@@BernardK I'm still struck by how well it was done, even the repaired cracks and slight mismatches between slabs. If you are interested? I have posed 3 videos of H0 layouts from the NMRA British Region Convention from last weekend
I'm preparing my tent to be pitched on the sidewalk of my LHS! Cannot wait!!! Bernie Kemp does it again folks! Thank you Bernie. You are a warlord in the hobby.
Maybe one of the best layouts that has been built. Merging relatively small space with a port as the main theme is just great. The detail and the over all is dead on, and how that back drop adds another dimension to it.
That is some damn fine modeling-damn fine. I spent years running freight trains in the Los Angeles basin, and was the Senior Engineer for the PHL (even chose the paint scheme), and this layout hits the bullseye by capturing the overall feel of the entire Port. Nicely done...
Wow. Awesome model trains. I drove for 12 tears for JB Hunt and picked up a lot of shipping containers from the port of LA. Brings back memories. You even got the graffiti on the cars, too. Very nice.
I was so inspired by this work and the cover from the book That this was featured in I replicated the container ship and did a port sceane You commented on it in face book glad I found this
Bernard, Awesome video showing the prototype port operations and your excellent model railroad that replicates them. The ship models are amazing. I look forward to more operations videos. Thanks for posting and highlighting the steps you took to build the layout.- Tom
I recall seeing the port of la modeled in a model railroader magazine back in like 1990. It was a small h.o. modular layout, and the track plan stuck in my head as the best switching layout id even seen.
Wow, I hadn't heard about this. I loved your steel mill layout. I've been going down to the harbor for many years. This does look just like it. Especially that area for the slab train pier.
A masterpiece in prototype appearance. The weathering, Excellent!! Just the yellow road edge on right side of vehicles would be white.. Thanks for posting.
Wow ! Wanderful video Bernard ! Very nice layout, the scenery is totatly outstanding. You have done an amazing job, the realism of the roads, the ships and the building is fantastic. The weathering, is also suberb. Thank's for sharing ! Jef from France.
Very well done. I would love to see more of how the items on your layout were built. I’ll check your channel but I enjoyed this video and I’m the layout is amazing.
Hi Bernard, As soon as I saw this, I was reminded of a great model from the early 1990's in Model Railroader! This is awesome, I struggled to tell which segments of the video were real or model. Regards from England, John E.
You are referring to Bob Smaus's layout. It was a very cool little project that demonstrated the potential of that area for a model. This project is much larger and oriented on model railroad operations.
also at about 5:08 there is a little in and out hut with the fencing is this handmade or from a product as it is just what i need for a scene i am building
This is some of the best modeling I've seen. Is this somebody's home layout or public display? Anyway is an amazing show of talent, down to the frame built. RT
very cool I've just gotten into model railroading with a 1996 Hershey Park train set HO and i love setting it up. I uses ez-track its fun. love your layout
Beautiful work. I wish the rapid fire frame to frame still shots were a bit longer in view. A little hard to digest all the work with it flying by. But beautiful work.
The 7695 was one of two ES44DCs that wore prototype 'Swoosh' logos. One was black (the one that was adopted) and the 7695 received a yellow logo. BNSF 7695 wears this logo to this day.
I posted photos of 7695 when she was new and everyone knocked on me, saying they would be wearing that logo on every unit in the future. Jokes on them, I have photos of 7695 in fresh new paint with a one of a kind logo.
Stunning quality and attention to detail. Looks real, which to me is the absolute measure of accurate and atmospheric modelling. Certainly captures the character of the real location. Well done indeed.
What really impressed me was the weathering in the concrete roads, so often missed and left a flat colour.
@@DelticFilm i used prototype photos as a guide.

Just when you think you've seen it all. Amazing craftsmanship and layout insight!! Wow!!
I'm preparing my tent to be pitched on the sidewalk of my LHS! Cannot wait!!! Bernie Kemp does it again folks! Thank you Bernie. You are a warlord in the hobby.
I did a double take when I realized this guy built that cargo ship from scratch. Wow, respect.
Amazing video concept showing the prototype and quickly moving to the model. Nice work.

Scenes look legit and deep. Great job!
I live near the port and the realism captured here is breathtaking!
Wow!!! My hat is off to you sir, that is beyond impressive. That isn't a model railroad, that is true work of art.
Very impressive!!! This is one of the most realistic model trains I have ever seen. Truly inspirational!
One word....STUNNING! Okay, make that two words....INSPIRATIONAL!!! Just incredible brilliant work, thank you!
I love the night scenes. you don't see that enough in these sort of videos.
OUTSTANDING, Lucas/Hollywood level work. Loved how you showed how you built items from scratch, a true lost art. Thank you.
Bernard, your attention to detail is truly impressive. I am not a fan of 'modern era' modelling but this clip has had me glued to the screen!
Wow!
This is the most realistic layout I have ever seen!
I have the book. Now I've seen the video. Both are absolutely stunning and brilliant. Now I just need the Tee shirt. But seriously folks - Wow!
T Shirts! Great idea.

