  • The world of FFXIV is a lot bigger than you think. We've barely started covering the surface of the planet with three expansion! So join me today as we discuss everything about the world, its continents, and some of its most distinguishing features. Hopefully this will give you a better primer for Endwalker and whatever locations we may visit after that!

Still another couple of continents to explore. Alongside the other shards there's a lot explore in the future.

@@Japaneseanimeguy The ruins beneath the waters of the Bounty. The treasure islands beyond the waters of Blindfrost, in Othard's north. The fabled golden cities of the New World. The sacred sites of the forgotten peoples of the South Sea Isles. Meracydia, the southern continent.
Even of our little Eorzea, we know precious little.

Geography is always a specific topic in my heart, nothong makes me more excited than learning about new places, lands and cultures in the lore. Just imagining what the new world and Myracidia look, and feel like makes all giddy like a child on Christmas. Thanks for the amazing vidoes you make, I have bern binging them all morning!

Minor correction but Dalmasca is actually in Othard south of Doma not in Ilsabard. This is actually why Dalmasca was an important conquest for Garlemald because it was the only viable land road into Othard as navigating the only other road through the Burn was long and perilous. It's also why Garlemald's decision to raze Dalmasca to put down rebellion was so ill conceived as land caravans lost a vital resupply stop. The location is also why Dalmasca was so prosperous despite being in the middle of a desert harsher than that of Ala Mhigo, it was a trading post for all Ilsabardian goods to travel through before making it to the rest of Othard and vice versa. I hope you do a Dalmasca video sometime because it has quite an exciting history.

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe  2 года назад

Well that's strange since Dalmasca was the first country that Garlean empire conquered when they began their march south. Placing it near the northern mountains above Bozja. I can't wait for them to uncloud this map. Going off of text is the worst when trying to draw country's boarders is a nightmare.

i hope you have a field day with EW opening up Isilbard. Bozja revealing so many regions and cities in Isilbard was so cool. While i know we won't be able to visit many if any of the places, but it just goes to show you how powerful the empire was and how its strength has really waned into madness now. I hope they go in hard with the worldbuilding in the continent, since its been relatively unknown to us for almost a decade now. Please keep up the great work.

the new world fascinates me. Am I wrong is suspecting that that was the place "the sound" was first heard by the Ancients? And if so, does that have something to do with why there's been so little contact with it? And how have all the calamities fared for them? Just so many questions >

Would you consider doing a video discussing the theory of Final Fantasy 16's world map geography resembling 14's? Some are suggesting it might actually be a world shard.

    Question professor,
(potential 4.4 MSQ spoilers ahead for others reading)
    !
    !
    !
Didn't we confirm that the state of The Burn was caused by the Allagans draining the land to keep Azys La aloft and that the proclamation by Solus zos Galvus was simply an Ascian ploy? Or did I miss something in those revelations?

      1. Yes. There's Allagan technology taking advantage of the aetheric confluence in the area.
      2. The Garlean Republic already existed way before Solus, originating in Corvos, driven away to Northern Ilsabard after a miqo'te occupation. Solus enlisted in the Republic's military, exploited the potential of ceruleum, and eventually rose up the ranks until he was reigned Supreme dictator-and eventually, Emperor.

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware that the republic existed before Solus's birth but he is credited with the proclamation that the Burns state was due to summoning and using that to spurn the anti-eikon goals of the Empire. Was that a lie or was there actually devastation from summoning wars in previous eras? Or, like it often is, is it Allags fault?

As far as I can tell these videos are made in the style of someone who lives in this world, telling history as they know it.
The discovery of what actually caused the burn was fairly recent and it's unknown if it's discoverer (the scions) have documented this knowledge for others to learn.
Even if they have knowledge takes time to spread and if we consider the timeframe that stormblood, shadowbringers and endwalker may have taken place in there's the possibility that it hasn't had the chance to spread.

not sure if you have done this but can you do a session of Golden Saucer. However, please try to make it as dark as possible. That would be really interesting because Golden Saucer is always bright and fun.

With the Mandervilles in charge of the Gold Saucer, it's going to be very difficult to make it dark no matter how much The Syndicate wants to get their grubby little Lala hands on it.
