I’m a 4 wd driver from the 70s on, and I love seeing you 4 showing us new or reliving my old drives. So great your back on the road with the new bloody impressive ride. You two are being proactive for others and inspiring families to get out there, but in a humble true blue Aussie style. May the roads be long and safe. Thanks🇦🇺✌️😁
loved the porsche, my son has the VW touareg, 2009, it is unstoppable, 3.0 v6 diesel tonnes of power, we may or may not have done a naughty 4 wheel power slide on the beach, so much fun to drive. love to know more about the porsche and especially the bull bar, photos etc.
If its a 4.8 twin turbo Porsche its probably the best towing vehicle ever. Great suspension (air suspension). Huge power. Better brakes than most cars on the road, and 4wd to boot. Probably a little thirsty (OK maybe a lot...). And the first series had a low range transfer box. It looks great too.
Yeah the 955 first series with the 4.5ltr v8 was the most capable they ever made,i got 1 cheap at the auctions for $7k with 180kms non turbo its pretty capable even with road tyres on. Very reliable aswell so far.
Time to do killy loop. I got bogged at red head years ago with a mate dan smith. He had a kia, it was 2am, we may have been stoned, anyway thanks to the local cops that came and saved us lol. Silly teens. Love the new rig, so happy you guys are back.
Love how youve ketp the Kombi in opening 👌 If you get up to port stepehns, Anna Bay beach is a good challenge but becareful samd down closer to water. Its like quick sand but its awesome about 50km trek down to newcastle.
Yeh the oka has proven it's an off-road beast. Used in many applications from defense to rescue. The 2 Ambos you saw are new to them with more coming. Designed to assist in flood prone and fire emergencies where rescue is difficult
Just came across your channel recently and have enjoyed the Oka build. So looking forward to seeing your adventures in it and have to say - you're an awesome family and loving your energy and excitement! Keep it coming and be safe!!! Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa!
Even walking on Redhead beach is hard, especially in summer when the sand is hot, omg the burn! Very beautiful and you guys showcased the coastline and Oka nicely! Great video, great rescue, this is what we are excited about!
It’s beginning to feel like the Karstan and Maxine show again.😂❤Yeah I’m sold on the Oka now. Well done and where’s your new destination taking us punters? Starting to get excited. 😅
Best tip I can give you for quicker inflation times is to remove as much resistance as possible - I.e remove the valve stems, run multiple hoses (like the indeflate system), even change out the tyre valves to big bore agricultural ones. You can also make your own inline tyre inflator pretty easy with a pressure gauge, T piece, ball valve tap and a few airhose fittings so you can walk away from the inflator while it’s doing its thing and also have a lot less resistance then a normal inflator. Do those things and your refill time will be halved at least. ‘Unidan’ also have a good video on their RUclips about filling up unimog tyres that has a few good tips in it 👌
@@KarstanAndMaxine I'll second what benfarmer says. We run 37" tyres on an Isuzu NPS 75/155 and we also have a central tyre inflation system. This doesn't have valve cores in the valve stems, otherwise you couldn't deflate and inflate tyres on the run. From sand tyre pressure to full road pressure takes around 12 minutes, give or take. This of course is done while you continue driving; slowly at first then with increasing speed as your pressures approach whatever pressures for the road.
that thing is excellent. Big advance on the Kombi which I loved. I hope you kept it or it went to a good home. I see you have a new baby. Lovely. She' s happy
Unimog and Oka are cool and remember wot you said Karsten when you did The Holland Track in the Kombi you said when we get the Oka you are going to do the track in winter 🥶 can't bloody wait cheers legends 😄
Congratulations on an awesome vehicle - you have done a great fit-out! I have owned an ex army Unimog for seven years and I have just finished an expedition build on a 1994 Isuzu FTS 700 4x4 with rear diff lockers. It does not compare to the Unimog for 4x4 capability, but it is a good second best? The reason I am telling you this is that when I got into really soft sand or a steep sand dune to get over, I would let my big tires down to 25 PSI and it would roll up over the the sand dune and the same for soft sand. The Isuzu is a bigger and heavier vehicle (12,500kgs) than the Unimog and I have super single rims and tires which are 385/??/22.5 - They are the same size as the Unimog's and I let them down to 25 PSIG in the front and 30 PSIG at the back. I have done approximately 15,000kms in the vehicle (most of it in the sand on the west coast of WA) since I built it and have had no problems? Go slow and don't hoon when the tires are down and you will not get bogged - In the sand dunes of Lancelin the tourist busses run big trucks/busses like the Isuzu and they have them at 25 PSIG all round! Happy days and again a fantastic vehicle.
Those will be be the Unimogs NSW just purchased for things like flood rescue: NSW Ambulance will roll out eight specially designed vehicles known as Hazardous Area Rescue Ambulances (HARA), the first of their kind in the world, optimising response capabilities during natural disasters and in difficult terrain. They’re built to go through flood waters up to 1.2m and through fires.
They are amazing !! The external bar work are fire suspension systems .. charged with high pressure water .. also squirters on the wheels .. incredible gear !
I’m worried that they are only 4023 models because 10.3t is their. max GVM so if what one of their drivers was saying that they running at about 10t that’s close to their max and I’ve heard that they had a few issues with the springs on them. The 5023s go up to 14.5t. Nice vehicles though.
Love the excitement you guys show just being in that Beast? 🥰 Did the guy you recover have recovery points? That bit made me nervous thinking his front end would rip off 😱🫢🤣
You guys made that look so easy considering the weight ay. I’m looking forward to just how far will the oka go. Height I recon will be the only down fall.
Looks like max is still on air suspension…he better make sure it’s 100% and he changes the connection arms on those air shocks sensors as they go brittle, break and the suspension will drop..better take spare sensors ..
Tyre pressure does have a big part to play and so does the footprint of the tyre especially when it comes to unlevel weights of the vehicle. If your road pressure is let's say 60 psi with a footprint of 30 cm that's on the front and 60 psi on the rear any footprint might be 35 cm because you have extra weight now your rear tires are working harder than the front which will heat up more. When you're on the beach and your lower to let's say 35 Psi which is still very safe make sure all four tires are the same footprint and at this point they might be 40 cm footprint which means you could have for demonstration as 40 psi rear 35 Psi front because of the back being heavy it's all level and same footprint at this point your vehicle will love you because everything is working exactly the same no stress on your Driveline more safer and comfortable to drive on beach or Simpson Desert.
Great in formation .. Yeah we ran 20psi in the front and 30psi in the rear and it went great ... had another play with lesser pressures also to see the difference .. 15 front and 20 rear and it was unstoppable ..when these X force tyres are all let down to 10psi you get a foot print of 1.2sqm .. so crazy
