My husband and I found our ragdoll as an abandoned kitten in one of our storage sheds on our property. She is the best cat I have ever had. She's well behaved, very smart, keeps herself well groomed and follows me around like a dog. She can't purr; she squeaks instead. She is seldom temperamental towards strangers and younger kids. Highly recommended breed if you are looking for a good family pet.
You say Ragdolls don't climb, huh? I wish someone would tell my Ash that! I have a bed wall w/lightbridge that she has NO problem climbing to the top of! She also is frequently on top of the kitchen cabinets! She hasn't read the Ragdoll rule book! Love her to pieces! She's a seal point mitted beauty.
I love my Ragdoll. He is my best friend. Punky is so playful and smart. He has some awesome vocalizations. There is the regular meow, but he also trills, he sometimes makes little sounds like he is speaking to me. Which I guess he is. He is super friendly. He runs to the door like a dog would. He loves to play fetch. The funniest thing that he does is similar to Irish dance. He moves his back legs like he is dancing. It is so hilarious.
I love the fact that they get along with dogs - that sealed the deal in my book. Always loved Ragdolls - very elegant. Loved his little "smile". That also sealed the deal.
I've just lost my beautiful Rag Doll cat, Zak, at 15 years old. He was so sweet, affectionate and clever and extremely vocal. We had lots of long conversations and always welcomed me home with a loud meow. I miss him so much but hope to be getting another Rag Doll shortly. Denise
Allicastery Cats do much more than meow, Allicastery. They use their Muses to sing their glorious songs. Make sure you subscribe to Janson Media for more quality productions like this one using the link: bit.ly/JansonRUclips
Birdo - I had to laugh about sometimes. Our Zack meows when he is looking for my daughter. It is like he is calling her. He does this quite often even when she is just out of eyesight. Lol!
My ragdoll is lazy, lazy, lazy. She doesnt want to be bother with anyone until bedtime. She's really sweet at bedtime but If my kids are upset, she will try to comfort them. She'll sit outside their door and circle around them when they are upset. Other than that, she's pretty damn boring but my kids love her and she's beautiful too. Now i have a Siberian that is awesome. She talks every time someone walks past her (I call it bitching) , she always hanging out near us. She loves to cuddle. I love that cat.
Oh and my ragdoll is stuck up. I went to the store and got my girls some anchovies and sardines (the kind for humans) but my ragdoll was not having it, especially the anchovies. My Siberian loved them though.
I have never met a Ragdoll in person, but they are beautiful and I have always liked the things I've heard about them. You can tell the one in the video is a sweetheart, look how she's kneading the table:)
Thankyou! Chloe was such a gift; always wanted to have a ragdoll, and she shows up; outside my hotel room, I sang professionally for ever, and there she was! So cold and needing lots of love! And she shows up out of the blue...wow! had her for 16 years and she had a wonderful life; We have a alfa male that would either love or hate a baby ; don't want to take a chance; but, someday, i'll get a new baby!
lol i was thinking the same when she said that. quiet cry? you shoud hear mine sometimes. Especially early in the morning when we left the door from the livingroom to the stairs open. then he sits by the door and start to meow so loud that the neighbours from three blocks away can hear it XD But youre right. ragdolls are the best
I love these cats! I fell in love with them when I read that they go limp when held, which I found very endearing. I've been researching them for a while, which I will continue to do, because I'm trying to convince my dad to let me get one. It's going well, from what I've been reading, they're perfect for me and my family's lifestyle. Hopefully I'll be allowed to have one by my birthday in 7 months!
I breed Ragdolls (from time to time). A pure bred, going back to Daddy Warbucks etc needs far far less grooming than a Persian and I hear the faintest of meow once every six months or so. They are like King Charles Cavalier. Soft, gentle, sweet, loving, empathic, friendly, charming, endearing, charismatic, AND FAITHFUL - if you feed them on raw food their coat will be silky their teeth healthy and have few urinary problems. RECOMMENDED
I'm so EXCITED!!!! I JUST adopted a beautiful male ragdoll kitten yesterday I named him Tommy and he is just PRECIOUS!!!! =D I heard such great stories about these cats and always wanted one yah idk why this woman says they don't shed cause my cousin has one and they need to be brushed all the time wot they matt up really bad anyways we r looking forward to bringing this beautiful baby boy home and giving him so much LOVE =D
My ragdoll is the sweetest cat that I've ever had!! He loves tv (especially animal shows) and he's extremely vocal. Also,I dress him up in cutesy costumes.
