    5-21-1991 - On route to their first trip to the NBA Finals the Chicago Bulls again face the Pistons, a hurdle which they were not yet able to overcome in the finals. But this year is a different story. The Bulls dominate despite the rough tactics of the Pistons. Michael Jordan finishes the game with 35 pts, 3 rebs, 7 asts.

      @@randycomendador2675Most people who say this simply never actually saw 80 and 90s ball. The things that were just considered "good, hard fouls" are things that would not only get players thrown out of the game, but suspended for the next game. Like the time Dennis Rodman threw Pippen head first into the stanchion, something that could have broke his neck. The fact that he wasn't thrown out of the game just shows how rough the game was back then.

    Now all you young folks that think all these great shooter's of today's game(Curry, Durant, James, Thompson, Lillard, Irving)could get their shots off playing against a defense like Detroit's where they can hand check you, pull on you, push you, bump you with no foul called at all, only after Pippen punched Rodman in the face and only got a technical foul, which he would have been thrown out of today's game! I still like the NBA of today don't get me wrong, but if I had to choose It would definitely be 80's- 90's because I love physical basketball or bangers!!!

      MVP awards are like the Oscars, the most deserving rarely ever win. It's all about politics. I don't look at MVP's as serious awards for that reason. The league ignored Jordan and focused on Magic and Bird because they were bringing in the most money at the time. When it looked like Jordan was becoming the face of the league, that's when they decided to give him MVP's. It's all politics.

      Joshua James - this was the year they won for the first time and before the championship, MJ and the Bulls had something to prove. No scoring title winner had won a championship income early days of Kareem 20 years earlier. The media questioned if a scorer like him could win it all and so he had the Bulls made sacrifices to win that first title. No drinking, no partying etc. They had also been physically beat up by this Championship Bad Boys team for the past two years in the ECF and they had something to prove. So winning the MVP was incredibly gratifying to a guy that had been incredible from his very first day but was on a terrible team early on - and he was desperate to prove that not only was e as great as Magic and Bird but that he was better - not only as an individual player but as a leader that could create a dynasty like they did - with significantly less help than they had. Definitely an emotional moment it was.

      His biggest asset along with his shooting was his ability to find a spot where MJ could always dish to him after breaking down the defense when drawing all the double and triple teams he faced. Paxson was such an awesome streaky shooter - in the '91 playoffs, he was monstrous shooting over 50% and making bucket after bucket in the last two games especially. He obviously made the big shot in the '93 Finals game 6. He had a much bigger impact on the team since he started than lets say Kerr in the second three-peat. But because of Kerr's success as a coach today and his high shooting percentage from point territory, many of today overrate him as some major piece in Chicago. Kerr was actually just a small role player in a backup role.

That's what I'm talking about the little things that don't excite people such as the 3-point shot or dunking which they(Bulls) did as well as anybody, but it was that defense and passing between Pippen and Jordan the set them apart from everybody. Shaq would later coin the term in describing them as"Batman & Robin" which he would used himself and Kobe as they won their 3 rings together~!

    Sad the bad boys/worst team ever. Are going down there constant fouls and dirty play is coming to it’s end..
    It’s Jordan’s era now. Welcome to beautiful basketball where u use skills not fouls and dirty players...

    • @ShawnThomas78
      @ShawnThomas78 5 лет назад +2

      Not dirty just within the rules at the time which allowed physical play. In, 1991 the NBA changed the rules and the Triangle Offense is what helped the Bulls finally beat a very good Detroit team that made 3 straight Finals and won back to back championships and OH they beat the Bulls in the playoffs 4 straight years too, not bad for a "worst" team as you put it.

    amazing what happened to the "bad boys" when flagrant fouls were actually penalized in the 90-91 season. Their whole "amazing defense" was obliterated. Laimbeer was reduced to nothing

  • @TRUMPKILLA

    Jordan was scoring champ and his team was more dangerous on defense than offense. Its crazy to think but he was more dangerous on defense than offense. That's what Kobe didn't have and what LeBron could never dream of.

      Lol, ya because Jordan averaging 37 pts a game for the season before the rule changes, wasn't indicative that those rule changes meant jack shit. Your argument is flawed! The Bulls as a team finally caught up to Jordan's greatness and the rest is history!!!
