I really agree with you. My osteopath said to me that the surrounding structures of the shoulder have to be strengthened with prescribed exercise in order to calm the inflamed bursa down. An inflamed tendon will irritate the bursa and an inflamed bursa will irritate the tendon. You have to try to break that cycle for shoulder impingement to heal. Good posture is important too.
I've had persistent painful bursitis now for nearly 7 months (confirmed by ultrasound), at first it was so bad I would wake up every morning about 5am in agony, it's not 'that' bad now but still painful and restrictive. I will try your exercises here and hope that finally fixes it! Thanks for the vid!
Amazing pain relieve. As a PT I believe that exercises like this that relieve pain should always be combined with strengthening exercises in order for pain to lessen in the long term. Great exercise/approach, will definitely share with clients. Thanks
Appreciate that mate! I find there’s always more to the picture than just the immediate symptoms that someone has. Finding that broader perspective is crucial to truly being able to give someone the chance to fix something long-term!
this is amazing advice ... the knowledge of how the muscles work and the method of how to help and even to repair it ... thank you so much for sharing your research
My chronic bursitis hurts when I reach across the front, but not when I lift my arms up or out to the sides. Any suggestions? Physio (with the tension band) exacerbated it.
I will try it. I like the explanations! I had pain on my right shoulder for more than 10 years. Now I have pain in my left shoulder but my age does not permit to be patient for another 10 years! I hope these exersices help because physiotherapy and swiming help only temporarily, until the next slight forbiden movement which starts the pain allover!
would this also work for A bursitis and tendinitis caused by a hyper extension injury rather than an imbalance of muscles ? I’m three months in so I’m going to add it to my other physio exercises , I’ve had two Cortizone injections and they have worked on extent but far from 100% healed
It’s hard to say without assessing you for myself Darrin. If there’s surrounding muscle and joint restrictions they could in theory be influencing everything else around that restriction - of which a bursa and tendon could be impacted.
Hi, I'm looking for some advice on this topic I get since months a painful click, mostly in the front of my shoulder, like in connection with the bicep where the pain also first started. But sometimes it also seems to click on the side, behind or maybe just around the shoulder elsewhere. Also many times it feels as though the ache came from the very inside/center of the shoulder, where massage I believe can't reach, and also I sometimes just feel muscle tightness or soreness around the area This appeared just a day or two after doing some chest push ups, and the following day working on biceps and many variants of shoulder with an elastic, a pretty mid weight one. At first I just felt a little chest pain, just like the normal common ache you feel sometimes after exercise, mostly when not having exercised in a while and then going back to it. But then and still now, the clicking and pain has been mostly around the shoulder/bicep So since it's continued for so long without success, I'm reaching out to see if I can get some answers/advice Also I've tried: massage, stretching, mobilizing, strengthening.. And I also know of others that I tried, am trying or considering to try like ice, resting, using an arm holder.. Sometimes I think whether I may have done just too much self massage or stretch to the point it may've been counter productive.. like irritating instead of helping recover Other than that, the only other thing that I'm trying to see if works, is trying to have my shoulders more to the back (posture). This one I heard many times so I thought to give it a try. Just a few days trying it, seems to be doing some effect...but the painful clicking is still there...we will see I heard the explanation is that shoulders to the front posture can irritate or inflame the area of the shoulder and produce or worsen this kind of thing sometimes But, honestly, so far I feel like I've tried many things as you can see, and none have worked...so I would just like to listen to suggestions on what might be the key point to understand why it is still clicking, and how to solve it. So far the rough idea or notion I can say to have about this is that it's basically just an inflammation that causes the clicking. Would like to confirm this, or at least have some more explanation to understand how this works/confirm this would be why my shoulder clicks, or what else could be. Btw, the clicking happens in different movements, like circular movements or just perhaps any movement...reaching the arm to the front, etc, not necessarily upwards Hope I can get some info/advice, I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks! Greetings
Hi Raynold, unfortunately I’m unable to give specific advice over the Internet without assessing you for myself. However, from a general perspective it’s important to make sure that you have a good understanding of how your upper back is going in terms of muscular tightness and deeper joints stiffness - as these things can often be a foundational cause of a lot of shoulder dysfunction. Following on from that, a lack of shoulder internal rotation can often be associated with dysfunction at the front of the shoulder. These are two simple things to look in to just to double check they aren’t the limiting factor.
@@YourWellnessNerd What do you mean by a lack of shoulder internal rotation? Yes, I understand and have heard many infos and advices. Yet, putting is simpler which I also believe it might be, this is just a pain that started right after a slightly intensive (non-high weight) training of push ups and bicep-shoulder lifting exercises.. I couldn't say it should be much of a science.. I've been always more or less active with some training.. and stretching in general I'm not totally sure why this clicking's still there, but I believe it might be due to over massaging and posture, also maybe while sleeping. Maybe a mix of a couple of things that in principle might not seem counterproductive, but then if you look at them kind of make sense For what I see here in tutorials, I believe it surely it's gotta be a bicep/shoulder thing.. but anyway, again that's just a location reference.. My conclusion is that I will try to let it rest some more time and try to decompress the area through the posture aspect. I think giving it time can help, if it has been an inflammatory kind of process.. for what I understand. Other than that... yes.. maybe afterwards or just very little at some point trying with some strengthening, elasticity, mobility exercises Thank you for the assistance, greetings
I've had bi-lateral bursitis for 15 years. I've lost all the muscle in my shoulders as a result. I've had numerous bouts of physio and steroid injections and nothing helps. I'm absolutely desperate for a solution, so I'll try this out.
sad to see all the people that have such shoulder problems, i've had it for 2 years and it didn't go a way so I went to the best shoulder specialist/surgeon around here and he said its caused by bad allignment and moving it not correctly ( he told me he had around 4 patients DAILY that came there with the same problem after trying to figure it out for years), I went to a specific fysio he recommended and after a couple of months doing the exercises where i've worked on moving it properly it's pretty much gone. Go see if you can find a doctor that really knows what he's talking about.
I had this with my fall last yr very painful with everything thing else Ì had with it. With slow physio itreleased it was a receive I could move it better as for fall I had recently more damage n impending op maybe?.
Have you tried treating these adjacent areas before? Hope they help!
That worked so fast it was insane - thank you so much!

I hear you Colin! Hope it settles down for you quickly!
how are you getting on Colin? Did your osteo give any tips on how to break that cycle?

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS - thank you so much! I play Disc golf and hurt my shoulder months ago, and this was better than visiting my PT!!
I appreciate that michael, thank you. I’m really glad to hear the video resonated with you!

do you have any strength exercises to do with this

Thank you, what a revelation. My bursa is sticking out a mile. Will be poulticing with potato tonight. How often..does it break fibroblasts?
Hope it was helpful Lesley!
