As an expedition vehicle builder here in QLD, you're absolutely over doing it with the steel frame for the cabinetry. Not to mention welding it to your ROPS body frame the OKA has. Too late for the dinette part, but seriously switch to knock-together alloy frames for the rest and clad with light weight cabinetry. You'll be saving weight for extra water capacity and the eventual caravan ball weight. You'll say now you'll never have one but I've had more customers than you can imagine give in and get a van. You have a brilliant, self sufficient, crazy capable tow vehicle, the van will be the "base" you never knew you needed. Also, when the kids fly the coop you can re-arrange the knock together frames and reconfigure it to suit the two of you.
So here's me thinking guys, that after you'd done the tape outlines, and said what each section represents, you would look directly at the camera, flick your fingers and say, "and by the magic of technology, here's everything completed." However, real life is not like that. Things take time. Hey it's been a long time coming, people, and now the finish is not too far away. Wishing you and the family all the very best, as you get closer to finishing the project. Best wishes from across the ditch here in Nz.
Found you through True Blue Travellers and so glad I did! Gonna go back and look at your earlier videos as much as the new ones! Congratulations on the Okta!!!!!
Sunday morning - Just finished watching your brilliant vid. Good on mum for lending you the money - parents are the best 👍 We we’re so excited when you registered OKA - big crocodile tears 😭 - you’re doing such a great job Karstan building & fitting OKA up - very impressed ✅ Love you guys 🤗🤗👏👏🥂
Fascinating to see you guys figuring it out. Very interesting build. Reminds me of planning our small caravan to maximise the use of space. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Don't get discouraged by setbacks, keep taking the long view. You will get there.
I enjoyed watching your content a couple years back.. I've not been watching any RUclips for a year and a half or so.... last few months I have been daydreaming of doing more laps, while I'm sitting in semi... you new rig is definitely more capable than your old one.. looking forward to your future adventures
Good one K&M, great that you have it now officially on the road, personally I like the rego plate, it says what's in the box, always good to know. Keep punching away at the job of fitout, like all of this stuff the last few percent takes the longest time, I'll be watching...
I know what you mean about the pains of sorting things out and working out where things go... It is such a trial-and-error part of a build, but you are soooo right. It's the most fun you can have with your pants on. Ours is still ongoing and has taken the form of a Truck and Trailer to travel the country. It is good to have the extra room to take all the stuff too.
❤❤❤ Hi Karsten, Maxine and your lovely kids, nice to see you guys again. I am so happy for you won’t believe it. Can’t wait till you are on tour again. Take care hope to c you soon. Michael
Look forward to watching everything OKA, I have had a soft spot for them from the get go and it's good to see them re-birthed. You are brave young family and I wish you all the best. As another commenter suggests be carful with your weight, steel and heavy ply soon add up to lost capacity to carry other essentials, also have you thought about insulation? 😃
Very impressive and looking so forward to the build and your future travels. Just been in touch with OKA as we were already saying how limited we are with a Landcruiser and what you need to do to make it capable off road but still have limited space and resources like fuel and water. The OKA is manageable on remote tracks where as our other choice is a real truck so limited where we can go ! Thank guys - going to be watching your progress with anticipation!
Bloody love you guys ❤ sooo good to see you creating and manifesting your dreams ..love it and enjoying the ride along with you all! Love Baby Zena smiling at Dad at the end awww..you’re all very beautiful. Come on everyone subscribe 🎉
You both are amazing and I loved your ambience life. Took me back to my young days with dad and mum. We were bush with no 4x4 and had some amazing thing happen dad just tackled anything a real bushman. Congrats on you new rig and happy adventures 😊
Subscribed guys, love your work 🕺🏼💃🧘♀️🧘♀️ And it just shows how fricking awesome the OKA, an Australian offffffff theee gridddd designed truck competes with internation market, even if its only on and available on the Australian market. You OKAs 😂😂😂
Awesome content. Loving the build and the excitement around it. It’s going to be a brilliant beast. Looking forward to seeing it on the road around Newy 🙌🏾
I had to laugh when you had to take to the OKA with the angle grinder and welder thinking all that money you paid for it and doing that . But on the other hand watching the progress on the build awesome thanks guys
I fitted a rotating and sliding plate to my double front seat in my vw T5 which allows it to spin round with ease because it slides backwards, forwards and side to side then locks down with five locking bolts. It’s a beautiful bit of engineering. Not sure it would be available in Australia though?
This build is looking so awesome and will suit your needs for some time to come! Love it! Well done Karsten and Maxine! PS The shower base will be brilliant!
We have also been watching for years and also subscribed today. Hope to see you on the road one day as we are permanently on the road. And Max, l pay by cash so l don't pay additional fees and charges. Best of luck with the build. So excited for you all.
So epic. I love this stuff. Stoked to see how pumped your Zuri is. That stuff is what it’s all about. We have a camper trailer and 4WD and get our girls out as much as possible. Can’t wait to see more.
I can imagine how cool this will be when done. Love the fact that you have kids (like myself) and are making a build to suit the family. You don't get to see that often. It's usually just couples on the road. Just curious (& I'm half way through the video, so it might be mentioned later) but are you planning to make it pop-top or raise the roof at all? I can't imagine crawling around in there all the time.
Awesome build update mate and congrats on getting the rego. That shower base idea is pretty nifty. Topargee makes a product called Evershower, which looks like it could fit in there and it's removable. Cheers and take care guys.
This is me hoping you guys are able to be consistent with at least weekly build videos - I know you've got a lot on your plate - I'm just excited about watching this build come together
Awesome video, looking forward to the rest of your build and future adventures. Give me a few ideas for my own personal Troopy built up as I have a full TIG setup and may weld up some stainless steel lightweight tubing for my framework.
You pair are amazing! Also Max I love Love LOVE you flannelette shit, I have one exactly the same . . . It must be a Hunter Valley thing. Don't ever give up, keep on fighting for what you are passionate for & your 2 gorgeous girls xxx
Well, what's this? I've discovered another off-road (off-grid?) family of what I like to call "life adventurers". It looks like I'm in for a whole new series of RV trips and snapshots of Australian life. So...I've got my allotment of popcorn and a case or two of my "beverage of choice". I'm ready for whatever comes. I"m not sure what the term would be in your country, but as we say in America, "Let's get it on."🤠
Guys before you commit to projector battery system give some consideration to 48v system, eco flow, bluetti, or ozx in Melbourne are building leading system give Andrew HUETT a call they have a system you can bolt on under the chassis and it is complete system in one. 14kw

You should have a kitchen that can be pulled out from the car like the camper trailers, but is also usable from inside the car for rainy days.