I have two Ragdoll cats- Bear & Dexter. They're brothers, and they are very gentle and sweet! Well, Bear doesnt really like other animals, but he loves me and most of my relatives!
i had a ragdoll mix a calico white grey and peach with light green eyes i lost her last friday and i went door to door asking ppl and posted fliers i didnt even know she was a ragdoll until my friend told me when i showed her my pic of my kitty! she is definably a ragdoll her personality fits it perfectly i hope i find her she was sooo friendly and cute! its true they have a WEAK meow she sort of weezes/whistles when she meows like shes blowing out air :( very cuddly cats love em!
Great intro to the Ragdoll Cat breed as a whole. But, it is important to realize cats - Ragdolls included - are individuals, their temperament can't be covered in a blanket description of all individuals in a breed. Many Ragdolls don't flop, some are timid etc. To ensure you get exactly what you want, have a good relationship with the breeder. If they are a good breeder, they can give you the best info on each kittens' personality so you can make a wise choice. But, they are ALL beautiful
I was thinking about getting a Persian Kitten as a buddy for myself and my 100 pound Doberman, Duke. But after watching this video, I honestly think I've changed my mind. Their attitude towards big dogs, kids, strangers and the fact that they follow you around is exactly what I'm looking for. Indoor cats FTW. Great Vid
We have a ragdoll kitten and he is just as described. He is the sweetest cat and we will never get any other breed from now on! We plan to get him a sister soon and we also have a cockatiel that he is pretty good with.
I had a Ragg Doll combo Seimese and Ferrill Cat He knew how to fecht a ball and was very loving.....You woke up in the morning and he was ..like ..How Are You Today??! What is are new project this morning?!! I so loved that cat!!!!!!!!!
my ragdoll has been going outside for 12 years , he is very alert and protective of his territory, he bigs up to any cat that intrudes into the garden lol. They may be docile cats but they still have survival instinct, very alert and can tell a threat from a safe thing
Had 2 ragdolls for about a year now :D indeed they turned 1 a couple of months ago. Best cats ever Elmo and Yoda are their names. They have flame-point coats. They follow you about the house and are amazing companions. VERY friendly too.
when our beloved cat Gunther died, he left behind a lonely brother, Edgar. So after some time passed, we went to the local SPCA and found a new companion for him. We had never heard of a "rag doll cat." We named him "Eddie." When we took him to the vet, the doc looked surprised and said, "OMG you have a rag doll!" I looked it up when I got home. Now I understand why Eddie is so sweet and lovable. Even Edgar loves him!
I noticed a lot of comments about the shedding of rag dolls. You can minimize that by adding moist food or oil to their dry food. Just try it and you will see the difference. If your cat is only eating dry cat food then he or she will shed real bad. My Ragdoll only sheds when his new coat is coming in, other then that is minimal. We put omega oils in the dog food and the shedding stop almost immediately for our German Sheppard.
"ragdolls are strictly indoor cats" haha yeah right. my cat was the king of our street he beat up all the other cats (i always caught him in the act), he loved climbing, and he was a skilled hunter, yet he loved us and still loved to be held like a baby and he was so FLUFFY!!. in the end he died at an old age from heartworms. RIP Mickey the Murderer TT_TT
My ragdoll thought she knew the english language! She would wait at the bottom of the stairs every morning and greet everyone. She was a big, beautiful sweetheart, animals are only on loan to us, and it hurts so much to lose one. Maybe another ragdoll is in the future, I sure hope so!
I must admit I've had two ragdoll cats from a very reputable breeder and they were exactly as described; I couldn't believe they were a cat. Their attitude is so much more like a dogs. They constantly want to be held by you, which is the total opposite of what I've had with previous cats which just didn't want to know, or only tolerated being held. Both my ragdolls would be happy held like babies for hours at a time.
