I'm always surprised to hear there are those that don't like talkative cats! I would never consider that a "con" and love Siamese, Ragdoll and any other cats that talk as it's a great way to engage and bond with them. A real "pro" from my perspective!
I need a vocal and highly interactive cat. I had a Burmese who I spent every waking moment with but he, sadly, passed away last Fall. I’m so grateful l was on sick leave and we was able to return all the love he gave to me, by caring for him all day in his last months. He left behind a very independent alley cat he helped me rescue, as a kitten, and a very sad, lonely person. I wanted another Burmese but couldn’t get one soon. While waiting, I fell in love with a flame point fluff who resembles a Ragdoll, and now I have a new conversationalist and bathroom companion. 😂. He doesn’t let me go anywhere without him, but I couldn’t live without that. He and my alley cat are best friends, too. She bonds more tightly with other cats than with people. She didn’t have the early socialization to people kittens need, but she may also just have an independent personality.
My cat Lola is very talkative, we have nice long chats. Her brother Loki is fairly quiet but has been getting a bit more chatty lately. I had a longhair cat once, (current cats are shorthair) he never got poop stuck but I can see how it can happen, it happens to my Havanese dog.
A ragdoll is definitely for me. I’m a person who gets stressed out often and I never had any real friend to comfort me. I’ve always wanted a dog bc they’re really playful and cuddly, but I also like cats. I can imagine coming home from a bad, tiring day to an adorable cloud cat waiting for me and ready to cuddle and play with me. Always wanted that type of friend. I’m planning to adopt one in the next 2 or 3 years, when I move out from my recent home
I am now a proud cat* owner. I think they are a little less maintenance than dogs. Pretty much house break themselves for starters. Pros and cons to each im sure… so get one of each lol
@@TheCatButlerI am getting a cat very soon and would like to ask if they are very playful with others cause I would like a cat with a puppy personality ❤
both of my brothers had cats but both cats passed away... one was black & older that passed away first & 2nd one was this type of cat & was up to 5 years old i think & sadly passed away same week as my Grandpa passed away
Our three year old ragdoll is our first ( longhair )self-grooming cat. Not a single knot. Very well mannered. Too friendly to strangers. Can't fight for territory, demands too much cuddle time.
@@doragjoestar6140 Not in the almost 4 years we have had him. He does 99% poop outside, when inside he does his thing in the bathtub, but only with company and only if its clean, but all that depends on how the breeder taught them and their personality. When we picked up our ragdoll, there was also his sister who was very timid and could only live in a flat.
I never thought I could have a cat as they terrified me. Then, after years of pleading from my daughter we got a ragdoll. He is amazing - clean, affectionate, calm, cuddly.and clingy (which I suddenly find I like! Memphis is truly part of the family.
My ragdoll, Leo, is actually quite timid and doesn't like strangers. He is fine with other animals though! He also likes to be held on his own terms lol.
My ragdoll Bella is similar, so I understand the personality. Buddy is just over a year old and a big boy that loves being cuddled. He is a lap boy but my lap is not big enough for him any more...he still manages to adjust himself somehow. Then he begins to make biscuits...love him to bits:)
My guy is the same he don't like to be held . But when he feels I deserve it in the morning, he is the most lovey, and he will come sit on my tummy when I'm laying down . He isn't very vocal unless he wants in a room at night before we go to bed he gives us leg massage. Lol I wished he enjoyed being held but he really hates it
@@whateverheather655 Try massaging his scalp with your thumb working upwards from just above his eyes/nose up while scratching the back of his skull/neck with your fingers/nails...while holding in "baby feeding" position Marlin loves it and it's literally our greeting every time we cross paths I've even put him to sleep in this position Only because I'm boring
The love of my life, my 18 yr old cat, crossed over the rainbow bridge about 6 months ago (peacefully, on my lap, under the care of a mobile vet). While not yet ready to be adopted again, I would be very open to having a ragdoll adopt me! Your cats are beautiful, you do a great job on your videos, and I love your calming voice!
I'm so sorry about your baby. I lost a beloved kitty 2.5 months ago and he died in my arms too. I've got a soulmate ragdoll who is 13 and I love him so much. He's my best friend.
I adopted two 7-year-old female ragdoll cats four months ago. They’re absolutely adorable. They are very chill, and I’ve fallen completely in love with them. They indeed follow me around the house. They love to cuddle, and they do indeed wait for me at the door if I’m gone. I had never heard of this breed before. I already can’t imagine my life without them.
I rescued my cat from the streets and didn't know she was this breed until now and I love this video because it's teaching me so much about her. I love my Ragdoll and she is the sweetest cat on the planet 😊
That's exactly what my thought. Ragdoll,s are not street cat. Normally not finding it on the street, unless just simply took someone's cat.Original owner must have been looking for him/her.
We had a flame point ragdoll and he was the best cat in the world. He was sweet, affectionate, loving to other cats. He's been gone for 8 years and we miss him everyday. He was one of a kind.
