply not good. Something doesn't have to be bad if it's not good. That's what decent is used for. It's a solid ending.

Literally, it took very exact coincidences for Lysandre to lose. Ash and the gang should have been massively cooked, deep fried, BURNT. Bonnie meeting Squishy and Ash meeting Alain were probably the two absolute biggest turning points (although Clembot’s location is also hella up there). If those two events didn’t happen, Lysandre cruises to victory with the Megalith.

I mean Lysander was extremely dangerous to THE literally point where everyone had to get involved just to end his short reign of terror because I'm going to be straight with you honestly Lysander would have been a greater threat had it not been for one main key factor fate because I remember in the anime the narrator said something along those lines of (the meeting between Ash and Alian has come to pass what will this mean? Till the journey continues) I don't know if that's the exact words from episode 13 a meeting of two journeys but oh well it sounded similar because honestly I forgot part of what the narrator said but oh well and finally Lysander is a literal BOSS that's just about it he did everything right and even had his own monologue and a sinister smile to add to his scary nature.

Alright, I wasn't going to say anything about the MHA part because this is a Pokemon video but it was indeed that bad. Deku went from not wanting to kill anyone, to having no personality at all and just doing what others tell him to killing a man who's being controlled without saving him. It was rushed and no real consequences for the 'heroes' so the LoV was right in the end. Oh and the messed up part of the mutants being told "if they didn't resist they'd be considered equal." Is the pinnacle of a racist remark. It had potential and it got rushed by Jump Start which effectively killed it.
If you check jjk's manga rn. Its ending is the safe option. You're saying "it's bad" because it's simply not good. Something doesn't have to be bad if it's not good. That's what decent is used for. It's a solid ending.