My Ragdoll is very vocal too, specially when it comes to his food, we call him The Beast as he's pretty big and has massive paws, he's also very much an outdoor cat but he doesn't roam and is normally in the garden somewhere ... even at 10 years old he brings in birds & mice still ... not that often but still does it
hah my cat sheds quite a bit. there's not much matting, but she can't reach some spots to clean so a bath is needed once in a while. she's very relaxed and follows me around a lot. when she's active, she's running around and jumping a lot haha!! she's pretty quirky, its cute
I love my Ragdoll and she is a great pet very affectionate and friendly but she does shed and she does knot especially under he arm part so you have to keep em brushed for sure! I love her though!!
Quiet? Oh man not my ragdoll cat. He is the loudest thing, meowing every time he sees us. He'll jump up on the couch next to me and just sit there meowing for a bit until he lays down. He also squeaks like a little toy when he jumps too, it's too funny.
We got our Ragdoll (A bicolor) from an animal shelter. He's lovely and very gentle with our daughter, and he plays with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.. it's pretty cute. Quite a bargain, for $80 ;)
got my ragdoll about 5 months ago, and they can be left alone, he got sad at first, when we first we got him. But he's used to it now, because he goes asleep in the day, and he gets left alone for 5-7 hours, if you have any other animals its better for the kitten, i have another cat, who's SOMETIMES, company for him, so if you have another animals its better. But most people buy ragdolls in pairs, so they dont get seperated, and they have a sister or bro with them when they leave the mum :]
I love my ragdoll!!! I agree with the other posters, my ragdoll is very mean with other cats but a sweatheart with people. IMHO ragdolls are the best breed ever!
Mine is not low energy. When she feels the need, she will run through the house like a race horse and she is 8, almost pushing 9 years old. Mine still likes to climb. We have tried our hardest to break this habit of hers as we dont want her up on the furniture but 8 years later we are still unable to do so. Friendly temperament towards strangers? Not mine. Mine will attack a stranger who enters our house if they try to approach her. She only loves her family that she lives with or the ones that she sees quiet often. If she does not know you, YOU do not bother her, period. Mine is NOT quiet - she meows, and yowls all the time. She is very vocal. And yes she is like a little puppy dog, she follows you around so that is one thing they got right.
Our ragdoll is very vocal. He is only comfortable around me and my wife. Strangers he runs and hides. Sheds like crazy. And his favorite place to lay is on a barstool looking out the window. And he's most active never lol. He sleeps almost all the time
I don't know what Ragdoll this lady has, but my Ragdoll is an active little spaz! I use the term "little" loosely. He is 11 mths, taller and heavier than my 9 year old cats. He is by NO means a floor-dweller. He LOVES my other cats, and has never met a stranger. He talks ALL day and the voice isn't quiet. Everyone things he speaks sentences. I do bathe him, and trust me, even wet, he's no skinny kitty. He isn't fat, either; just a large breed. I'll never own another breed, if I have my way.
I researched the breeder and they had a good reputation (I didn't buy from a store) and I've treated him as all my other cats (who were all super affectionate). I guess I shouldn't say he's completely non-affectionate - he is like a puppy and follows me everywhere and coo's adorably for attention. He just doesn't like being man-handled like you see in these vids and he's a bit bitey still. I imagine in a few years he might be more floppy though I'm not sure if his social anxiety will ever leave.
That's so cool. I want a Golden Retriever one day, so this is certainly an option for me to consider when I have a more settled lifestyle. I'm out and about too much right now. But yeah, a Golden Retriever gets along with everyone anyway, so they'd be a match made in Heaven. : )
My beautiful max is a blue mitted ragdoll cat who loves being up high and can be very hyperactive even at 13 years of age. He is sweet and gentle but is not a lap cat and hates being picked up. He is very tolerant of children and likes to say hello to all visitors
yes the creams seem to be very popular. I'm a fan of the tri-colours myself, makes for something a bit different. I would love to have a blue or tri-colour. But really who cares about the colour as long as you have a healthy, happy, loving pet :)
Our cute little ragdoll kitten just arrived. :D He's 7 weeks old, and solid coffee ice cream colored. He's only very vocal when he's trapped somewhere, like when we put him in his cage. Unfortunately we have to keep him in one overnight, because we have a bumbling human that could crush him. But he's adorable and fluffy and loves to chase dust bunnies. XD Are they known for chewing on cords?
