I know this is about the snare.. But I can't get over how smooth, slick, and fat sounding your playing is. I've played with so many drummers over the years in studios and on the road, but none with quite the feeling you've developed. I know we're supposed to stay humble in this world.. but if I were you I'd stop and take moments to say "Did I just do that..? Yeah I just did that."
On a side note.. This performance needs to go into a Road House remake.
Talk about smooth feel and pocket on a basic groove... check out this Rob Brown video below. (Go to the three minutes, 50 second mark.) I watch this everyday and hope it will soak in.

Nice to see you at the office for a change! 👏🌹🇦🇺✌️
Not usually a fan of deep snares, just because I prefer getting a really tight and sensitive response which I've found easier to get on shallower snares, and it makes more sense for the jazz and light rock drumming I do (and it even sounds good for the heavier rock and metal stuff I do). But that 8" snare sounds amazing!! I would say that's the perfect deep rock/funk sound that's been missing all my life. Awesome drumming and loving the Todd Sucherman sticks!!
Love your videos, and really loved watching you play. I've been a big fan of the 8x14 Yamaha RC Birch snare for years. I'm sure the new one is awesome, but I have jet black 1983 Japan made snare and I think it would be impossible for the new one to top that
RBB... loving when you play your funky stuff. ... 💙👊😎
"But i didn´t understand Drums before Rob came to town" :)
Great playing. Great feel. Drums sound beautiful. Snare is an animal!!!! I want a swish like that!!!
Perfect snare for that fat funky sound. I enjoyed your creative beats in this rendition. Thanks for putting this up
Nice playing. Good tones...
Nice work on that tune brother. Snare adds a deep groove too. Nice. 👍🏼🇨🇦
Please make a full video of your gig. Would be awesome to watch you with a band.
Sir, I have to thank you so much for the Gadd shuffle video a while back, now using that feel on a lot songs now, Thanx, your the Man!
That snare sounds awesome. Great cover everyone sounded great
These gents are the best 💯
very smooth man!
Yay!
Man,that swish is DYNOMITE. I just wish paiste could give us something that sounded good for a affordable price, kinda like they did with the pst7 line. All the drummers I talk to say the same thing.Id like to see paiste do a 22 inch pst7 swish.!!! Put a bug in there ear Rob.Do it for the guys that can't afford 525.00 BUCKS FOR ONE CYMBAL.They could sell a ton of them. GREAT PLAYING AS ALWAYS ROB.
Great video Rob, it was good meeting you at the Todd Sucherman drum clinic! When I left I wasn't sure who I was more excited to have met lol
YES! Another one Rob. Thank you sir
Sounding so good man. Love your touch.
That snare sounds great Rob! Excellent drumming as always!
Man great sounding snare but not nearly as great as the player. You're a true inspiration; an absolute pleasure to watch you work!
Thanks man 🙂👊🏽
Sounds great Rob! I love NewWorldSon, excellent singer!
Love the sound of that snare tho! Sounds great man! Keep up the good work Rob!
That snare sounds nice, meaty and beautiful! :)
Such a solid pocket!
Thanks, man 🙂✌🏽
DAT SWISH!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!
Iss crazy, right?! Every household should have one.
No error with Yamaha! I have one and I love it! Peace man, you're mean!
❤
Great sounding kit Rob. Nice playing as well :) This song is sweet...
Solid! I've only been learning drums for a little over a couple years now (I'm coming from years as a piano player), and it's been great watching and learning from a drummer with traditional grip. I sacrifice a little power for a lot of expressiveness. Not enough traditional grip players out there on the web it seems.
Oh yeah, great technique, like your feel
Just... wow. Nuff said.
I’ve noticed you burry the your stick on your snare notes. I’ve seen it done many times on a kick but never a snare. Is this a sound you are going for or is this just a habit you’ve never broken? I’m not criticizing...It sounds great!
Great snare sound.🔥
Nice work Rob!
Band sounds great! The snare sounds bomb too, I’m putting some down on that same one when they arrive in January.
Nice 🙂👊🏽🥁
Great job make drum playing seem easy
Love ur playing like the live playing ps. keep the snare just gwt rhe natural 1 and have 2..😎
Wow that snare is a cannon
Ain’t it??!! Can’t wait to mess with the whole range and hear the rest of it!
Rob Brown yeah man yamaha made a real gem. Hope you do a full demo video with different tunings!
Great Video
Great stuff here brother! Love that snare. there's just something about the fat sound those deep snares put out.
Just out of curiosity, how does playing behind a screen feel? Does it affect how monitoring works? Any weird sound reflections?
I hate cages myself. But I’d rather be asked to play in a cage than asked to pull back on my volume. It can get bouncy and loud in those things. How bad it gets depends on if it’s a partial or full enclosure
Beautiful snare Rob! I'd be most interested to know which heads are fitted and how it's tuned 👍
Just the stock Remo heads out of the box. Coated Ambassador on top tuned mid-low and Ambassador Snare cranked right up👌🏽
Great stuff man! When u get a new snare, how do know what sound to tune it to? Don't they all have their own characteristics?
You basically just tune for the job, man. Consider the music you’re playing and tune for the vibe. Sometimes that could also mean bringing a couple different sized snares.
Your style here is very Steve Jordan(ish).
I’ll take that. HUGE compliment 🙂👊🏽
Real quick ;)
What snare stand do you use? Always have to mcgyver something to get low enough to hold my 15x8. Sounds great. Sorry about the cage situation.
Hey rob would you mind doing a tutorial on odd groupings I really don’t understand them and would like to
hey Rob...nice tune...is it nice to play in isolation booth or it is comprimise you have to take?
I hate them cages, man. But I’d rather be asked to play in a cage than be asked to watch my volume. There’s a disconnect with the rest of your band and if your soundguy sucks, it can make for an unpleasant experience. But I get why they’re needed
yeah....my thought also...thanks for the answer and the kzs recomendation...keep the thump alive!
Can the sound possibly come straight out of the board? Because I would enjoy your playing A WHOLE LOT better!
Yall kicking and that snare is barking too
tuned low , med ?
Rob, what's name of the song you're playing?
Are you trying some other new sticks?
There was a pair of Todd Sucherman Signature sticks included with my welcome pack when I hooked up with Promark and decided to try em out. LOVE em. Fat maple. They're very light, but beefy and felt pretty fantastic.
Indeed, i was recommending those in the comments of your Why i left Vic Firth video. I alternate between the 5B rebound and Todd´s signature sticks and love them too.
@@frozd58 How do they feel when compared to the 5b rebounds? I've fallen in love with 5a and 5b rebound sticks.
They are lighter as they are made of Maple. I think the weight distribution of the rebounds is more oriented to the butt end. They do feel nice i must say. If you dig the rebounds , you will like those if you are looking for lighter sticks.
Where are all my drums?
Well, everyone is looting stuff, to buy more weed, now ... 😉
SERiously 😐🌿lol
Dude it was made legal in Canada not south central la
