I love your reviews very entertaining ...I have been playing for 30 years myself and you and I have the same attitude while I tend to lean toward Jazz basses I love ALL basses that sound good ..love what you did with that Ric !!!
I like your videos. You are a funny guy and you know how to play the Basses. Lookes like you are living somewhere in the south. Looks good. Thanks for doing these videos.
JL I am a new subscriber and you are the truth. I share the same taste in Basses, and coincidentally own the Ampeg BA110. Love the vids. You are entertaining, informative and right as rain. Even the '67 Olds is an experience I once had. Love that car. Someday I hope to have lunch with you and share some stories and experiences. Thanks for sharing the "gospel" of the P/J Bass. All the blessings to you JL, so glad I found a legit bassman.
I remember SD brought these out in the 80's, I think, as an answer to when a lot of players switched to EMG's. Back then I played a 68, that I had put Bart's on for that modern sound. ... I had a P-bass with these pickups on it and I didn't find them 'warm' sounding. ... Glad you've kept the original pickups because you'll switch back, eventually. ... I hope you're staying on top of crowning those frets while using round-wounds. You don't want to get into refretting that beauty. ... These days I have a 74-J-bass with original flatwound strings, pickups and solder joints, and a 73 P-bass with Lollar pickups and an Orange cap.
I keep hearing great things about Seymour Duncan PUPS and Preamps and considering installing an STC-3P in one of my bass guitars , although we can't hear the full sound of the PUPS it's enough to hear a difference , and by the way, you mentioned Melvin Davis used these PUPS , he's a longtime friend , junior high and high school mate whom is a good dude and phenomenal bassist 👍
great video! what are the potentiometer values used for these sensors? I got some equals, but I did not find anything about the links! Forgive me, thank you!
Hey Johnny I have looking all over trying to find a set of those pickups really digging the clean punchy middy sound have any clue who still sells them ?. Thanks
Johnny, excellent content, as usual, but you can't continue to make these videos about subtleties when you're using a camera's microphone. The amp needs to be mic'd or go direct!
Like and Inscribed. Sorry, in my opinion (Fender), the originality of Bass, is an essential factor, both in the passive quality of sound, and at the time of sale. I have a 1970 Fender Jazz Bass.
Filho.....Leo was an inventor...and I'm really sure he seen more things done to his basses worst than this....but I'm sure your 1969 is all original if u have one..thanks for the comment tho......
Hey Johnny, you kind of have a goofy look and demeanor ( I don't mean that in a bad way) But you are a badass bass player and if I saw you playing somewhere I'd be in the front row taking notes.
Hi Johnny, i have a 4-String Jazz Fender Squier Bass i want to modify. Where can in find the those pickups? I check Seymour Duncon site, didn't see them listed. I here the badass bridge is no longer available. What bridge do you recommend?
:| Inspiration ------t h e pups u have to check on ebay or other sites to find them. .the new Omega bridges are really good....i really did Mindy fralins pup..or Emgs..whaever your ear likes
@@LONGCASTLE777 could give tips where I think ??? easier, and which name and model should I look for? do you know the name and model of these pickups? Thanks
Best bass clown! Really inspiring chops. But, unfortunately impossible to get the right impression of the sound, with only the video mic on that distance...
The mini-switch equipped Seymour Duncan P-J pickups were the SHIT back in the nineties for about three years. I remember a lot of instruments being retrofitted with these. Just as fast they were yesterday's trend and then onto the five string Stingray for a couple of years. I found them to be a neat idea, though as I didn't play a P Bass or a J Bass, I had no real need to get into them
I remember those pickups when they were out back in the 1980's. I'm glad I'm an old school player. I have a whole drawer full of shit from the '70's and '80's. And, everything I have has done went out of style, and came back IN style a few times already. Lol. So, that just means that I own the original, old school shit that players these days go crazy over, and offer me shitloads of cash for.
Constructive Critique ..i love players like u who has a great mindset of old school...if u have any bass stuff u want let go of,hit me up with some pics and prices at BOOTJAK7@YAHOO.COM...or hit my facebook/Johnny Lee long
The 69 JB has had Lollipop Tuning Mechanics at the head. This isn't an original 1969 Fender Jazz Bass. And I would never screw active pickups into an original from 1969 - that would be vandalism.
Am I the only one that didn't hear that much of a difference? I don't believe that I could use this sound all night. Player- 10 Sound with these pickups - meh
Diogo Costa Filho that’s like not putting new tires on a 50 year old car because it’s a slap in the face to Henry Ford let him do what he wants he is funny as hell
Butchering a ‘69? No bueno. Your horrific articulation of the attributes of the changes? Hard to listen to. You’re a beast on the bass for sure though.

Bruh everything about this video is perfect
This guy is a bit eccentric but plays phenomenally!!! Wheew boy I hope to get there. Excellent video and great playing.
Impressive pickups. I had a '71 with the same bridge and DiMarzios. My old war horse.
Beautiful sound for a beautiful bass bravo jhonny always be good😉👍👋👋👋👋👋🎼

The best looking bass ever... sunburst jazz with block inlays.
Yo los tengo!! Los tuve muchos años en un Fender 74. Ahora se los voy a poner a un Ibanez gio 320 a ver cómo suenan.

Sounds amazing! Where to find those jewels?
They stopped making them in about ninety four or so, so there aren't may places to obtain these, except Reverb or maybe E-Bay.

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to play a ‘69 fender jazz without wearing a bright green blazer and purple shirt

You’re only supposed to do up the top jacket button, the 2nd one should be undone….FYI
I agree with silverdroid, you have 3k followers, treat yourself to some mics or direct recording. Reach out to two notes audio, or similar.
Hey fella's, you can hear him fine if you have quality computer speakers or ear buds. Peace out