I lost my beautiful Ragdoll 3 weeks ago. I was lucky to be his favorite human for 14 years. I adopted him in 2010 from a rescue group and thought he was 2 years old then until I found his paperwork around six months ago and discovered he was actually 4. Regardless, I was unready for his demise. Macchiato whom we called Mocha was allergic to flea bites. He would get crusty, itchy skin so I always kept flea treatment for him. I took in a stray during covid and another from my neighbors who died in a motorcycle accident. I still have too many cats and the chance of more fleas. You might say it was his time to go but Mocha was very healthy for his age. I thought he was just less active due to aging but he soon stopped eating. After taking him to the vet and getting blood work done I learned he had feline bartonellosis. The bartonella henselea bacteria infects cats through flea dirt. I had misplaced Mochas last dose of flea treatment thus he went for about a week before my order came. I combed him with a flea comb and sometimes found 1 or 2 fleas. From what I've read feral cats and outdoor cats who have flea infestations normally get this condition. Mocha lived only 3 days after he started treatment with antibiotics. My heart is broken and I have such guilt that my wonderful kitty died from a damn flea. Cats can harbor this bacteria, be asymptomatic and never get ill. Bartonella henselea is the cause of human infections called "cat scratch fever" that I've heard older people talk about many years ago. While some may say he was old and it was his time to go he was not suppose to die this way! I was lucky to have him but he still had some good years left if mommy hadn't failed him. I was so blessed to have him for 14 years but feel so much guilt that I killed my cat. Let this be a warning to all who read this. I never knew a flea could kill my cat. He was so very special. He never had any bad behaviors and virtually never meowed or made any sound unless something was wrong. He would just sit on the coffee table or sometimes the floor and stare at me with those beautiful piercing blue eyes as though he was telepathic and thought I could read his mind. Rest in peace my sweet Mocha!! I will always have your paw prints on my heart!
I am sorry for your loss, and it is a loss. I think your guilt is misplaced but that’s me. Remember every wonderful time, and let the rest go. I don’t give advice , this is only my Opinion.
We had the poop problem with our Ragdoll, Julio. The first few months with him, he would always get poop stuck on his fur and he made the cleaning process very annoying and frustrating for us, since he wouldn't stay still. Luckily, this continued for only 2 months, and then it stopped happening. A possible reason could be that he has now grown up. He's almost a year old now and he was 3-5 months when we had the poop problem.
My ragdoll cat is the best cat I’ve ever had in my whole life. He is my buddy. His name is Rufus. He loves people, cats, dogs, birds. He is just sooo chill and loving. He is my little blessing.
I find it soooooo cute how the cats kept licking each other and I was mainly inspired to get a ragdoll cat because I just absolutely love their lushious fur. I mean how can you say no to that under any circumstances ❤
The best thing about cats is that there are cats for all personalities and preferences. Independent or cuddly, hairful or hairless, vocal or quiet. Some people prefer a companion who minds its own business, goes out and about, returning after days; while others like a lap cat who they can shower with with love and attention, get all their favourite toys and a comfy bed. I picked the latter, and landed right here.
Thank u so much, I used to like dogs and I wanted to own one but For health reason I couldnt get one and I didnt like cats that much, but after I did some research and decided to watch a video about the ones I thought would suit me and the first video I watched was for these two cuties( I've never called a cat a cutie except for small kittens) but after I watched that video I loved cats and especially the Ragdoll so I thank u so much cause u made cats enter my heart in the best way possible ❤
I have a 17-year-old Ragfloof, adopted at 9 months. She's the most loving cat I've ever known, a wonderful foster mom and of course stunningly beautiful.
It’s good to know about that gene! We adopted an owner surrender black ragdoll cat a few months ago. He was overweight, panting and generally just really scared/traumatized. I put him on a raw food diet and he’s been getting lots of exercise playing with his new brother. He stopped panting altogether and lost the excess weight pretty fast. Now he loves sleeping belly up all the time. Still doesn’t like being held too much and feels trapped quickly. I just hope that giving him the best raw food I can find will prevent any genetic issues from developing further.
My rag doll sleeps ALL DAY and never follows me or sit with me. Just hangs in his fav spot and wakes up at night when I go to sleep. Love how he always lets me give him belly rubs though.
Our current cat is quite unusual to say the least. Rascal is an exotic hybrid of a male Selkirk Rex and female Ragdoll. He didn't follow the rest of this litter and inherit the father's curly hair. Even so he does have some long wavy hair in his mane. He is very active and super smart to the point where I had to change all the lever door handles to knobs as he learned to open them. His curiosity is boundless, especially with running water, and he follows us everywhere. When he finally tires, he makes you out to be his personal bed. My best friend ever.
So funny, my Ragdoll is just the opposite. I wanted a lap cat and thought a Ragdoll would be perfect. I did my research and found a reputable breeder who has raised and showed Ragdolls for years. Well long story short my kitty, Roxi, is now 10 years old and to this day has never jumped in my lap or any other member of my family's lap. She hates being held, she doesn't like strangers, she doesn't like other animals other than the family dog. She is so atypical of the breed lol. She is gorgeous but only wants to be admired from afar.
My Luna is the same. I guess we have independent cats 😅 she don't like people that she doesn't know especialy children. Same thing with other animals. She accepted my brother's cat after a year 😅 she's no lap jumper but she lovers to coudle and sleep togerher in a bed. Anyways she's perfect ❤
I had a ragdoll cat once. He was the friendliest little cuddle-ball I've ever seen. Sadly, he's crossed over. I miss that little goofball so much, especially since my life only ever seems to get worse, and his cuddles made things bearable.
My ragdoll only follows me around half the time, but he does demand cuddles at the wierdest times. Trim the leg fur to help with the poop getting stuck. I use a Furminator brush and my boy loves it. It keeps the fur down.
