    is there a way to open/close these without water in them? i was running air through the system to winterize it and had a faulty wire so one wouldnt open automatically, but when i tried to do it the manual way, it would not open.

      Winterizing systems with air compressors aren't common in my area (West Texas). Did you try the bleed screw?
      If you're still struggling I suggest asking the question to this group. They will have the answer.

      yep, the bleed screw is what i used, it seems if there is no pressure of water behind it, they will not do anything.
      the one thing i do not think i tried was having air pressure in the line and opening it, i didnt want to break anything.
