Stargate IS the best sci fi franchise so far, especially the Stargate-SG-1series. It's on the recommended list for military recruits going into advanced technology! The existing series should never be removed from availability, especially HULU, Netflix and Amazon. The more accessibility the better, since it's the best and most popular sci fi series ever, which is why there obviously ought to be new seasons continued as well. It's just too good not to continue.

Stargate helped me through some dark times! From when I first saw the movie and then the series both SG1 and Atlantis I was enamoured by the acting and story telling . It was my Star wars my Star trek . This series meant a lot to me ! I hope they do it justice and dont ruin it with bad story telling for political statements . I remember watching the last episode and actually crying at the memories and that it was not only going but how I went on the amazing journey with them

Some of the best episodes in the show are the darker, edgier parts. What are you even talking about? You're so cringey. Stargate Universe, which was honestly filled with a lot of cringe, had some of the best episodes Stargate has ever seen.
Sadly with Amazon in the mix the new SG is is going Suck massive Elephant C*ck . They can not help themselves, ask the fans of Wheel in Time books now being vandalized by the Amazon series they a livid. Honestly I hope the series is still born I hated SGU and amazon going ramp up everything wrong with SGU to a 11.

Throughout the 2000's, Stargate was my bedtime story. It was like having a teddy bear every night giving me a small comfort. Sometimes I would nod off before the episode even ended. Some nights I would make it a twofer. I would listen to the audio commentary for the ep, not knowing that was quite the privilege. As most tv dvd sets have only handful of commentaries, Stargate had nearly every episode with audio commentary from season 4 on. with their dvd releases.
I'm in my early 50s and this, along with Babylon 5 are my 2 top everything TV related. Excellent writing, morals, convictions, and character development- unmatched, period.
Same here ,ate on all points. Got my kid and their friends hooked enough they are building a cosplay complete with shoulder flash and Airsoft P90s
I'm 39 from Russia, and B5 was the very special thing for us here, for me. My wife and mother-in-law too. ) Never watched SG but my friend is a big fan. What i fear for B5 is JMS is not the same as before. We all have seen what happend with recent films from Ridley Scott. And in case with B5 it's CW. I want to say that i fear that all this is about money.
Same with BSG. I've only seen 200x version and i like it. And the trying to reboot it again. I think of it as lack of ideas. No one want to risk and do something new. Only copy and reboot old series but with today's trends. Trends and fanservice.
SG tries too hard to be Star Trek. It lost the Egyptian ⛺ mystique of the original film 📽. BSG was only good for season 1 only. Ron Moore tries too hard too hard to mix religion with sci-fi and sprinkle them with insufferably draggy character development *cough *DS9 *cough

Problem is their age. Senior roles are all any of them can do now. I mean...a geriatric SG1?
Stargate helped me through some dark times too, I felt like I actually knew the characters and that they were my friends. I don't even know how many times I've watched the series over and over, from the movies, SG1, Atlantis, and SGU. Its been awhile now since I've seen it all, but I could still look at a random episode and know which one it is in about a minute. I also don't even know how to describe how happy I am about them coming back especially some of the same actors/characters, Its like old friends that helped you once and parted ways only to reunite once again.
I am reserving my excitement for an official notice. I really WANT to be excited, but I have been burned by things like this in the gaming industry before.
Not just gaming, if we can depend in Hollywood for anything, we can depend on them to let us down.
And the Stargate team already messed up on Universe, I'm not going to give them another chance.
I simply would have no interest in a reboot and hey better do a new next gen series. They have a great opportunity here.

The original characters will be dead by the time a new Stargate comes out. On the other hand, since Amazon bought it, it will be amusing watching the actors wearing diapers like regular Amazon employees! Hahaha hahahaha

A new Stargate series seems almost inevitable. What we need for a certainty is Brad Wright's continued association with the project and hopefully bringing back a lot of the original writers, producers, editors and directors who helped to make the franchise a success

I do believe I read some of the original crew will apart of the new series. If Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi are on board it is a good bet we will see some other original crew coming back. I hope, they did a good job. If amazon throws some money at it we may see sg as we have never seen it before. I would like to see Jennifer Hailey as a permanent cast member but not as sg1 team leader. She is a hot head. I think her character should be reintroduced from behind bars for striking a fellow officer and while warranted still a no-no. Or something like that. I like her character and she should get a permanent role just not as team leader. I would definitely like to see some back and forth between her and rodney.

