Without question Cab was the all around greatest entertainer who ever lived!
Agreed! And there are many great,
but Cabell Calloway III is King
I was lucky enough to have seen him with my dad in SF on NYE in the mid 70s wearing his white tails. If you get a chance be sure to read his autobiography, you'll love him even more...
Do you have anything on video of it
Pound for pound one of the best entertainers of the last century who made it look effortless and fun decade after decade. It's one thing to be singing a hit in 1931 but to deliver that track with the same vigor and joy in 1965 all the way to the early 1990s? There's only one Cab Calloway and thank heavens we had him.

@@WM_NonsenseThanks!
"I’m Crazy Bout My Baby" is actually entitled Caldonia
For a entertainer like Cab Calloway who had been in the business for as long as he was he deserved a standing ovation, I cant believe they sat on there asses.
His talent for storytelling and bringing the lyrics to life is unique and MASTERFUL.
Amazingly Charismatic....Great sense of humor as well....
CAB WAS GREAT AND WONDERFULL.. ONE AND ONLY COOL AND TALENTED..
I know, i'm repeating myself: what a performer that was. OMG.
What a time to be alive we just don't have talent like this anymore
The music industry should find them and produce them. They surely are somewhere

Not only was he incredibly talented, he had charisma!
LLP
He is the definition itself of charisma!
Waaaay ahead of his time
The man was a hell of an entertainer. So much fun to watch, love the crowd reactions.
I think they were somehow, a bit tame...sadly.
@@killerdillr This was 1965 - another era entirely. Look at Top of the Pops' much younger audience and how comically inert it was at this time. But give them credit - once the Swedes warmed up they made a good fist of those calls on Minnie the Moocher.
The original cat who go back all the way from the 1930s, he was really original in his trade, the innovator. His legacy will go on
SENSATIONAL!
The original “Front Man”. That says it all folks, he really was.
Wow.. just wow.. one more time.. Wow..
this version of Old Man River goes hard man

Absolutely fantastic. Thank you Albert Ahlf for this.
Can anyone say whether the orchestra members were Cab's men from the States or were they local Swedish musicians?
Where's he going? I want an encore. I've got to catch a Cab.
...на 8:31 закончилась знаменитейшая Beatles'ская *"Can't Buy me love"* !!

"to tell all the chillin the devil's a villain, it ain't necessarily so.."
"He made his home in/That fish's abdomen..." - takes some kinda prize for a most outrageous rhyme!
Somehow I am saddened to watch this. Cab ended up performing in smaller clubs in the 50s and 60s and his before so energetic jazz music became Las Vegas entertaining a white audience. His voice and persona is still intact here. His dance steps on Jumpin´Jive - The Shim Sham Shimmy thoroughly enjoyable, however watching all these audience clapping out of tune on 1 and 3 - sigh...!!
I saw him in Denmark back in 1985 with his daughter. I do not recall how many attended but indeed not over crowded. Most people knew him from Blues Brothers.
I think his version of Cant Buy Me Love here does it, and funnily enough Ella Fitzgerald recorded that one as well.
Despite my lukeward reception of this - I loved every bit of CAB indeed. Thank you.
I think I get what you’re saying. Cab was a living incredible treasure, right until he passed he was a direct link to a very deep past. In a way he became a historical relic. Gotta remember he was there when the music was invented for goodness sake. And as you said he ended up performing small clubs. Sad for sure. Many of the original great jazz heroes ended up much worse off and more forgotten than Cab. Think Lucky Thompson, Albert Ayler, many etc.
@@jackdolphy8965 I was so happy when the BLues Brothers got him back in the full limelight!!
im not saddend by this. Most entertainers from that era didnt even last that long hes being a living ledged in this clip... I dont see the has been or sad story you see
@@jackdolphy8965 this isnt a small club this person clearly didnt watch this video thi is a televised performance nothing sad about this performance
@Per Rock you sure you don,t get the year wrong ?? 87 he came to Pori, Northsea etc w C. Calloway. Met him, not just saw, got autogr to my name on his Coral lp BLUES MAKES ME HAPPY. He came again to Pori in 89, Molde prob also, Skeppsholmen not sure.
Anyone wanna guess the suit color? I'm going with purple 😂
I've never wanted footage to be in color more than this. For exactly this reason. (Also green is my guess, but it's Calloway, it could be literally anything.)
Grandioso!
showman 😊👍
Amazing - I wish I could move like that! The man had styyyyyyle!! (And didn't the audience do well in Minnie the Moocher?)
woulda made a great actor too
Bunch of stiffs listening to one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
