    Very helpful. I had two that were leaking, one from the motor O-ring and the other from the diaphragm. Instead of buying two complete replacements, I bought one and used the parts to fix each without having to disconnect from the pvc pipe. Great to have the manufacturer actually do a video on how to diagnose and repair their product. Imagine if a car manufacturer did this instead of just selling parts or charging $150 service just to "diagnose". I'll look for Orbit for my irrigation needs.

    FOR REAL!!! Bought one of these valves (NEW), installed it and the drip lines from this valve would not stop dripping. After much trouble shooting other portions of the valve shown here on YOU TUBE, I started switching out parts from another "NEW" valve. I found that the plastic "seat" the solenoid screws into (a separate piece of its' own) that screws into the valve housing had a hairline crack that allowed water to flow even when the valve was off. Solenoid was fine. Also no replacement parts available so get ready for another valve purchase and a spare parts source. Check proper assembly alignment before buying. I may have seen the piece I reference had an issue because it was canted in its' mount spot. Awesome valves over all.

    The 2 most common problems are the diaphragm goes bad especially if it gets a lot of sun. I’ve had to replace all of them at 1 time or another. The other common problem is valve metal piece inside of the spring on the valve goes bad. Sometimes you can clean the rust off it and it will work again. But by far the diaphragm is the most common issue. A small amount of water will trickle past the diaphragm, you can actually hear it if is quite. Also the sprinkler at the end of the line of that valve will be on slightly. It may manifest itself as a very wet spot on your lawn.

    I recently got your 4-in-1 (Orbit DripMaster 67790 4-in-1 Drip Irrigation Valve), and I was hoping that I didn't need to use the electrical wires right away. I would love to find some approved documentation confirming that idea. In this video it seems those two wires are designed for low power signals to enter the unit and move a valve, but there is a manual bypass for that sub-system. Is my logic sound, can I ignore those 2 wires until I reach the point where I want to get a fancy timer that sends signals to a unit like this?

    Of the 3 anti-siphon valves I have on my system, one of them turns on when I supply water to the system even though my sprinkler system is off. I had a brand new one, so I replaced the whole thing and kept the old one for parts, but still have the same issue. I’m wondering if one of my main valves has a bad solenoid or diaphragm. That’s next to check, even though the main valve is only a year or two old

  • @myoneblackfriend3151

    Is there a video for setting this up after it is installed? If I manually turn the valve on by rotating the black switch (solenoid) it works fine. If I use the electronic controller the flow is dramatically lower and nothing comes out of the sprinkler head.

    Love this video.It was said at around 2:50 that the anti siphon valve could leak if “you dont have anything connected down stream”.Would that include say a broken sprinkler head near by?If that’s what that means,should I have fixed that 1st.Cuz I replaced the anti siphon valve top with new O rings etc.And it still leaks just like this video.I was going to do the whole valve assembly next.However if I can avoid cutting pvc, that would be ideal.

    I didn't like the look of having the valve assemblies heads jetting up our of the ground. After purchasing a vault, I placed them about 8" underground, only to learn the hard way that water started pouring out of the syphon heads once shut off. Basically, the system would backflow into the heads and fill up the vault with water. - This issue is EASILY fixed with the addedd installation of a 1" PVC back flow valve on each leg to stop the reverse flow of water back to the heads.

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  6 лет назад +1

      No AC indicates power is not getting to the timer. Most our timers have a battery that works as a backup to keep programming in case of power outage, but isn't sufficient to actually run the timer and operate valves. There could be a number of reasons why power isn't getting to you. • @naamangeist7843
      @naamangeist7843 5 лет назад +2

      It could be a number of things but the most common is a bad solenoid (Orbit part: 57041), either on the anti-siphon valve or on the in-line valve after it. The best way to test this is to turn it on manually (both anti-siphon and inline valve). If the sprinkler works, it's likely the solenoid, unless you have it wired wrong. These can be purchased on Amazon for $6.60 with free next-day shipping for Prime members. If that doesn't do it, take the 8 screws out and inspect the diaphragm and clean out any debris. Also make sure your flow control knob isn't closed. Turn counter-clockwise until it stops.

    • @myoneblackfriend3151
      @myoneblackfriend3151 Год назад

      Hello. You will not need to wire these to the main power on your house. They get wired into the controller. They make special cables for the controller. Each cable will have several colored wires inside. All 6 of my valves use the same ground wire from the controller and one unique color. Connect each solenoid the the ground wire. Connect a single colored wire to the other side of the solenoid. I have labeled each valve in my manifold. Attach only the wires you used to your controller. Program your controller and enjoy.

    How do I Handel a situation where the heads are higher than the valve?

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  4 года назад +1

      In that case your anti-siphon will not work. They need to be at least 12 inches above the highest head.

    • @chetjohnson3335

      @@orbitsprinklers but the video said 6 inches. The video also shows measuring from the ground and not from the raised head.

    So how do you replace the entire valve?

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  3 года назад

      Depending on how it's attached it might be as simple as unscrewing the valve. Please reach out to our support team and they will get this resolved: www.orbitonline.com/contact-us/

    Wow, how about if it won't turn on?

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  6 лет назад

      This could be a number of reasons (too many to make a definitive determination here). It could be a short in the wires, a bad solenoid, a bad timer terminal, etc. Please pass us your contact info via private message on social media and we'll get in touch to help.

    • @lhatslc
      @lhatslc 6 лет назад

      I don't need help on why it will not turn on, just thought the video should have something on it. Great video just missing a simple wiring statement for what if. On my issue. The manual on works so line is clear. I swamped the solenoid out with a working one still dead. Checked the wires with VOM. The timer is 19yrs old so best guess is its bad. I have 8 zones one dead after I rebuilt it last year.

    how about when the valve is on only a trickle of water comes out.

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  4 года назад

      It is normal for the a little bit of water to trickle out of the anti-siphon portion. If you mean that when the valve is on your sprinklers are only having a small trickle of water, that would indicate a bigger problem. In that case, Please reach out to our support team and they will get this resolved: www.orbitonline.com/contact-us/

    I bought THREE Orbit sprinkler valves two weeks ago. I installed one and it leaked immediately. Last weekend a second one sprung a leak. Two out of three leaking within days!!! I am DONE with this brand after being loyal for years.

    Orbit customer service blows. Called them two times each time ending up in Belize where the persons HAD NEVER EVEN SEEN AN ORBIT VALVE (I'm asking about the "bleed" button - it leaks or cuts off the water flow - no in between). I have 17 of these valves and they are always failing - usually the anti-siphon part. Orbit doesn't care and so neither do I any longer - Gonna check into other manufacturers available at HD or Lowe's. I also have Flume water detection system - it just will not connect to my internet system since I switched to a "mesh" network. What a waste of time and money! Don't do it. I have 4 control clocks and they keep failing too - usually the LED screen fades out to where you can't read it. Orbit is a Utah company - so buyer beware - that whole state is a scam (I lived there and I don't trust 'em).

    Get rid of the stupid, repetitive music, because I can't hear the guy speaking. If I turn it up loud enough to hear what the guy is saying, the music hurts my ears. This material is exciting enough to stand on it's own, without background music. And background music should be BACKGROUND music, not louder than a human voice. >8(
