  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!! I hope my viewers are enjoying the new 4K videos!!! Today, Ethan and I take our flagship Peterbilt 389-X, Miller Industries, Century 1150R heavy rotator towing and recovery unit to try to help out a Deere John....I mean a John Deere. The operator was being polite and pulled off the road to allow another vehicle to pass. Unbeknownst to him, the road side was NOT solid and it "sucked" in the large spray rig and wouldn't let go. My viewers know this isn't the first time we've dealt with these top-heavy spray rigs. This one isn't a turtle though, yet... and it's our job to keep it from becoming one. As always, our "ARC" nemesis lurks overhead. This was a delicate task and an honor to work with such good, hard-working people. God bless our farmers. Thank one when you see one. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Ron, even though your pond was a private endeavor, you could have still gotten a soil and site assessment and design assistance from your local SWCD and NRCS office. That is one of the things they truly enjoy doing - providing technical assistance to landowners like yourself. They will pull a soil survey and assess the condition of the soils and topography of the site, and provide you advice to correct your pond and drainage issues.

Ron I was listening to your comments about your pond with farmer…check with the local extension agent and/ or MDC ( conservation agent ) before you stock crappie they will over populate in a pond , they are not ideal for small bodies of water. Your better off with Bass, bluegill ( or shell crackers) and catfish. The before mentioned agencies can point you to right person for advise on your pond leaking also.

Ron, your slough is flowing over the top of a clay layer and then the water is absorbed by the stratified layers of sterile dry brown soil, then a layer of sandy soil on top of glacial till the size of corn grits up to pea gravel that sits above a layer of clay that is sealing the bottom of your dugout. The clay layer is thicker on the bottom sides of the dugout than the top sides of the dugout profile. When the water reaches a specific height, water will be absorbed into the surrounding area until it reaches the saturation point which elevates the water table in the immediate area surrounding the dugout. When the water table rises above the clay layer and then disappears into the loose, non-compacted soil of the till layer. The water tablé will balance itself out below the peak height reached in early spring when the top 4 feet of overburden is still mostly frozen. As the sub soil layers thaw out the top water drains away from the dugout so you will never likely see any top water or a shallow water table due to the layers loosely amalgamated soil(s) above the clay layer. Hope this helps.
