- Benny might have wasted his money on a trailer that's too small... how will he save it and maximise space? Is he a Tetris king or prisoner?
Here is how he built a sliding drawer that just might save the day.

Gian has been a great addition to your channel. You guys have a great rapport with each other and its genuinely funny and entertaining. I love your content guys and keep it up.
Gian has been there since day one
@@rolly4x4i think op is more refering to the fact that he has a bigger role then just holding the camera lately, which is a wonderful addition
@@toddmccarter45 I'm glad we established the "W" in whole saw is silent.
love the chit chatter with camera space ship guy
A pull out awning over the door will keep the weather off your stuff while the tray is out.
Comments on HammerBarn, proceeds to use Ozito drop saw 😂
The clamps were craftworks. 😂
Hahah was going to comment the same thing
I thought the same thing too 😂
Are those house brands?
@@toddmccarter45 yes Ozito is an exclusive Bunnings brand of tools (Hammerbarn is a nickname for Bunnings). I believe the Craftright tools are too, which is what @paule4202 was probably referring too rather than Craftworks.
Love them wholesore chats
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
Yup, perennial problem with estimating timing on engineering projects.
This video is a hole lot of work 😂
Benny, slidin' them Drawers
35:19 In keeping with space theme I feel Benny humor would be to wrap trailer in ARSE livery.
Finally some Bennys custom works instead of Bennys racecar maintenance. 😂 although both very entertaining
Motorcycle disc's & Callipers might be an option.
It's a sash clamp because it's designed to be used to clamp together the frames of sash windows. It just so happens that you can clamp together a bunch of other things with them too.
Gian’s Whole Sore. Great episode
Another Great Episode. Love the Banter.
Great work and plans, love the drag drive trailers.
Chit chat with Gian FTW
Hammer time landed
The things to replace the bolts for the drop down legs are called clamping lever with external thread. You can disengage them to position the lever. If your brake plan doesn't work out, I for Williams sell hubs with drum brakes which probably fit that axle as a bolt on part. Great video, really enjoy this sort of stuff!
28:00 well I'm glad that whole thing is finally sorted..
Nice one bois.
A whole saw the drills a part of a hole……. You guys crack me up, proper double act. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 You need to keep this going as a running gag for a few weeks, not weaks 😉
The tripod is Italian so it’ll be metric
Dig watching trailers
Mini drum brakes could be good enough for the trailor - opens up a lot of choices for wheels and tyres - but probably too wide. Also, GSXR 750 motorbike rear disc brake could be a good shout too. Such a cool project, keen to see how it all 'unfolds'.
Wholesome episode, managed to watch the whole hole section without getting a sore head 😆Did I miss the bit where you used the circular saw to cut the draw bed?
Eleventy out of ten would agree - you two have the best shed banter on the interwebs.
Looking forwards to the next one fellas!
I reckon I watch this channel.
That's a very fun side project, love a good bit of metalshop !
Great work
Cool if you could hinge the roof with gas struts, then you could definitely maximize roof space storage with easy access
19:25 unequal angle is definitely a thing. Not as common as equal angle, but very useful for certain jobs. Or just trim down your 75x6EA.
The hole in the cut does work very well and reduces burning
You can get bolts with knobs on the end at Hammerbarn.
Get the trailer fully loaded up weight wise, then position the mud guards and get the slammed look.
Love the ‘I don’t like to support hammer barn’ comment followed immediately by the hammer barn drop saw.
Make a barn door then support-stays or a half door big enough to let you get your shoulders in
Great video Benny and Gian!
35:19 As soon as Gian said space ship livery, all I could see was the trailer wrapped to look like the NASA shuttle. The shape of the guards even works then. And the colours would match the Cresta
Also, add some flat bar on edge running down the sides of the drawer. Keeps things on the drawer and put holes (wholes?) every 6" for tie down points
i watched a lot of American Drag week / Sick week prep videos ... NGL i found their trailer builds the most interesting part ( mainly because i have build a fair few drag or drift cars .. but never had to build a trailer to support them )
I think I already saw a comment about wing bolts but can't find it now.
Speaking of holesaws, crazy how there's a drill for making steps (not used in this episode)
Just to let you know the slide comes apart so you can attach it to your tray.
The trailer came out really nice, great banter! What’s a whole sar? 😂
The "headboard" that you deleted....perhaps you could add the to the back, stabilizing legs as you have done, piano hinge to join it...basically a tailgate, a work platform, somewhere to bolt a vice onto. It low but its a flat space to work?
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but you can by a bolt with a knob on it to tighten with your hand from Bunnings for a couple of bucks 👍
Fun fact. I used to do the quality control for Ifor Williams, until I sent a trailer to Australia with the axle on backwards.