Our adorable & gorgeous Ragdoll came to us 2.5 years ago; he’s the BEST blessing in our home, to the extent that we wonder if he’s an angel in cat form! 😊
My ragdoll (who passed 6 months ago at 17.5) didn't get poop on her until the last few months of her life when she was ill.also her fur is easy to clean off furniture if you get the right kind. mine was very sweet but she didn't like to be held, she was very quite when she felt well, but talking when she was sick, she was very healthy most of your life started to develop a health isuue after 11 years. I am looking forward to getting another Ragdoll this year as I miss my sweet girl.
@@bettysmith4527n answer to your comment, shelters want you to take 2 at Time & usually they are so skittish & you don’t know what you are getting, in my life at this point I only wanted one cat as I have a small space. Also I wanted socialization., DNA testing of the parents and a certain personality; when I was a kid with my family that’s what we did adopt, so it’s not I don’t know…..things are different for me know & I choose to get what I want at this point, also easier to get insurance this way…. If you want to adopt why are looking at ragdolls?? My cousin adopted a Ragdoll, but the cat had behavioral issues from being in the shelter, so that’s why I do it this way…. You do you…..peace
I’ve had my blue bicolor ragdoll kitty named Adeline since 2014. I’m glad to admit that I’m definitely her most favorite human. She always does school homework with me and sits on online lessons. Sometimes I wander if she could pass an exam for me lol😂
I’m the proud owner of two ragdolls which I’ve had for over 18 months now. I thought this video was really helpful and accurate. He explained a lot of things that were relatable - for example, that ragdolls are really clingy. This is important because some people don’t want a clingy cat. If the owner gets a clingy cat when they didn’t want one, things could go wrong - they won’t take care of them properly, or will want to sell them. Selling them could lead to an uncaring owner taking the cat off their hands. The things people really need to know if they are going to get ragdolls are that you need to be willing to clip their paws and groom them and clean out their litter tray and feed them. It’s not actually that much effort but it does take a bit of time and organisation - you have to clean their tray every morning and evening, change their water and give them food twice a day, and bathe them and trim their claws once a month. Some cats don’t like being bathed so you might have to be quite firm with them! And don’t forget the cost - they need high protein foods which can be expensive. The best thing about my cats is the cuddles - they make me happy as the cats are so snuggly.
I was fortunate enough to get my beautiful ragdoll cat from a family that developed severe allergies from her. She is a "flamepoint" just like yours. She puts up with being held but is not real fond of it. She is also very afraid of loud noises. It hurts me to see her be so afraid of thunder, fireworks or just something dropping on the floor. We do our best to comfort her and she has a safe space in my master closet where I put soothing music on until the noise is gone. I love your channel and your fur babies. Keep up the great job!
Hi Dmarie loved reading your comment! You are angel for adopting her and love your patience. In time she will build a relationship with you and you will start to see her change! Arya was like this in the beginning. Scared of me. And kept to herself but over time she has become the most loving cat. They do recognize your love eventually :)
You have the best information and show the results of your love. You are one of the main reasons why I am a great partner to my Ragamuffin, Ollie. I tell everyone about your channel. Ollie is doing so well, and he continues to grow up happy and healthy. Thank you so very much.
I was left with a cat, Theodore, by a house mare who abandoned him. I kept him and he was just a kitten. I had no idea what kind of cat he was. My girlfriend told me about rag doll cats. And after I watched this I realized that’s what he is. This is him exactly. He speaks all the time and loves to be held. He’s all black. He’s beautiful. I call him my Purr Panther. I’m happy I found out what kind of cat he is. He is only about a year old. He’s a lovely boy.
@@TheCatButler yeah it is I love him. I knew he wasn’t just a “regular” cat because his attitude, demeanor, behavior, and personality, and the fact he grew very big very fast. I thought maybe he was a Maine Coon hybrid, but my gf who knows cat breeds better than I, she sent me a photo of a black Ragdoll, with this caption “look like anyone you know?” And it did look just like him, like a twin. So I looked it up and found this video and it all lines up. I’m pretty sure Mr Theodore is a Ragdoll cat. Your cats even meow just like he does, though his voice is a bit deeper, it sounds almost the same.
Love the video, I got a rescue cat, who later on i found out is a mix breed of a ragdoll and a shorthair, she is a truly wonderful cat and shows all the normal signs of a ragdoll but with much shorter hair which makes maintaining her coat so much easier. The only thing that is different from a typical ragdoll is that she isnt the most chatty and doesnt enjoy meeting a lot of people. When we first got her, we thought she was mute because of how quiet she was. She gets really scared and anxious when there are people around and generally just likes to be around me (the owner) and my mom (cat nanny).
Thank you so much for the vids. Your beautiful rag dolls look so much like my own rag doll girl! I just lost my precious Lorelei last month after 18 years of a wonderful relationship. I am completely devastated and trying to work through my loss so I can provide a loving home for another rag doll soon. Seeing them is still a bit painful, but brings back so many good memories too. Thank you my friend for sharing.
Hi Richard sorry to hear that! I wish you the best from one ragdoll doll owner to another. I can't wait to hear about your new ragdoll when you are ready to get one!
I have another tip, if u want a cat similar to a Ragdoll but is a short hair, consider getting a Burmese or a Russian blue cat. They both love cuddles, being held, spending time with their owners & are great with kids. The only difference is that: 1. Burmese cats are clingy and they can't be left for long periods of time other wise they become lonely which can later lead to negative behavior. To prevent negative behavior: -Get another cat or a dog to keep it company. -Or if you work from home the better. With Russian Blues, they're more independent so they can do slightly better in terms of staying alone. Though it's better to have company for this cat so it can be active through play. 🐈🐾
Thankyou for taking the time to look at photos of Pangur, Helios and Artemis. Most of these things are definitely true of Helios and Artemis. Helios loves his lap time and follows Jordan everywhere! It was funny watching your ragdoll attack your pants! Jordan left his jeans on Helios favourite chair the other day so Helios started attacking the jeans. Artemis is super good at doing back flips when she plays. My son, Jordan and I watch your videos together sometimes. Jordan loves that your babies look so much like Helios.