Yes! Bring back another Stargate show from Brad Wright!!! I recently watched the entirety of SG-1 and Atlantis on Hulu, and was so disappointed when I'd watched both series. It's an excellent franchise and should continue into a new series. It's a plus that Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks are are interested as legacy characters.

I'm really excited for this to happen, and even more so if it's not a reboot or other such bullshit. I want more of the same stories, characters, and world of SG-1. I dont need a reboot every 10 years, just want more stories in the same universe, exploring new ideas and themes, like all great sci-fi does.
They have a fantastic IP why on earth would they want to do a reboot of such great material. What do they think they can somehow do it better this time and show us something not seen before?
If they do a reboot they will piss off a lot of the original fans of the show.

Stargate Series was probably one of the best future/present shows on Tv! It showed the best of what humanity can bring to the outer reaches of space!

I hope Dr. Rodney Mckay (David Hewlett) and his sister Jeannie Miller (Kate Hewlett) will come back. And the sister should play a bigger role in the new series.
They should also visit old places to visit persons like Jonas Quinn (Corin Nemec).
I also want to see Sgt. Walter Harriman (Gary Jones) again.

The thought of a new Stargate series put a big smile on my face .....can't wait!!!! Would be good to start with a continuation of the series Stargate Universe, seeing as how those folks are in 'suspended animation' for '5 years'....lol Stargate Atlantis was also a great series, as was the first series. Enjoyed them all!!
I almost religiously watch SG1 and SG Atlantis every few months so It's like it never stopped, but YES! we do need to see more! A HUGE part of my life ... from my birth to now.
When I was very young in Croatia we only had the option to watch in with germen over-voice and my dad is the only one who speaks german in the house, so he would watch the episode the day before us, and the day after we would watch and he would translate.

Would love to see a new series. SG1 and Atlantis were two of my favorite TV shows of all time. Wasn't impressed with SGU but hopefully a new series would be more like the first two.
Don't forget at the end of Atlantis the city ship was on earth so that would be interesting to see people find out about it and the SGC

It was too serious while, at the same time, featuring characters that immediately abandoned *all* of the virtues that were celebrated in the characters of SG1 and Atlantis. All of the hero characters were terrible people that no one should seek to emulate.

I have finished rewatching this not too long ago. Took me 2 months to watch it but I watched everything! Please do not let it sux. I love this series so much.
My take on the story, SGC headed by General Samantha Carter, who married retired General Brigadier Jack O’Neall - he is happy fishing and consulting with the SG Global HQ. At the SGC, head of archeological and cultural issues Dr Daniel Jackson, who finally married Vala Maldoran, Tauri liaison to the reformatted Lusian Alliance. At Area 51, Dr Rodney MacKay heads R&D for the SG Tauri intergalactic fleet, using the Asgard legacy, the team is headed by General John Shepherd, in charge of using the resources and advances gain with Atlantis landing on Earth. Mr Wolsey will keep working with the UN team to manage the politics in a world that had put their petty differences and issues to confront the danger looming over Earth form a powerful enemy which was unknown due to the colonial attitude of the Gouald. This enemy was not worried about the provincial fights of the Lords, but now that the Tauri show them to be powerful, they feel their power threatens. So, Earth must step out to its new position in the galaxy.
Or how about all that you stated but leave out the provincial fights and introduce a new exciting story.
How about a new enemy unseen or a new dimension that they discover through the stargates that takes them to a new place with a new and wonderful story. There are many possibilities if they are willing to go down that route.
They need to stay away from the Multiverse as a major story line or that could get very complicated.
I would love to watch a new SG show! I love all the 3 shows, dunno' how many times I watched them over and over again!

I’m happy to hear we’re getting closer to new SG. I do hope they don’t blow the load early and have nothing left to tell after season one. It’s understandable that one might get lost in full fan service, at the cost of a sustainable story. We’ve all been waiting such a long time, after all.
They do not need to do fan service they just need to do a new and interesting Stargate show that has the original cast in it.
They have so many possibilities to do such as a new enemy on the horizon, new stargate dimension that they discover and can travel to with the gates.
I just hope and prey it is not a reboot.
The Stargate becoming public knowledge just makes sense storywise. No way they could keep it a secret forever. That just doesn't seem plausible. The implications of that would make for a great storyline.

I start watching stargate with 9years..stargate was a big part of my childhood.. And it is a part in my life now as a music producer. I love science fiction so much.. My Bigget dream is... Stargate and the story about stargate atlantis came true😁 when I have heard some actors want to return.. I have tears in my eyes.. It's one of my biggest wishes... I want a series about the end of stargate atlantis.
Amazon will destroy it, it already destroyed LotR and it's not even out yet. I won't hold my breath.