I have 6-7 week old ragdoll kittens and they pretty much contradict everything said in the video. They climb absolutely everywhere they can, they hiss at the dog, they attack everything in site, they meow a lot and they run around everywhere.
+ShawBrothersGirl Yes totally sure. We own the mother, if we didn't we wouldn't be allowed to have kittens that young. We also know the breeder and have proof that they're ragdolls on both sides. It's just because they're babies that they're out of control. They're a bit older now so they've changed to some degree, like they're fine with the dog but they're still incredibly naughty. The mother cat is a typical ragdoll though, except she's more talkative.
I have to cats I took in from a friend. The mom was a DHS but we had no idea who the dad was. After some research the two girls I adopted gave me a hint when I saw their brother. Bingo rangdolls. One looks like a DSH and the other ragdoll completely different personalities. The more ragdoll looking one is my cat and she’s genioally the sweetest cat in the world she sounds like a pidgeon when you call her name. She comes running to you and she sits like a dainty female. Her sister on the other hand does things out of spite just to piss you off. The only reason she’s so smart is because she’s gotten into trouble so much. She doesn’t care she still does it.
ragdolls come in a few different colours, all of which can vary in shade and pattern. it sounds like you have yourself a blue, which are actually quite rare if I'm not mistaken. :)
hahaha so true!! I was thinking about the same and just then saw your comment. Mine is not so loud but he meows several times a day, each time he sees a door closed for example, and sometimes just for the taste of meowing too =)
I have a sweet, gentle little Ragdoll cross boy who's dad was a ginger tom, so he's bright ginger. But, he has the face, size and characteristics of a Raggie. They're amazing aren't they?
A couple my parents have been friends with for many years own two rag doll cats who seem to have some opposite features to the description in this video. They are wary of strangers, even those who take the time to slowly let them become familiar with them. They hiss, scratch, bite, hiss, and just don't seem to be the most approachable cats, but It's okay because I come to cats not expecting that they will initially like me or my family. I suppose the ones I know are more like outliers of rag doll cats.
I call my ragdolll who comes galloping up when he hears me calling him. He follows me everywhere and is always laying next to me wherever I am. He gets a small streak of independence but comes back within a few days inside the house. The vet the first time he came in told us he wouldn't last five minutes outside. lolz...
"They are not climbers - they tend to be floor dwellers" says the woman. Well, maybe you could tell that to our ragdoll - you'll find him on top of the wardrobe.
We just had a Persian-Ragdoll whose personality and looks tends to side on the Ragdoll. They are super cute and ideal cats!
My Ragdoll will climb on things periodically, but it is all he can do to jump on the bed.
Denise
Looks like this was recorded in the late 80's early 90's lol. Anyway Ragdolls are sweethearts no doubt about that.
"But sometimes they will use their...vocal abilities" was it so hard to say "sometimes they meow"
Lol!
Cats can chirp, squawk, meow, hiss, growl, spit, snarl and sooooo many other things.
Well, they do "purr", "growl" "hiss" and so on.... so its simpler to just say "vocals"
My ragdoll is lazy, lazy, lazy. She doesnt want to be bother with anyone until bedtime. She's really sweet at bedtime but If my kids are upset, she will try to comfort them. I have a rag doll cat and he is the most friendly, beautiful cat I have ever had. I posted a video of him!
*ragdoll
Same its the cat on my pic!
I got my baby four weeks ago ,but her fur is like angora rabbits and she so sweet natured it's unbelievable ,🐾❤️
Best breed ever. My Raggie is made of 100% pure awesome. She's even a wonderful foster mom to our kittens.
lol i was thinking the same when she said that. quiet cry? you shoud hear mine sometimes. Especially early in the morning when we left the door from the livingroom to the stairs open. then he sits by the door and start to meow so loud that the neighbours from three blocks away can hear it XD But youre right. ragdolls are the best

I love my ragdoll, His name is macintosh and he is extremely cuddly. He headbutts you as a greeting (: I love this type of cat so much.

