    Esta grabación de 2010 no tiene comparación. Cuando la vi en esos años me deslumbró. Hay muchas versiones, pero ninguna puede equipararse con esta. Vadim no sólo muestra una técnica impresionante, sino que (a diferencia de otros violinistas que utilizan la obra sólo para deslumbrar) ocupa esta técnica al servicio de la música. La he buscado durante mucho tiempo y ahora puedo disfrutarla nuevamente. Mil gracias.

I am learning this piece right now, all movements are super fun, the intermezzo is addictive, specifically Izthak's.performance of that movement!

    Stunning performance by Vadim Repin. Plenty of bravura and romanticism, A joy. A spanish touch of love Heifetz one´s is not better, and not so poetic as Repin does. I adore !!!!!!!!

    15:50 absolutely love that moment, with his gestures to the orchestra, I know this version is maybe not the most accurate, it may be a bit messy and out of tempo, but still one of my favorite versions.

      I am a concert violinist, you are obviously not.
      Out of tempo is the correct style. This is not
      a Mozart March.

    Wow! He takes this super fast. I played this in college but could never come close to matching his speed. I wonder if his strings are a little flat, as in the 2nd movt whenever he plays the natural harmonics they seem to be flat.

    the concertmaster on this performance - Svetlin Roussev - has his own solo performance of the Lalo on youtube. i prefer it. Svetlin is an incredible fiddler. Vadim is just too rushed and frantic here.

      Agreed - tremendous attack and brio but a bit splashy and too many bad notes for a piece which a player of Repin's stature should handle quite easily.

      It's what is known as: "Live". It will never be as clinically perfect as the spliced and manipulated, artificial perfection of the recording studio. (BTW, A propos sloppy, check out Joshua Bell.)

      Maybe Repin played and practiced this piece just because of being asked to play. Global soloists are very busy and have a demanding life. Lalo isn't on the same league as Thaikovsky, Sibelius, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Bartok so his less enthusiasm to Lalo showed here.

      I'm not a specialist and I'm sure your opinions are good... But, Maestro Repin is the only one that give me emotion on this particular live version. Emotion vs permanent clinical technic perfection, the choice is made, technic is not the finality.

      doesnt take a violinist at all to tell if something is out of tune :). but it does take a violinist to recognize how AWKWARD things can gets to play in the last movment