As long as they remain true to the Stargate franchise as it was intended and built and don't turn it into a political hackjob, I am all for it. The last 20 years though and particularly the last 5 years have shown us what hollyweird and the media like to do to our favorite franchises and characters.
Sad thing is, Stargate was always a show that was already fairly diverse and pretty much "Diversity Done Right". I'm more worried that Amazon would fail to realise that and push woke politics even harder than necessary like Hollyweird usually does.

if the old cast returns i'd love to see the characters having had their lives move on and not be doing the same stuff they were. considering past seasons i don't think they'd do that. would be interesting to have it be about more than just one team saving the day everywhere. also looking forward to possible new ships and what happened to the rest of the galaxy. would be interesting to see non-gould having reverse engineered tech that's been around that were previously not understood.
If they rely on the old cast for base characters, the new cast will probably be terrible because of it. Its not a good way to do things.
@@styleisaweapon I think Mamoa can repraise his role and maybe make Flannigan the General (like hammond etc).Then maybe have david hewlett back as an on base scientist old grumpy guy.The sg team should be all new with if at all possible Mamoa in it.
I would love to see a stargate, set in the modern day (just like the old one was for its time)... but just continuing the plot. Humans from Earth becoming a major power, common people on earth seeing this happening... and the struggles that come with trying to expand faster than you can secure your borders.
I just really hope that if this happens, they keep all the old stories, and don't do any kind of reboot. Just keep the story going!

That's a good point that there isn't much Sci-Fi in the present day, at least not with intergalactic travel. Stargate is special in that way.
The day this becomes official I will cry so much. The fact that there's a likelihood of the old characters coming back just fills me with so much hope. I know it's fairly laughable to miss people from TV shows, but I never stopped missing the SG-1 and SGA crews... Stargate, Eureka and Warehouse 13 were shows that all had one thing in common, and that was an incredibly lovable cast. The shows were so cozy, and that's lacking these days. Everything is gloom and doom and dark and shitty... I miss the exploration and humor and personality of those shows so much.. Every sci fi show/movie these days sets out to either depict something incredibly oppressive or more it's more cerebral in nature.... Exhausting to watch, no one to love.
I hope Amazon also produces the long-waited 3rd season of Stargate Universe!

I'll bet Jason Momoa would come back for at least a cameo. He often talks about how Ronan Dex is still one of his favorite characters.
I'd like to see a continuation of the existing SG materials. Just years later, veteran characters now in leadership roles, new cast of characters being the sg teams. Roll all the lore of SG1 and SGA together and see where it would logically go. I like the idea of the stargate program becoming public as a theme of the show, that'd be interesting.
The idea that the stargates existence would be critical in that world because of the problems we have in this world though, that seems laughable. The timeline of the stargate series already divulges wildly from ours. I'd rather they went with an alternate history where in the last ten years or whatever, subtle improvements have improved the sg series universe to be unlike ours, a more optimistic one preferably.
I'd prefer this too, but the problem is that by the end of SG1, Earth is basically a powerhouse in the galaxy now that they are in possession of the combined tech and knowledge of Asgard.
@@seandlax9 Yeah, but there's still a lot of unsolved mysteries and unexplored space. Everything doesn't have to be an epic galaxy spanning conflict, there's plenty of room to tell stories about the characters, which has always been the strong point of the show. And even though earth does have an incredible knowledge base by the end of the series, it's got a minuscule industrial base. It takes like 2 years to build a battlecruiser or something like that? Even if the SGC had 20 BCs by this point, that's still a lot of space to cover.

Big Stargate fan here. I love it more than any Trek series. Please bring this franchise back to life. I wanna see Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, Rodney, Sheppard, Val, and Mitchell in one big series. Forget about Ronon, they can leave his character out.

Never in the history of Star Trek was there ever a Girl Power scene. A Girl Power scene isnt one where women merely do great things, but one where also the conversation between the characters acknowledges how awesome woman are and how great this Girl Power moment is, because apparently the audience is too stupid to recognize a girl power moment without being told, and too bigoted to know its also a good moment, without being told.