Angela your cats are beautiful. How does back flips work with Artemis? Love to see what that looks like! And really love that the videos bring joy to your family!
I love my ragdoll cat, he’s the sweetest kitty I’ve ever been around. He just wants to be friends with everybody and he loves to be held, he sometimes will fall asleep in my arms 😂. And he gets poop stuck in his fur. Enjoyed the video good stuff
I have always wanted a ragdoll cat but so far I have a red maincoon. I must say she has the same characterteristic as your rag dolls. She is playful and vocal.
cons: 1. They shed a lot. 2. They are well cute 3. have i mentioned they shed alot? 4. have we contacted you about your cats extended shedding warranty?
Your two look like my Rowe who passed away in 2019. He was a cream and white bi color with blue eyes. Only thing was that his mama was a petite short haired black tortie. Its owner had no idea where Rowe got his looks...but I know! When I went to pick him up from his owner, I saw a beautiful cream and white bi color male Ragdoll lurking around the perimeter of the yard! He was such a good boy but was more rambunctious than the average Ragdoll--he picked up a bit of his mama's tortie personality!
My ragdoll is now 10 and stills loves going on walks, especially in the summer time. It did take her time to warm up to the family, but she has been my cuddle buddy since she bonded with me, 3 days after her arrival.
My ragdoll Pixel is a gentleman, he will be affectionate and playful and will politely ask for attention, he doesn't like being held but plays fetch like a golden retriever. I love him so much ❤❤
The hygienic fur trimming is indeed needed but if your cat is getting poo sticking to the fur frequently, perhaps changing the ration/diet would help. The hygienic trimming is indeed recommended. Ragdolls are one of the best cat breads. They are very gentle even with little children and babies. Learning their vocalization is fun and will add a lot to the relationship. They'll reward you. 🙂
I had a ragdoll for nearly 20 years, and she was quite different from the ones described here. Mine was very gentle and tolerant to any kind of handling, but wasn't at all affectionate. She didn't mind company but would never try to jump up on laps and only really tolerated/enjoyed cuddles for short bursts. She loved to try and escape the house and run off into the forest, which was a constant source of stress early on, and was also really bad at hunting and would gently pick up skinks in the garden before letting them go, even though she seemed to enjoy the process. she was very talkative though and very LOUD when she wanted something. In the end, she had a lot of kidney-related issues that made her final years fairly uncomfortable for her, and became quite expensive to keep alive, and also went deaf as many older blue-eyed cats do. Overall as far as cats go, I think ragdolls really are almost perfect housecats, though they won't always adhere to the floppy baby reputation they have.
My sister has a Flame Point Siamese which has the same personality and look, but with shorter hair. Her little fellow has been a real joy like these two.
We love our Ragdoll! Our cat is so fun and social. He loves fetching and being held. He gets along with the whole family and our other rescue cats. The hair is something for sure. Ha ha ha
I have a rag doll cat who is about 6 months old, her name is Ali. She’s very sweet and cuddly! She does go limp if someone picks her up! She is a lover and either sits on my lap, lays on top of me when I nap 😴 she is so adorable little lady. I have her brother as well. He is a black and white tuxedo. They are so funny to watch together. I am waiting for them to get old enough to be spaded and neutered. My daughter brought them a new climbing, scratching tree last night and they are having fun with it. Thank you so much for sharing your video!! Su
I hear you about developing allergies years later, I was one of those people...never allergic to anything my whole life until I turned 31...and then 'trees, pollen, grasses'....my eyes go, my nose and throat get affected but luckily not too badly. Your video is extremely informative about one of my favourite breeds of cat 'Ragdolls' and it's helping me immensely as I'm possibly going to purchase one, I had no clue about the 'trick' in shaving their bottom in order to help alleviate their fur sticking there. Thank you, your cats are absolutely gorgeous.💞💞
Yeah agree with you! Never knew allergies can just show up :(. I am glad the video was helpful! I have to say getting my two lovely ragdolls was the best decision I ever made :). Can't wait to hear about your ragdolls!
@@TheCatButler Thank you so much, you're an awesome "Hooman" to them, I love that saying when I see cat videos...enjoy...I will keep you in my loop, I'm looking for a couple of kittens, I want my kitty to have a playmate unlike my other sweetheart Stormy.❤❤
We adopted an 11-month-old Ragdoll girl this weekend. I'm in love with her. Her new brother, a 15-month-old Siamese from the same rescue at the same time, thinks she's insane.
I also have two. My girl will be 19 in a few months and my big boy, who is about 15 lbs, is 7. My cats are both loving, vocal, and can be quite funny, but neither is a lap cat. My 18 yr old, now that she's slowed down alot is always by my side on the sofa. Much more than her younger days. While my boy is content to be in the same room as we are, but again, not a lap cat nor do either of my cats really like to be picked up. They tolerate it but can't wait for us to put them down. It goes to show that while there are "Breed Traits", each cat has their own individual personality. One thing that I completely agree with is their tolerance. These cats are as docile as I've ever met. It takes a lot to anger them. My 10 yr old niece can be a little rough with my boy, and he is a trooper. She picks him up, and since he's 15 lbs, it's a lot for her to carry, but she does, and he loves her so much. You can't really ask for a more loving breed than these beautiful cats.
