I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. But I like to restore certain woods whenever possible. 🙂

I'm generally against push-latches (they're usually a cheap cop-out from finding appropriate hardware)...but the reasoning behind using them in this instance was perfection! It allowed you to use the original, beautiful hardware and actually emphasized the verticality of the cabinet veneer. Gorgeously done faux bois work, as well!!!

I have no issue with people doing that. This would be hard to sell because it's not usable as a desk. It's a vanity, so only a vanity bench can be used. It’s only 27” high. It’s why so many of these end up in the trash. If a piece can be reused as nightstands instead being useless and discarded, I’m all for that.

Omg Nacho and Freya are gorgeous together. It's so lovely.
I think I have watched every one of your videos 3 or 4 times to help me when I am doing the furniture for my own home. I cannot afford new so I buy cheap or failing pieces and fix them so thank you from a single mum!

This piece is timeless. Love the way you respected its true beauty. I recently purchased an old English desk and was not finding any video showing what you did. Everyone is chalkpainting everything! This will definitely be my inspiration so thanks for sharing!

Hi Angie! Freya and Nacho are adorable together. Maybe Willow is just being a snooty girl?! The vanity turned out nicely. Good solution for the missing hardware. Cheers! 😺💞

No Willow is just much slower to come around, she's not really even a fan of Nacho. Willow and Willie are very close and he's the only cat she really cares about. Thanks so much for watching!

I'm convince that with today's finishing products that YOUR version is even more exquisite than the original. When you found the 3rd knob in the drawer I was convince you'ld put them on the drawers only. I can't see any evidence of the holes in the doors! I never tought of sealing between coats of stains... brilliant! The dark color was your best bet! This desk belongs in a President's office!

Astonishing. What I most admire about your work is the attention to the things no one will ever see. Wow. You could flip it upside down and it would still be beautiful. I say this every time but it bears repeating: You are an artist who works with wood.