Ours is not a floor dweller, but a serious jumper and climber. Gracie is the coolest cat that we have ever had.
Mine too! I think he simply likes to hear his own voice. :)
my adopted ragdoll is so vocal when she is hungry. She can really meow for 30 seconds but she is so cute and friendly
My Ragdoll is very vocal too, specially when it comes to his food, we call him The Beast as he's pretty big and has massive paws, he's also very much an outdoor cat but he doesn't roam and is normally in the garden somewhere ... even at 10 years old he brings in birds & mice still ... not that often but still does it

quiet often. If she does not know you, YOU do not bother her, period. Mine is NOT quiet - she meows, and yowls all the time. She is very vocal. And yes she is like a little puppy dog, she follows you around so that is one thing they got right.
Kimberly Brooks -my Zack will spaz out at times. total release of energy. we call this going squirrel. lol!
i own a ragdoll with the rare hour glass/dimond on her nose and she has the very rare green eyes i love her
Cats very nice and very beautiful and very happy
misa loves kitties! This would totally be the cat for me
Our ragdoll is very vocal.
I'll never own another breed, if I have my way.
cats are great pets. very low maintenance. we plan i getting a ragdoll in a few months as well.
my ragdoll and my chihuahua are best freinds !
We have two female ragdolls and a male. They are all good pets, but the male is by far the best pet we have ever owned.
I laughed when she said they don’t meow much, my rag doll never shuts up 😂
That's so cool.
Aww very Yorkie-like 🙃
yes the creams seem to be very popular. I'm a fan of the tri-colours myself, makes for something a bit different. I would love to have a blue or tri-colour. But really who cares about the colour as long as you have a healthy, happy, loving pet :)
I saved a ragdoll whom I named "Monaco." He more than lived up to the name, and he was a better man than I.
adorable kitty
Our cute little ragdoll kitten just arrived. :D He's 7 weeks old, and solid coffee ice cream colored. He's only very vocal when he's trapped somewhere, like when we put him in his cage. Unfortunately we have to keep him in one overnight, because we have a bumbling human that could crush him. But he's adorable and fluffy and loves to chase dust bunnies. XD Are they known for chewing on cords?
this is a cute kitty
They're very sweet cats!
best cat i've ever owned, so nice!
he might just be grump that makes them mor cute to me. but if hes still craves your attention, he might just not like being held :)
I have 6-7 week old ragdoll kittens and they pretty much contradict everything said in the video. They climb absolutely everywhere they can, they hiss at the dog, they attack everything in site, they meow a lot and they run around everywhere.
+yasashii89 you sure its 100% ragdoll because my friend has a full blooded rd cat named Mr. Blue and he is everything this woman has said
+ShawBrothersGirl Yes totally sure.
+yasashii89
that's funny
They are perfect, round, puffy fluffballs ❤❤❤❤❤❤
ragdolls come in a few different colours, all of which can vary in shade and pattern. it sounds like you have yourself a blue, which are actually quite rare if I'm not mistaken. :)
OMG I saw this breed on Cats 101 I want one so bad! Its my ideal pet for when I grow up and live on my own :D
wow........such a beautiful little face!!
lol i love my baby she's a ragdoll too! such a sweetie and too effing cuuute!
I have 3 ragdolls....they are so lovely and sweet...
That’s when That Little Puff came to be.
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting it.
hahaha so true!!
Claiming textured wallpaper and vocal as hell and not at all calm she's mental my ragdoll..the dog loves her to bits they spend hours playing
These are Ragdoll's though. They're an amazing breed, hopefully getting one next year :-)
what a sweet kitty. mine is a crazy little meanie!
I call my ragdolll who comes galloping up when he hears me calling him. He follows me everywhere and is always laying next to me wherever I am. He gets a small streak of independence but comes back within a few days inside the house. The vet the first time he came in told us he wouldn't last five minutes outside. lolz...
Beautiful cats!
Tommy, Gracie & Leo Yes they are. Thanks for watching.
"They are not climbers - they tend to be floor dwellers" says the woman. Well, maybe you could tell that to our ragdoll - you'll find him on top of the wardrobe.
Mine doesn't dare sleep on the floor but I have to say he isn't a very graceful jumper.