We need a new series continuing on the current canon with a few of the old faces as Stars/regulars and some more as guest stars. Public awareness of the Stargate program with a big part of the show being about how humanity changes as new tech is introduced (as we now have virtually unlimited clean power, healing tech, beaming tech etc) SGC trying to guide humanity towards a Tolan-esque future v reckless humans creating a galactic wild west would also be interesting.
No public awareness. Keep the show on its current secret Stargate program. If they open up the story were earth all of a sudden has the Stargate as public information it will really ruin the story.
What made SG1 so good was that the story was based on our current time lines and not some fantastical future earth.
I am currently 31. Watched the movie and started SG1 immediately after with my roommate. It's now our nightly routine to watch an episode or two. Hooked. We are almost to season 3. I hate it's leaving the streaming services. I hope we can buy the seasons on disc or something

Stargate: Universe. I want to see a movie or the next season to see what will happen to Destiny when they reach the other galaxy.
A good IP is one that has/is/will make money, if it's used well. At the moment it's a pointles to not to have some "new" stargate going out on TV. If thay want to make it realy more intresting each episode could follow a diferent member of a few diferent teams each week with lots of team members crossing paths all thrue the season and then later the SGC team members needing to work togeather off world to "save the day". the only reason not to do that is a larger suporting cast.
Exactly though they're just not going to do anything until the deal and/or pandemic is settled.
The interlinked narrative going pretty much everywhere any previous series went makes all the sense in the world. SGU's fatal flaw was trying to simultaneously change up tone and style while only giving SGU a tiny fraction of the fulltime overlap that SGA gained fan engagement from. SGA had more full time characters previously established in SG1 from _day one_ then SGU got in two years of _guest spots._ Heck, the first half of the SGA pilot had more SG1 characters then a dozen actual SG1 episodes ever got. There would've been far less hate for Universe if several of the characters were filtered through the other series as supporting characters moving through the shared narrative universe exactly the way this sounds.
Oh i would say the probability is very high that if it happens at the moment, the brand will be ruined by pushing woke narrative at the forefront, not good story telling or well written characters.

Meaning nearly all of it on "their side" was her suckup sociopaths and her using actual company influencers to shape her narrative. For this to work, it needs to bring back the old cast, and it needs to be similar to the monster-of-the-week SG-1 and Atlantis, not the ‘every episode is connected’ direction that Universe went with. The reason SG-1 and Atlantis worked and Universe didn’t was because Universe was too dark and serious, and you couldn’t just jump into it without first watching all the previous episodes; you can watch any episode of SG-1 or Atlantis and enjoy it, you can’t do the same with Universe. It’s the same reason why a lot of people don’t like Star Trek: Discovery.
Universe worked really well. I'm saddened that so many disliked it. It was my favorite of the three precisely because each episode connected to each other, that type of continuity makes me far more vested into the show. The reason it was cancelled was low TV viewership (but high online viewership which would be expected from people interested in sci-fi in 2010).
Actually all stargates had story arcs that carried over multiple seasons or at least episodes.

I would say the main reason why a lot of people don't like Star Trek: Discovery is the atrocious writing. I recently finished a rewatch of DS9 and the quality of storytelling and characterization there is simply on another level compared to Discovery (and to a slightly lesser extent Picard). I don't think it has much to do with arc based storytelling, which DS9 and Enterprise did, too. Just that the arcs in those two shows are a lot better structured and alternate between calmer and slower 'slice-of-life' episodes and more suspenseful 'action' episodes. An alternation of rising tension, climax, release of tension. Like a well-structured concert. While Discovery is a modern show in the sense that it's 10-12 episodes of condensed action and dialogue that simply overloads the viewer with constant climax, hurried expositional dialogue, bipolar switching between aggressiveness and crying. Saru is the only regular character in the show who acts like a normal, sane person. This is simply tiring the viewer. I, for one, have absolutely no problem with Netflix having given up Discovery from season 4 on. I won't even pirate season 4. I completely lost interest after that complete waste of promise that season 3 was.
You are so right way to dark. I have the whole Stargate and Stargate Atlantis DVD sets. I watched a couple of Universe episodes and said well this sucks.
Honestly they could have saved stargate with the 3rd one if they had went a different direction with universe. The first 2 were about exploration and hope. the excitement of choosing to go forward. were as universe was more about the helpless feeling of having no control over your choices. Universe was basically we accidently got stuck on this ship and we can't choose where to stop, the ship decides everything for us and we do what we can with what we get. where as sg1 and atlantis were we boldly step forward in to a new place to learn and discover.
I loved Universe, it was darker, perhaps more chaotic and hopeful in the first season, but in the second one? With the discovery of the signal embedded within the CMB? That's a gripping mystery, the ultimate mystery. Not dragged along by the shop, but shepherded along to the last grand question.
Universe was the best damn one IMO
@@KineticSymphony Darker is what killed it. SG1 and Atlantis dealt with some pretty dark themes, but also had this pluckiness about them that just made them work. They somehow lost that with Universe.