I think the ragdoll and the samoyed are almost flawless as companion pets. And I know, this can sound exaggerated, the ragdoll is too docile and not as independent, so I can see why some people would consider that a negative trait for a cat... but talking about the basic concept of a gentle pet, these two are just the best, especially the samoyed who is gentle like a golden, but it's fur don't cause allergies and neither smells if the dog is wet
We must be cousins I have this breed of dog ruclips.net/video/I9JJwr0xGiE/видео.html Mom dad & 2 puppies @10weeks Just added a rag doll to the family exactly like in this video 2 weeks ago Would have loved a Samoyed but not enough yard space
I own one Ragdoll and one Siamese and one mixed breed.. My Ragdoll and Siamese are absolutely my best friend's. They comfort me,talk to me, and entertain me. They actually have a sense of humor and make me smile and laugh everyday. You can't put a price on that. 😎 Thanx for this great video on the best cat breed/ top 3 in the world. Cheers 😎
I lv my rag doll cat.❤️😇He is very smart. They are above the norm cat. I have had lots in my life. Took care of so many strays in my life. The rag doll cat,I have had two and both of them were a cut above with intelligence. The long hair is no problem actually. Brush them and if you need to vac 2 times a week, you would hopefully anyway.🌹
I had many pets throughout my life including various breeds of small and large dogs and cats. However we got our first Ragdoll cat almost 9yrs ago and instantly became hooked! Now have 3 and wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.
Thanks, this is helpful! We just adopted a cat 3 days ago who is most certainly part ragdoll (guessing from his appearance, texture of hair, and behavior). He has medium length hair instead of short, and that's about the only difference from a purebred.
We have 2 ragdolls and they couldn't be more different from each other, both are loving animals but one of them is very clingy and loves being held, the other one likes to keep to herself and does not like being picked up. Both are picky eaters and love pets.
a few months ago i got a tiny puppy, and she was already rolling on her belly on the car drive home. I had never experienced such a sweet animal in my life. Sadly, just a few weeks ago, she passed. Im looking for something that would be just as sweet. Ragdolls seem perfect, although im tearing up a little writing this.
I love my rescue kitty with all my heart, but if I ever get the chance to, I would love a ragdoll. A snuggly ball of fluff would be wonderful after a long workday.
Found your video pop up in my newsfeed. Love your Ragdoll fluffs. We’ve had Birmans for over 30 years & love the breed & can see why you love these 2 fluffs so much ❤ Thank you for sharing with us 🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾❤️
4:38 If that's coleus that your cat's nibbling on, you need to move it out of their reach immediately. Coleus contains an essential oil that can cause skin burns. So if it's swallowed, or gets on cat lips, it's going to cause harm.
Thanks for caring to point out tho! Yeah I was pretty strict with what plants I have in the house. So I did tons of research before introducing it in the house. It’s a nerve plant if you are wondering what it is
This was a great video! Mine are Siberians, rather than Ragdolls, but it's amazing how similar the two breeds' personalities are! My two act almost exactly like yours, down to laying on their backs in my arms
I have two female ragdolls, a seal point and a blue point. They're sisters that we got as kittens. I highly recommend getting two as kittens. My girls love to play with each other and keep each other company when we're not home. For anyone wanting to know if they shed much, for me it's not that big of a deal. Yes, they shed, but I've had other cats that have been worse. I run a Roomba twice a week. I never brush my ragdolls. They self groom. Neither one of my girls has ever had any matting problems. The only thing I have to do as far as upkeep with them is trim the hair around their behinds once every couple of months because their poop does get stuck in their fur if I don't. Something that our cats do that none of my other cats have ever done is lay on their backs to sleep. They're so cute! My seal point even quivers her tail at me. (Also something that none of my other cats have done). If you're on the fence about getting one, I highly recommend this breed. I love my girls so much. I've had cats my whole life and these girls are adorable.
I love all the advice from your channel and blog. The only additional thing I wish you recommended was wellness health insurance. As a new pet owner I didn't the know the difference between illness and wellness insurance. So I just followed what the breeder recommended, Trupanion. While they are a good company, it doesn't offer any wellness insurance to cover preventative medication, wellness routine visits, grooming, spaying/neuturing, routine bloodwork, etc... Btw if you pay out of pocket for the preventative care I've mentioned it can cost about $800 for your kitten's first year with $0 reimbursement from an illness insurance plan.
Yeah preventative care can be expensive! Here is video I did on pet insurance that talks about it! Hope it helps ruclips.net/video/gfRwOyG4lmk/видео.html
After having cats almost my whole life, I have my first practically silent cat. She has a tiny little voice and you know something's up if she uses it. It's crazy how silent she is, if she didn't have her little bell, I'd never hear her. Also, as I've always preferred short haired cats, I've never encountered poop stuck to fur - the area is fastidiously clean at all times 😸
@@oshafaalamkhan she's starting to become a little more "insistent" when food is involved - surprise, surprise! She sounds kind of like a little squeak. Maybe she knows how ridiculously cute she sounds and wants to keep up a "tough, silent" image. It just makes everyone chuckle more when she finally does "speak up"😄
I lost my cuddle travel buddy last year, and it gutted me . Ghengis Khan was on his 10th year when he developed the kidney disease that all male cats, and more so Ragdolls are prone to develop . My husband and I made the decision to let him go, rather than see him suffer more. He traveled with me everywhere ; he preferred to travel private, but at times he lowered his standards to First Class. I’m sure it wasn’t all the passengers telling him how gorgeous he was…. I would like to give a shout out to the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia as they always allowed him to stay, as long as I would take him out of the travel bag to walk the counter so they could pet him ( at the time their policy was ‘no cats’ ). I am loving your video. GK was a red, and my daughter always accused me of buying a cat to match my hair! Hmmm….well…
My family seems to have gotten a couple kittens from a litter that I believe the father is a ragdoll that is an outdoor cat. 1 of the kittens is like his father while the other is shorter haired. We love them both.
