Me who ordered a Japanese/PlayAsia version because the North American version was going for monthly-rent-money's worth... It still was $20 over the Retail ($95) because of overseas shipping costs.
@@DChap Not at all. Switch cartridges aren't Region-Locked. But, given whay this video is, if you live in the Americas/PAL, you might want to just save for that to get it much cheaper.
I hadn't realised that the original run of physical copies was limited so was horrified when I tried to buy it recently and saw the prices. Will defo be getting the anniversary edition.
It doesn't matter what game is being remastered, there's always something wrong. Whether it's missing content, as in this case, or missing dialogue, inferior audio, cropped picture, botched controls, problems with the framerate, errors which haven't been rectified or anything else you can imagine. Nobody seems capable of making a completely definitive version of any remastered game
I've got all of these on Steam, but at this point, I'm willing to throw down for a physical copy of this new print run just to continue proving to SE how much folks want classic FF.
A physical version hasn't been announced here in Japan which is weird, as many games that get raped by limited run in the west get a normal physical release here for example king of fighters 13 or the recently announced snk vs capcom chaos.
1:20 If the anime _Lucky Star_ is any indication, I'm sure there are folks in Japan who bought 3 copies: 1 for display, 1 as a "mint condition" collector's item, 1 "just in case". I was never a huge fan of how Japan did "collector's edition" type stuff, because it's always super exclusive. Either you preorder at some place like Yodobashi or maybe nowadays DMM (and pay a hefty premium), or you get it by entering your name in a contest within a 2-week time frame or something. I think that's why many publishers, SE included, deliberately release with an artificial shortage, and there have been conversations going on in Japanese news about this kind of scalping. If they're doing an exact reprint, that means they learned the lesson of Magic: The Gathering. Since there are differences, they decided to segregate the lucky ones who got the first edition and everyone else who gets the reprints. Also, _grumbles as a DS FF4 fan who misses the 3D version content and updates that aren't in the remaster..._
Its great that they're getting a reprint, but why are they so expensive? I know its 6 games, but they're just remasters. $75 is way too much to ask for, and square knows it. They know they can get away with it too, which is bs.
So I wanted to get the pixel remaster for my switch to play but when the first wave came out I missed it. Now I can buy them (where I live we don't have eshop gift cards in store).
I'd love to see the new features added but with how much of an uphill battle it was to even get text that doesn't look awful, feel like there's no chance we get those updates.
Thanks for breaking it down. I'm pre ordering it now and hoping the added gba elements are in the Anniversary Edition, if not it's not the end of the world I'll still be happy.
won’t the first editions get updated to the newer version by a free update? if not i feel bad for those that bought the more expensive first release.i was gonna wait till the second release went down in price but darn’t risk it incase it sells out again but i did get lucky with a 15% off offer on ebay.Should arrive tomorrow 😊
I'm stoked! When I tried to order it the first time around, so many people ordered at the same time that it broke the system, and I wasn't able to nab them. There were many times early on where I almost pulled the trigger on the cheapest eBay scalper listing, but now I am thanking the 12 that I didn't!
I still got my old PS1 copys of Origins,Anthology 6,7,8,9. I cheerish them but would be cool to get this set to have the complete lot in row with ff3 in the list.
I had hopes to pick up a copy and when I looked at eBay, I nearly fell off my chair as to those prices. Just for a physical copy for PS4? F--k off scalpers. Then I saw they were re-releasing it in Oct as you've mentioned, I will be willing to pay $100CAD from Walmart. LOL
I don't so much mind the anniversary edition branding, but I did and still do think it's dumb to remove the logo that was present at the top of the first run. It was a nice touch and kind of a major point when it comes to this compilation, am I wrong? Lol
@@veghesther3204 It costs that much because it isn't being sold to you. It is being sold to someone who is a serious collector and has to have it. And it is priced appropriately to them. If you just want to play the games then they will be reprinted at a reasonable price. And if you can't get that, then the internet has every single one of them for free. But I would only do that if you can't get it legit or you've already bought them and don't want to buy them again.
I picked up the playasia switch version and would pass on this, except for the caveat of the “in game tweaks.” I’m a preservationist, and if this version is the fully-patched version on the cartridge I will pick it up just to have it all complete and playable (even years from now when downloading the patch is no longer an option).
All I want is to play the first 5 FF games and have the opportunity to finally finish FF VI. I have tried twice in the last 20 years or so but never managed to complete it. So far it's my favorite one ❤
I ordered this game through play-asia. Incidentally, there's a sale going on there where the price is $50 instead of $80. But I wouldn't be holding my breath that they add the extra stuff from ports into this remaster. I'd like it if they put a patch up for those that bought the first print runs as well, but this is Square Enix we're talking about. They "listened" in giving this game another chance but what are the chances they'll just botch the second print run too?
Eff scalpers. I already have the Play Asia copy for Switch, but I figured I may as well get this updated release for the Playstation. The updates are probably very minor like more text options, but here's to hoping for more!
Im glad that people who want it can get it but honestly for me only ff6 is worth having and even then almost $20 per game is just not worh it. It would be nice if they added the additional content but i doubt they will put more work into it when it will sell no matter what.
The US version ran out from the intial run so I purchased the asian version. Preordered the anniversary version. Hopefully they add the gba/3ds stuff. I loved the ff4 3ds versions
Yeah they're not going to add the GBA extra content. The physical edition already went gold and they're not going to change anything at this point. I'm just happy they're doing a reprint.
Considering games sell like 75% digitally nowadays, this won't be nearly as big a deal as you think it will. To quote a joke i have made before: "this will sell dozens of copies for sure"
yeah, all the content creators saying stuff like how Square was leaving so much money on the table, are they stupid, this is why they took such a financial hit, etc. are seriously delusional. Way less people care about this then they would think.
I just wanted the games I don’t care if it says anniversary on the box. I’ve seen dudes trying to sell it for 2700 on eBay and other vendors and I have this pre ordered for 75 bucks. I even own the switch version that doesn’t say anniversary so meh 🤷🏻♂️
Here's the thing about his F scalpers comment. He straight up said he would sell it for a rainy day emergency fund twice, so he's willing to sell it at bloated prices so long as it's helping him? But still F scalpers? Is he promising to sell it on eBay for the MSRP if he needs the cash?
If it's not that big of a deal why are you going to sell the copy you already own just to buy another copy when you already have it and all you want to do is play the game
That too but even then I would still never play FF2 and FF3 only had the Iron Giant boss which isnt' even fought in a FULL Length dungeon on the PSP/DS remake.

Did you run into any issues installing patches on the Asia version? Was thinking about getting the PlayAsia Switch cart.

I forget what it's called but i played a version of final fantasy 4 with voice acting and absolutely LOVED it. Wish they updated that version.
That's the DS/mobile/Steam version
Really wish the preorder bonus was better. Stickers is just kind of lazy for a preorder bonus in my opinion

But the cost of the games NOT worth it and the GREEDY Ebay sellers still want MORE for all 6 games then the $500 COST of a PS5 which is NOT worth it.
Relax dude
They aren't being greedy, they raised the price to meet demand this is how prices work. Otherwise you're greedy if you don't give it away for free.
Just buy the Asia version. Looks better without the age rating anyways.
But some of the Ebay sellers want OVER $2000 FOR All 6 GAMES that's still like 5 TIMES the Cost of a PS5 which still isn't worth it.
