so cool! i fish a trout club in nc and sc and was able to catch some on a whopper plopper 60. Having a 8lb rainbow hit a topwater is simply insane. great video!
Hi from France. Here the season of fishing trout is close and it's a good period for watching some RUclips videos. Nice videos, nice fish... But I'm surprise by your equipment... So basically... 2 spoons, one jerkbait, 2 or 3 soft bait...you never need to spin the lures, to find what works? The Elite of Rapala it's a good one...but if you can try the solid rap, it swims better in strong currents and descends deeper. And given the currents you fish, I also advise you : Smith : D-incite, D-contact, D-s line, Ar-s DUO: Ruyki and Rozante Megabass vision 110... And given the size of the fish... don't hesitate to increase the size of the lures, this selects the size of the fish... Good luck man, and if you want other lure references, it will be with pleasure.
All the way from France!! That’s cool! I appreciate you checking out the video. I’ve kind of just found the lures that work for me in our waters so I stick to my confidence lures most of the time. However, I appreciate the recommendations! I’ll be sure to check those out. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@fishkrazed Believe me, these lures are world references, in any case from Japan to Europe where there are fewer and fewer trout for many fishermen...in fact when I watch your video with your lures favorites, I see a mepps aglia...spoon from a French brand from 1936...and a contemporary version of a rapala, a Finnish brand whose original dates from the same period... Proof that a trout remains a trout doesn't matter where it is.... But Japanese brands like Smith, duo, jackal, forest, ito craft have really pushed the concepts... not to mention all the European brands. I have the impression that apart from Lucky Craft and Megabass the Japanese brands are not distributed in the USA... You would be surprised by the quality of the lures... But not the hooks... We must not exaggerate they are not perfect...
Maaaaan your giving up all the secrets. Man if I did this in my area and the masses find out....... Well. You know the outcome. Glad you don't have the competition where you are..... At least for now 😂
I love it man. I’ve used diawa tatula LT, and Diawa Kage for years. This shimano reel feels smoother right out of the box, and even after months of fishing it with no cleaning or maintenance. Drag is super smooth, so far no complaints. We’ll just have to see how it holds up longevity wise!
@@fishkrazed I was hoping that was your experience. I have been using Shimano Stradic CI4’s and Vanfords for years. I have had very little trouble and I use the heck out of my rods and reels. I don’t abuse them but it’s not an easy life for them. I’m also obsessed with brown trout, jerk baits, and using marabou jigs. I gave up on all other reel brands for my serious fishing.
@@huntzz21 that sounds about like me. I definitely don’t abuse my stuff but they get 8-10 miles of wading per trip. 😂 That’s good news though! Hoping these last a little longer than the diawa.
I'm not the slightest bit surprised you did well on those baits man, big fish eat big baits!
Starting to think the same! I used to only trout fish with small lures, but I think I’m going to start expanding!

Now this is something I’m interested in.. I think a whopper plopper 60 would hammer bigger brown / rainbow trout!
@@fishkrazed it does! give it a try!

For now is the concern 😂😂
Now that you have had that Shimano Vanford for a while, what are your thoughts on it compared to Daiwa, or any other brand for that matter?
