- Hi guys! So I had issues with my new bike chain which I replaced, but now I found the problem and it works just fine!
Reading many comments and multiple threads and also did everything as it suppose to be, but still had the problem.. Finally it's all done! It took a some time to break in the chain, but now it's smooth and quiet.
Keep those chains well lubricated and not to tight, they will last you for many many miles!
Thank you for watching!

Good call
Wow. Thanks
Thanks
Good save.
there's so many professional mechanics in comment sections it's always so helpful.
Sounds normal to me, but can visually see it’s too tight too. Thats the 1st thing I saw.
Most of noise seems to be from the top part of the chain just behind the front sprocket knocking against the chain guide on top of the swingarm, which is completely normal. Under load most of that contact would go away. You can test this by going down a steep hill with the bike in neutral and the engine off.
I'm riding on highway of clutch engaged no chain noise if I give Accelaration it's starts rattling. Chain and sprocket completely new not used even 100km even nicely lubed.
A rattling noise whilst moving the bike when you are next to it is usually a sign of a chain adjusted to tight.
Measure it while it is on its wheels.
Having a slapping sound when driving at low speeds around 50kmh: too much slack.
Pretty much the golden rules for chain adjustment.
30-45mm more or less depending on the bike. If it’s within that spec in the owners manual it’s fine. You’d probably say my chain is waaaaaay too tight but it’s just in spec.
Chain is too tight i can see that straight away
Yup. Chain needs a little slack. If he continues to run that he is a. Prematurely stretching the chain, and B. running a high risk of catastrophic failure.
Yes, like I mentioned at the end it was to tight.. After more adjustments it was great
I recommend to check the slack when rear wheel is on the ground
Frequent you will see that some of the slack is gone and your chain is to tight
on my bike im giving sudden gas while being on 2nd gear it’s giving me tak kat noise .. is it too loose side or too tight?
Same did U solve this problem ?
Is this amount of noise fine? My Yamaha FZ6N makes this sound now as well after tension the chain. And I mean then the sound at the end of the video. Before I never noticed any sound at al. The chain has been driven 80km with a to tight chain after loosening it again..
Yes that means it's to tight, maybe you have to loosen your chain a little. I lubricate my chain every 500km~ and check tension at the same time. If you overtightened it for sure it will make lauder noise because it's way to tight. Hope this helps
Check the Washer lock "washer" on the front sprocket. It might be hitting the front sprocket nut.
Sprocket was fine, bearings fine, all lubricated, lined up, rear wheel bearings fine.. could not figure out, but I put extra lube and loosened the chain to almost touching the body of the bike and it fixed perfectly. Was smooth and quiet after few miles riding, got fully lubricated and it worked great!
Chain is TOO TIGHT !!!
Did you say you loosened it before this video? It still seems way too tight. I think the sound will disappear if you loosen more
Wait this is too tight? Mine must be wayyyyyyyy too tight then
My 636 has a hard plastic slider on the swingarm for it to actually run on so it does not wear out the metal
It's crazy how my 636 makes more noise than my exhaust, it concerns me sometimes.
@@johnny2024 it is a loud whirring sound isn't it! I noticed it more when moving to a D.I.D chain, maybe slightly wider or something.
@@jakepavlo91 oh ok, I don't hear it with my helmet or without but when someone took a video of me I heard it. Oh well I'll see if I can replace it this winter.
That's too tight. the chain is supposed to ride on the chain guide on the top of the swing arm.
Did you see how much the chain moved when he barely pushed on it? This is why we have owners manuals.
@@BINX-RR I see how much the sprocket/swingarm moves side to side when he pushes on it. that doesn't look normal at all. I'd check those cush drive bushings.
did you fix it ? I'm having similar problem after getting a service done recently.
Yes, just read some comments what I did and it worked very well!
It’s a tight chain problem
I'm riding on highway of clutch engaged no chain noise if I give Accelaration it's starts rattling. Chain and sprocket completely new not used even 100km even nicely lubed.
Did you find the solution and cause
@@akshatchugh7953 NO, Using it as it is. noisy
@@BhatakantiEkPravas i think you would have to clean the front sprocket you have to remove the cover of front sprocket first Gear numbers must be written on it and then clean and lube the chain again it would get fized
@@akshatchugh7953 bro im replaced it with box peace new one, front sprocket chain and back sprocket. still no change. aslo replaced rubber bush
You should listen to the chain of my ducatis 😂 totally normal
Useful video. Thank you buddy
Do you pressure wash your chain when you clean it?
My sounds like that but I wonder is it safe to drive?
Yes it was to tight and I had to release it, once that was done all worked just fine
Was the chain to tight because my new bike sounds like that?
@@valtergrins8275 yes the chain is to tight and make sure it's well lubricated so less friction and less chance to overheat. I normally lube the chain every 500km or 300miles
Just clean the mirrors and the noise will be gone right away, also adding grease on top of the seat helps , add a about half a cup of sugar on the gas tank and man that 300 will run like a 1000 for sure
Looks bone dry to me lol you shouldn't be able to touch it like that without getting oily
You can see stiff spots on the Chain like it needs lubed
I don't like the look of that split link - seems to be mis-aligned next to the links on either side. Please check brother.
Link was fine, I checked it. Because I replace it and the new one was very stiff at the beginning. Thanks :)
hey i am facing clunk or tak tak noise on deceleration..did u ever faced this problem on ninja 300 ?
Sorry but we sold bike long time ago. Could not check that anymore.
Same, just when decelerating, what was your problem and solution?
@@BridgeIsSky Mine silencer catalytic converter gone for toss got changed header pipes under warranty problem solved.
Does a over pressed master link cause the noise?
No had to release the chain even more, was almost bouncing and touching the body of the bike but the sound changed dramatically
@@biesasuk you don’t want a chain that loose man that’s dangerous
Sounds normal lol.
The chains way too tight at the beginning of the video
There is a stiff link i am seeing
Hope you changed it
Yes like I mentioned the chain was to tight, so I loosened the chain and added extra lubricant and then it worked perfectly!
Seems a bit tight... it needs some.slack
Chain is not ligning up with sprockets
Yes I did lined up the chain and had to release the tension.
@@biesasuk so this was the answer??? My new bike making the same noise 2002krt 400😭😭😭
Chain is noisy because it is dry .Over lube this chain .
I did and I lined up, but what worked the best was releasing the chain, was almost touching the metal on the bike
@@biesasuk change chain set .
@@pubgbros687 did you watch the video at all?? He started the video saying that he replaced the whole kit like 2 weeks prior
Tigh chain + worn sprockets
New sprockets. You had it in the first guess. Too tight