Obviously, the old team should be back in some capacity allowing for their age but also include the Atlantis team since Atlantis made it back to Earth in the last episode of SGA. If done right by the right people this new series, if it happens, has so much potential.
IF 'they' went thru the process of purchasing the 'rights' to this franchise then you would assume that 'they' would do 'it' right. Spending as much money as the 'process' would take and then losing it on 'wokeness' doesn't make any sense.

I’ve been a Stargate fan all my life… but I honestly do not think that Amazon is going to greenlight the show. The expanse is ending with the possibility of one off movies closing off the story from the books. Also the only other show I can see that has similar loose feel, is The Orville. It’s probably not getting another season after the next one. I think the style of the show is not popular anymore and would have to change. But when I think about what they might do, I fear whatever they come up with will probably have a “Star Trek: Discovery” feel if they come up with anything. We as fans very much want the old style but any new show has to be broadly appealing. They tried that with Universe, and look what happened. Don’t misunderstand me, I very much want a new series that does everything very well, lasts 7+ seasons and generates multiple spin-offs… but right now I can’t see it.
The expanse is 6 seasons and has reached its conclusion and they cannot do another full season. Orville is a comedy and cannot be compared. Amazon did not spend $8.5 billion on MGM not to use its IP that is limited.
They are most certainly going to make a Stargate series for Amazon at some point.
@@bighands69 I think they will, but we won’t recognize it. I say there’s a pretty good chance they’ll reboot the franchise instead of making something with the old cast. This is just me being pessimistic but the state of sci-fi is much different now. Them keeping all the things we love like the campiness and the more sarcastic nature of the show is harder for me to visualize. Especially when they tried that with Origins and it wasn’t super well received despite all its other failings.
A good reason for a reboot is simply because of the state of the show. The best villains are all dead, humanity has ultra advanced tech that outmatch anything else in the galaxy and the world has to find out which would complicate the plot. It would be simpler to return to the original formula and redo it all with a bigger budget and better special effects, at least from a corporate standpoint.
The comparison to the Orville is pretty apt though. It’s a sci-fi that honours the setting well, has good plots and characters but doesn’t take itself so seriously. It’s billed as a comedy, but it’s nothing like say, lower decks where things are constantly played for laughs.

Most of the enemies being dead is just part of the backstory that they can tap into. They can create new enemies if they so desire.
They could easily create a whole interesting story if they so desire or a new type of goa'uld if they so desire or something entirely new.
Just throwing this out there but how about a new dimension that is accessed through the stargate network that is somehow discovered and a whole new set of enemies are discovered or something else happens and leads to that place.
They have potentially thousands of ideas they could go with that would stick to the DNA of the original show without rehashing it.
They could have the old cast for legacy and they could all be in senior positions that helps the story.
@@bighands69 I’m not saying that any of that isn’t possible, I’m saying it’s not probable with the same feel as SG-1. I’m saying that if they don’t bring back the same feel as SG-1/Atlantis, and go for a more gritty SG:U or “modern mainstream sci-fi” approach, then I can see why they might just reinvent the series. Or worse, remake the movie to try and reboot the series with that. I could be wrong, for sure I could be. But anything is possible now that Amazon is in charge, and I don’t think we should be caught off guard if a new series isn’t what we expect it to be.
And please don’t misunderstand me. When I say that Amazon won’t green light the show, I mean Brad Wright’s vision of what it should be. Not the franchise entirely. I also would say that if they don’t intend to go with Brad Wright’s vision because of the state of their other IP’s, we shouldn’t expect anything with the name stargate attached to it for a good long time.
Stargate Universe was the best of all the series IMO. I'd love to see that come back!

you hit it on the nail. the very reason why Stargate is my favorite out of the "star" sci-fi show is because it depicts humans discovering space with what we have right now (well back then). imagine all the stuff we can do with even better technology now

I think they should do a cross over episode with James Spader as an old Dr Daniel Jackson rescuing Scott Bakula as Dr Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap. So we can do a complete 90's time travel feedback loop. Will there ever be original new content?

I'd like to see a new Stargate series, but I want one that continues in the existing universe, not a reboot. I also want them to devote at least one episode to resolving the cliffhanger at the end of Stargate Universe. And while I'm at it, make a show that FEELS like Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and not like the Battlestar Galactica reboot. You know, make it feel like the shows that were actually really popular with fans, rather than the one show that flopped because it was so different and downbeat.
Wouldn't mind something from the Galactica community either...