Very floppy, is wild, as of two days ago. gets along with others, other rescue cats, in Tijuana Mexico so far. from the begining and trying to get food, he was not to affraid and can looked at / into my soul
I own a ginger a tortie and a doll all girls shes my first ragdoll they are a different sort of cat. she sometimes hops like a bunny when she plays or when shes happy, she pouts with her mouth like a child when she doesnt like something she greets me after work she likes to snoop in cabinets she taught herself to open the doors in the kitchen, loves pets and back scatches at just over a year I'm looking forward to many more
(PLEASE READ THIS😊) I have had 12 cats in total (not all 12 together) and I regret not spending the time I should have spent with them all. I still remember every cats name and how their personality was. They are now at a better home and prob having a good life. One of the cats that chose me as their favourite person was half Manx and half Ragdoll (her name was Chloe and she was the mom of our kittens) the dad was half Maine coon and half Norwegian forest cat(his name was Mowgli) So the kittens were mixed. The first litter was 3 kittens (spiky, peach and Mowgli jr.) then they had another litter with 5 kittens (Simba, Stella, Olaf, Buller(a Danish name) and Scarlett) I really miss them all and the other two cats were my first cats tiger and sisi but we didn’t have them for so long (only 2 weeks I think). I was 7 when I had all the cats and we had to sell them all when I was 8 yrs old. Now I’m 13 and I want to become a veterinarian and own a vet clinic. I also want to be a cat specialist and I’m watching all your videos and I love them so much. You really help me with getting to know cats better and how to treat them. This means a lot to me really thank you so much for making these videos and taking your time to learn us about cat. I really appreciate it😊😌🤍👍
This actually broke my heart while writing this cuz I miss them all. Chloe and I used to cuddle on my bed for hours😞I still cry knowing I could have had them right now. In the next video The Cat Butler is gonna make I’m gonna explain why we had to sell them all😊
I found a stray ragdoll that was probably dumped. He was the sweetest boy I ever met and had a missing eye and no front claws. He also liked to lounge on me indefinitely. Never heard him ever say about two words. He liked to lay in a pile of Lego blocks. It must have felt good for his old bones. One morning I woke up and he was stiff as a board. He must have had the ACM you mentioned. Bad Eye was his name❤️
many years ago, i adopted a black, medium long-haired kitten. i was told at the time that she was a ragdoll. hadn't ever heard of that breed so just went with it. much more recently, i finally started seeing ragdoll cats. beautiful creatures that they are. so now i wonder, is there such a thing as a black ragdoll? she certainly fit all the personality criteria. it's just a curiosity at this point, of course, my baby is long gone after giving me 18 years of loving devotion, whatever her heritage. tia for any and all feedback.
I have a mixbreed ragdoll that love to cuddle and sleep under my armpit...i have the poop problem coz the hair is too long, she cant stay alone for too long, she wont answer me if i call he and only make noise when shes hungry or wana get into my room when i close the door
I have 2 longhaired cats. Both Maine Coon mixes. Never a bit of poop. My male loves being held but I don't do it much because he weighs over 20 lbs. A big guy!
I'm always surprised to hear there are those that don't like talkative cats! I would never consider that a "con" and love Siamese, Ragdoll and any other cats that talk as it's a great way to engage and bond with them. A real "pro" from my perspective!
so true! i feel like i sound like a crazy person when i talk back and forth with my cats, but they have so much to say!
I know right!! Their meows sound like music to me haha. I encourage it :)
Me too, that being said, when you are trying to sleep it can be annoying. 😊
Yes you described it spot on, that adorable cloud cat description.
I am now a proud cat* owner. I think they are a little less maintenance than dogs. Pretty much house break themselves for starters. Pros and cons to each im sure… so get one of each lol
Get 2 if you work. Cats get lonely too .
@@TheCatButlerI am getting a cat very soon and would like to ask if they are very playful with others cause I would like a cat with a puppy personality ❤

Cons of owning a cat: Nothing.
:) yes!
both of my brothers had cats but both cats passed away... one was black & older that passed away first & 2nd one was this type of cat & was up to 5 years old i think & sadly passed away same week as my Grandpa passed away
The litter box is the only real con.

Our three year old ragdoll is our first ( longhair )self-grooming cat. Not a single knot. Very well mannered. Too friendly to strangers. Can't fight for territory, demands too much cuddle time.
Hahah your Ragdoll sounds beautiful :)

@@doragjoestar6140 Not in the almost 4 years we have had him. He does 99% poop outside, when inside he does his thing in the bathtub, but only with company and only if its clean, but all that depends on how the breeder taught them and their personality. When we picked up our ragdoll, there was also his sister who was very timid and could only live in a flat.
alr thanks bro@@vladislavfeldman6562
I never thought I could have a cat as they terrified me. Then, after years of pleading from my daughter we got a ragdoll. He is amazing - clean, affectionate, calm, cuddly.and clingy (which I suddenly find I like! Memphis is truly part of the family.
