    3:41 Pippen signaling Paxson to go for the steal to distract the player from the block. A strategy perfected by him & MJ to deal w/ fast breaks.

    Even the late great Kobe used to praise Scottie's defense after watching film of him. Notice at start of this they mention Akeem(2×D.P.Y.'93,'94) & Pippen as the only 2 players in history of playoffs to get 5 blocks & 5 steals in the same game!!!

    Steals are credited to the defensive player who first causes the turnover, even if he does not end up with possession of the live ball. To earn a steal, the defensive player must be the initiator of the action causing the turnover, not just the benefactor.
    Under this definition, the plays at 1:00 and 5:25 should be counted as steals for Pippen, "even if he does not end up with possession of the live ball." Other than the other 4 steals in this video, I could not find any other possessions in the game which could have been counted as steals for Pippen. So these two must have counted towards his 6 steal total.

      Nicholas Pagano
      Baron Davis is the all-time playoff leader in steals per game. Steals alone don’t make him or Paul good defenders. And in the playoffs there are several players who have more playoff runs of 2+ SPG past the 1st Round
      - Jordan Pippen Cheeks Bird
      and 2.5+ SPG past the 1st Round
      - Baron Davis, Drexler, Cheeks
      than Paul anyway.

      @Nicholas Pagano Chris Paul has weak competition for the steals title. For example, the late 80s to early 90s was a yearly race between Michael Jordan, Alvin Robertson (all-time spg leader), & John Stockton (all-time total steals leader). All three were drafted in 1984, along w/ Hakeem Olajuwon.

      apson1 definitely the defensive SF GOAT. That's why Jordan would put him in his all time starting 5. Don't take my word for it. He said it.

      Jay Cas Jordan also said Pippen was the second best player on the 94 Olympic team. Which I agree with. Jordan and Pippen were 1 and 2 in their eras they were above everybody

      Talk to me about the 95 season when he begged Jordan to come back cuz they were barely .500, “franchise player” Pippen has had more games in the playoffs shooting less than 30% from the field than 30 point games 😂😂😂.

      @@TuMadreeeOne season with unreliable teammates. Talk about the 94 season when he had Grant. MJ always had Pip and when he didn’t where did he get? First rounds exit. Pip is a franchise player. If u our Prime Pippen with that young 94 warriors team or with mourning in the heat they a contender. Even an end or carrer and injured Pippen was still putting in work with Portland

    • @UncleJay27
      @UncleJay27 6 лет назад +4

      Young Rain tell that to Scottie's defense. Also, Scottie played by the rules, didn't pad his stats, didn't flop didn't cry, didn't complain, didn't snitch to the commissioner if someone was name calling, didn't need another playmaker, didn't recruit multiple players a year, didn't leave his team with 10 other players, didn't need to return with 15 more players, didn't lose the finals with the number 4 defense, wasn't such a liability on defense, didn't try to stack the deck, and didn't get his ass whooped by role players in the 2011 finals. Is LeBron really that great or did you fail the eye test? There's no debating this. Peace.

    • @zmoneytmnt
      @zmoneytmnt 6 лет назад

      Please Scottie's offense was near non existent on transition plays. He was set up with the best coach and best player of all time of course he's gonna get championships. Scottie's defense was all time great but still Jordan guarded the best player on the other team in the playoffs more than Scottie. Lol and for you to bring up LeBron in the clutch, like really? Scottie was horrible in the clutch, go do some research. Way worse than LeBron. So no get out of here with that B.S. stop overrating Scottie. There are many players in the 90's who are much better than him. He's not better than Barkley, Karl Malone, Drextler, Hakeem, Hardaway, Grant Hill, Dominque, Robinson, Mutumbo, Payton, Kemp, and agruably a couple more. His defense was amazing but its funny to see his rep flip-flop throughout the years. First he was underrated by everyone. Now he's overrated by everyone.

    Pippen should have @ least won one(D.P.Y.)in his prime he averaged 2.5 steals & 1.5 blocks a game, as well as taking charges, or the other teams best player & guarding any player from guard Mark Jackson to center Shaq or 1-5, Pippen never got his props!!!

    • @williamkoscielniak820
      @williamkoscielniak820 3 года назад +2

      He was the best I ever saw at taking charges, and the man must have had more deflections than any player in the league during his era. When he was at his best he could completely take over games on the defensive end. My favorite example is game 1 against the Pacers in the ECF. He scored a grand total of 4 points in that game, yet he completely took over in the 3rd quarter and throughout the 2nd half with his defense. He spearheaded the defense and Jordan scored the buckets. It was beautiful to watch and showed why MJ and Pip played so well together.