Great job on choosing the PHL loco scheme. It's one of my favorites.
WOW! That's some fine modeling. Looks like it took a lot of research. The construction and execution of the models is excellent.
Wow. Awesome model trains. I drove for 12 tears for JB Hunt and picked up a lot of shipping containers from the port of LA. Brings back memories. You even got the graffiti on the cars, too. Very nice.
That is FAR OUT man! Your talent and attention to detail is exceptional

This is as good a representation of this prototype as your Civil War layout is, amazing model work!
Bernard, Awesome video showing the prototype port operations and your excellent model railroad that replicates them. The ship models are amazing. I look forward to more operations videos. Thanks for posting and highlighting the steps you took to build the layout.- Tom
The differences, if there are any, are indistinguishable. Good efforts.
Fantastic work -- the attention to detail is awesome. Some of the time it was hard to tell the real from the model.
Very impressive and well planned HO scale layout. Thumbs up.
I love the detail of the port I live in San Pedro and love the port of Los Angeles
I work the port and it looks amazing. I've talked about doing this my whole life and you beat me 😊 Awesome job sir!
Thanks for the comment. I encourage you to start your own project. It's a lot of fun!
Fantastic. As a mariner I've spent a lot of time around the wharves, and this really looks to me like the real McCoy. I'm looking forward to the book.

Awesome, is probably an understatement. Brilliant depiction.
Stunning detail and craftmanship, Thank you!
I used to work security out of the L.A harbor and also hauled containers out of both locations.
Wonderful 🤪 When the camera switched from real views to Ho layout, my eyes could not believe it ! You have done a crazy work, congratulations 👍

This is actually accurate! I love the scenery and realism! This layout deserves 1st place in realism! I love it 👌
Very well done. I would love to see more of how the items on your layout were built. I’ll check your channel but I enjoyed this video and I’m the layout is amazing.
That was an outstanding video, you guys did a great job, the detail was the best I've seen on a HO layout, keep up the great work.
That is just beautiful - awesome work - well done!!
What size is this layout? It is absolutely stunning. Can you post more videos of it please. Thanks

That gate guard house building will be a new kit from Alkem Scale Models that should be available in a few weeks (around Thanksgiving 2016).
+Bernard K How much would the gate cost? you got me inspired too :D
stunning. beautiful layout
This is amazing it looks so real
This is some of the best modeling I've seen. Is this somebody's home layout or public display? Anyway is an amazing show of talent, down to the frame built. RT
This is a layout I built for my upcoming book. It is a home layout in my basement.
when is the book due out?
March 2017
The book is now available for sale.
Bernard K I know Paul Graf
Also got the Chino CA local job Union Pacific
Exactly what I've been looking to see THANKS!!! On a side note, where did you get the container ship model, as I'm looking for one!!!
The lighting really sells it.
amazing layout one of the best I've seen so far on RUclips, that would be my ideal layout.🖒🖒🖒🖒
I personally like urban modeling. And this was spot on!
Looks awesome great work and detail
This is cool. When I was a kid, we used to go the L.A. harbor a lot. You nailed it. Will you add the USS Iowa and the old ferry terminal?
Unfortunately, no. I don't have room for further expansions of the layout.
i just love it the amount of detail.thank you.
Looks great I love the boat but I would like to se your 1:43 diecast are they hpi
They are from various sources. It's a small collection of Porsche race cars.
Really excellent work!
Absolutely brilliant!
This look like so real, i love it !!

sweeeeet job! I have yet to start my layout of the port of Oakland, very nice job, I'm sure this is only part of the "final" project.
All you are missing is the Vincent thomas Bridge... How would one get one made in ho scale?
This is really interestingly made. Thanks for these ideas.
I love this!!! I work on miss river loading vessels. this is great
Glad you liked it.
Unbelievably well done, a delight to watch - #1
What is the type of track called when it’s on a dock and has no ties and is embedded into the ground with just the rails showing
I can't imagine how much money this took to make, it's amazing!
Beautiful work. I wish the rapid fire frame to frame still shots were a bit longer in view. A little hard to digest all the work with it flying by. But beautiful work.
Thanks. You can pause the video if you wish, or go to my blog to see more on the step by step action.
AWESOME looking for a seaport backdrop what is the one you have thanks
It is a custom photo printed by LARCProducts dot com
What an incredible layout from scratch!!!! :-o
Wonderful training. Awesome!
What's that ES44AC that has a golden logo instead of black?
Don't know.
The 7695 was one of two ES44DCs that wore prototype 'Swoosh' logos. One was black (the one that was adopted) and the 7695 received a yellow logo. BNSF 7695 wears this logo to this day.
Keith Ode oh okay thanks