I DONT SEE ANY CONS I WANT THE CAR NOW
My ragdoll, Leo, is actually quite timid and doesn't like strangers.

Hi Christine sorry to hear about your cat. I hope a Ragdoll adopts you soon :) and thank you!
"I would be very open to having a ragdoll adopt me!"
Yup yup yup
I IGNORANTLY thought I was THE ONE adopting a ragdoll
HOW WRONG WAS I
I'm so sorry about your baby. I lost a beloved kitty 2.5 months ago and he died in my arms too. I've got a soulmate ragdoll who is 13 and I love him so much. He's my best friend.
I rescued an abandoned ragdoll in 2008 and absolutely love her! She is a great companion for me, a widow and empty nester.
Thanks for sharing! I had a similar experience as well :)
I rescued my cat from the streets and didn't know she was this breed until now and I love this video because it's teaching me so much about her. I love my Ragdoll and she is the sweetest cat on the planet 😊
:D
They're super expensive! How did you find them on the streets?
@@nishthagupta1357steps to find a ragdoll on the street :
1: find a boujie neighbourhood
2: search for a ragdoll
@@nishthagupta1357lol
Mocha knows you loved him and did your best. Don't beat yourself up. Thanks for the info. Blessings.
I am sorry for your loss, and it is a loss. I think your guilt is misplaced but that’s me. Remember every wonderful time, and let the rest go. I don’t give advice , this is only my Opinion.
Thanks!
Thank you for your generous tip!
4:08 omg what a cutie 🥺 her little paws on your arm are so cute!
Indeed a cute moment caught on camera!
Glad it was resolved!
Cat poo is so bad as well
My ragdoll cat is the best cat I’ve ever had in my whole life. He is my buddy. His name is Rufus. He loves people, cats, dogs, birds. He is just sooo chill and loving. He is my little blessing.
Tamara Rufus sounds like the best :D
I find it soooooo cute how the cats kept licking each other and I was mainly inspired to get a ragdoll cat because I just absolutely love their lushious fur. I mean how can you say no to that under any circumstances ❤
Calista i know right? :D
yeppp i feel the same way with my pomeranian 😂😂😂 i love my little fluff ball
The best thing about cats is that there are cats for all personalities and preferences. Independent or cuddly, hairful or hairless, vocal or quiet. Some people prefer a companion who minds its own business, goes out and about, returning after days; while others like a lap cat who they can shower with with love and attention, get all their favourite toys and a comfy bed. I picked the latter, and landed right here.
Thank u so much,
I used to like dogs and I wanted to own one but For health reason I couldnt get one and I didnt like cats that much, but after I did some research and decided to watch a video about the ones I thought would suit me and the first video I watched was for these two cuties( I've never called a cat a cutie except for small kittens) but after I watched that video I loved cats and especially the Ragdoll so I thank u so much cause u made cats enter my heart in the best way possible ❤
I miss my ragdoll so much!! RIP Chloe ❤
Jill sorry to hear that. I wish you the best!
Sorry to hear that Jill. I really love rag dolls too, and I know how it feels for one of your cats to go on 😢
I have a 17-year-old Ragfloof, adopted at 9 months.
I am glad that the raw diet helped!
We love our ragdoll ! She’s awesome! Sweet, talkative, gentle, fun, very smart.
Good point on trimming the leg fur!
Our adorable & gorgeous Ragdoll came to us 2.5 years ago; he’s the BEST blessing in our home, to the extent that we wonder if he’s an angel in cat form! 😊
Thank you for sharing your experience! They are indeed living angels :)
Neda thanks for sharing your beautiful sweet girl! Look forward to hearing about your new ragdoll!

Time & usually they are so skittish & you don’t know what you are getting, in my life at this point I only wanted one cat as I have a small space.
Sometimes I wander if she could pass an exam for me lol😂

so cute
Thank you for such a thoughtful answer! Love how you take care of your kitty!
@@TheCatButler thank you ! I love looking after them-they're so cute.

@@TheCatButler yeah it is I love him. I knew he wasn’t just a “regular” cat because his attitude, demeanor, behavior, and personality, and the fact he grew very big very fast.
I thought maybe he was a Maine Coon hybrid, but my gf who knows cat breeds better than I, she sent me a photo of a black Ragdoll, with this caption “look like anyone you know?”
And it did look just like him, like a twin.

The only difference is that:
1. Burmese cats are clingy and they can't be left for long periods of time other wise they become lonely which can later lead to negative behavior.
To prevent negative behavior:
-Get another cat or a dog to keep it company.
-Or if you work from home the better.
With Russian Blues, they're more independent so they can do slightly better in terms of staying alone. Though it's better to have company for this cat so it can be active through play. 🐈🐾
Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Helpful tip!
Thankyou for taking the time to look at photos of Pangur, Helios and Artemis. Most of these things are definitely true of Helios and Artemis. Helios loves his lap time and follows Jordan everywhere!

Ha ha ha

They are so funny to watch together. I am waiting for them to get old enough to be spaded and neutered. My daughter brought them a new climbing, scratching tree last night and they are having fun with it. Thank you so much for sharing your video!! Su
Thanks for sharing your story. Ali sounds like a sweet heart :D
Thank you for the lovely insight. I'm planning to get one in a near future. Ragdoll has been my favourite breed since i was in high school!
Oh I’m excited can’t wait for when you get one :)
Oh god their faces when meowing 🥺🩷♥️❤️💕✨
My ragdoll cat Harvey does not like being held lol. He prefers belly rubs and getting pet instead
We adopted an 11-month-old Ragdoll girl this weekend. I'm in love with her. Her new brother, a 15-month-old Siamese from the same rescue at the same time, thinks she's insane.
awww congrats!
As a fellow Aria I’m definitely looking forward to adopting my first rag doll hopefully early next year
Aria that is awesome! Look forward to hearing about your Ragdoll when you get it :)
Yes agree!
We must be cousins
I have this breed of dog ruclips.net/video/I9JJwr0xGiE/видео.html
Mom dad & 2 puppies @10weeks
Just added a rag doll to the family exactly like in this video 2 weeks ago
Would have loved a Samoyed but not enough yard space
I own one Ragdoll and one Siamese and one mixed breed..
My Ragdoll and Siamese are absolutely my best friend's.
They comfort me,talk to me, and entertain me.
They actually have a sense of humor and make me smile and laugh everyday.
You can't put a price on that. 😎
Thanx for this great video on the best cat breed/ top 3 in the world.
Cheers 😎
Awww thanks for sharing! Siamese and Ragdoll are indeed the best :)
Thx for the video, I recently got a 2 month old ragdoll and this video helped a lot
Congrats on your new ragdoll!
Yes ragdolls are the best :D
Any cat is right for you!
Cats are awesome.
Cats are the biggest blessings on earth. This one seems like a cat soulmate to me. I'll hopefully get one later in life!
Look at that sweet little face. A pretty little kitty 0:10
All of the Ragdolls in this video are so adorable 🥰
a few months ago i got a tiny puppy, and she was already rolling on her belly on the car drive home. I had never experienced such a sweet animal in my life. Sadly, just a few weeks ago, she passed. Im looking for something that would be just as sweet. Ragdolls seem perfect, although im tearing up a little writing this.
They seem very similar to my 2 Chinchilla Persians. So much fur!
Chinchilla Persians are beautiful!
I love my rescue kitty with all my heart, but if I ever get the chance to, I would love a ragdoll. A snuggly ball of fluff would be wonderful after a long workday.
Found your video pop up in my newsfeed. Love your Ragdoll fluffs. We’ve had Birmans for over 30 years & love the breed & can see why you love these 2 fluffs so much ❤ Thank you for sharing with us 🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾❤️
Thank you! Birmans are adorable as well :).
4:38 If that's coleus that your cat's nibbling on, you need to move it out of their reach immediately. Coleus contains an essential oil that can cause skin burns. So if it's swallowed, or gets on cat lips, it's going to cause harm.
Oh it’s not coleus.
@@TheCatButler Whew, that's a relief.
Thanks for caring to point out tho! Yeah I was pretty strict with what plants I have in the house. So I did tons of research before introducing it in the house. It’s a nerve plant if you are wondering what it is
@@TheCatButler I've never seen a pink nerve plant with so much pink, before! It's really pretty. :)
Thanks!
This was a great video! Mine are Siberians, rather than Ragdolls, but it's amazing how similar the two breeds' personalities are! My two act almost exactly like yours, down to laying on their backs in my arms
Thanks for sharing! Siberians are beautiful cats. And it’s funny how alike our cats are!
I’m new to your Chanel and I’m in love with it already! I have a British short hair cat at home and this was really interesting to watch
Hey thank you for the kind comment! Welcome :)
Hope it helps

Never met a silent cat before haha!
@@TheCatButler it was a surprise to me! My last cat would answer you back for however long you kept up☺️
My Shiro is just like this, He is becoming a bit talkative now, but He is Really silent and gentle, but he doesn't like Strangers and Animals too
So sweet
@@oshafaalamkhan she's starting to become a little more "insistent" when food is involved - surprise, surprise! She sounds kind of like a little squeak. Maybe she knows how ridiculously cute she sounds and wants to keep up a "tough, silent" image. It just makes everyone chuckle more when she finally does "speak up"😄
I am getting my rag doll baby next month! I can’t wait!
Oh so exciting! :)
Hmmm….well…
They are so stunning.
Thank you!
My family seems to have gotten a couple kittens from a litter that I believe the father is a ragdoll that is an outdoor cat. 1 of the kittens is like his father while the other is shorter haired. We love them both.
They are gorgeous!!!!!!!
Very floppy, is wild, as of two days ago. gets along with others, other rescue cats, in Tijuana Mexico so far. from the begining and trying to get food, he was not to affraid and can looked at / into my soul
I have a ragdoll. He is the most cutest baby I’ve ever had ❤
In the next video The Cat Butler is gonna make I’m gonna explain why we had to sell them all😊
That is beautiful dream to be a veterinarian. I love it! You will help so many cats :)
Bad Eye was his name❤️
they are gorgeous
Susan thank you!
many years ago, i adopted a black, medium long-haired kitten. i was told at the time that she was a ragdoll. hadn't ever heard of that breed so just went with it. much more recently, i finally started seeing ragdoll cats. beautiful creatures that they are. so now i wonder, is there such a thing as a black ragdoll? she certainly fit all the personality criteria. it's just a curiosity at this point, of course, my baby is long gone after giving me 18 years of loving devotion, whatever her heritage. tia for any and all feedback.
Yes there is!
A big guy!
They’re perfect!
Thank you!