Hopefully it wasn’t this one :D
@@BennysCustomWorks Nah it was a g series twin axle, you can tell if its correct as theres a spot weld on the axle that should face the front.
Should have been fine that way for southern hemisphere
@@DuncanHandleyNah, a back-to-front setup on one axle would only work for anti-clockwise road trips around Australia. Upside down setup for spaceship trailers down under unless they actually go to space which is just silly.
Thumbscrews. Pretty sure the Manfrotto tripod uses metric....Except for the 1/4-20 mount for the camera/device. Love the banter!
Agree with your sentiments on hammerbarn
what is hammerbarn?
Good ol’ glider fuel 😂
Those little wheel spat/fairing things look like there is *just* enough room under them to fit a 12v drycell battery on one side and an air compressor on the other...
put a vice on it ...
Now curious which American company is dodging shade haha
Benny, consider a small motorcycle disc. Great breaking efficiency, thin and small callipers?
I'm surprised "Storeman Phil" was not on the job helping. Being as though "No one touches/loads the trailer but Phil"
he prolly meant pocket holes like for cabinet hinges 😂
Benny a set of nissan 910 bluebird front discs and calipers are small the discs are like 12mm thick they most likely will do the job cheers from broken hill
Thanks mate, I have n13 pulsar rear discs atm thatI’m trying to work with
glad he knows how to use a camera
Using an Ozito metal cut off saw most likely purchased from Hammer Barn
You could put the tool box onto a fridge slide
Now it just needs a solar panel on the roof, and a battery or 2 so you can put in some work lights and a small compressor/air tank.
For transport can you flip the wheels to get a better offset to fit in the ram tub?
They’re zero offset :D
I did look at that
Never thought about making a slide out to simplify getting to things, i was going to build a trailer that the roof raised about 3’ with 3 of the sides will lift off….slide out floor will be lighter and more simple. Just cant if its a whole floor or a hole floor😂😂
75x50x6 unequal angle is available.
It's Holley, isn't it?
I would have said MSD
@@theSam91 it's a Holley brand.
@@justion337 Never knew that, makes a lot of sense
Getting Donny and Clarence show vibes 🤣
Every time I hear that animal, whatever it is, my first thought is that it's just Marty and Moog talking shit outside.
Space guards may just need a flame job. Did that to my plastic Ozito lawnmover and it's way faster now. I bet they were designed by a retired British aircraft engineer and save 5p per mile in fuel so should do it just to offend him. 👍
Benny you mite be able to put some batteries in the space guards solar panel on roof for light at night and inverter to change camera batteries
The cresta has 4 usb ports to run/ charge camera batteries on the go
30:00 in bunnings have knobs, got a vise to bolt on platform?
Isle 11 at Mittagong Bunnings for the "Richmond Hand Bolt" (tripod style bolt). You can also get abit of angle and rivet it to the open tabs and you can just push down on it and slide the draws out 👍
Gian has a whole in his head. Or his head isn't hole. One of the two. 🤣
What size are those trailer wheels? 12" tyres are getting really hard to find now. 13's are better but still not common. The chance of finding spares when you are out of the city might be a consideration.
They’re 10’s but yes that is a consideration
👌
If you put a drawer hanging from the top and the fuel cans under the tubs hanging from the top.
It's like digging half a hole....
When them wholesaws clog up put it in reverse and it cleans the teeth 👍🏻
@28:32 & The rest before that, fricken ADHD Things ha ha, some words are weird looking or sounding in different contexts. Even more so currently. Enjoyable video, cheers.
As long as you don't have a sore hole
Black tubs as universal unit of measurement neither metric or imperial...
wholely hole whole lol
Have you got anything in place for when stuff slides side to side and stops the draw coming out?
There are eyelets ( now) that we’ll use to strap items
@@BennysCustomWorks future Benny will be happy with that.
Lot off room on the roof of the trailer that could be used
Racks are coming, I’m getting some plates laser cut
Those torsen axles on the trailer are absolute garbage! Upgrade to leaves and add brakes then.
nah, these torsion axles are exceedingly reliable if you keep it within its rated weight. Adding heavy and bulky suspension components just cuts into the cargo capacity.
Increasing the GVW above 750 kg requires a ton of paperwork and basically replacing every part of the trailer along with the axle so you're building a trailer from scratch at that point, plus the bureaucracy to make it road legal.
If it takes 1 hour to dig a hole .
How long does it take to dig half a hole ??
I've just realised how to stop looking weird talking to myself in the shed (like @11:50) - I'll just stick a camera somewhere nearby, tell everyone I'm a youtuber :p
It’s done me wonders :D
Add a fold out leg underneath to support the weight on full extension for longer periods.
In addition to the two drop down legs on the slide and the ones on the trailer?
@UKMechanic I could also be blind 😆
@Gouldinator1 .... did you even watch the video ??
Thumb screw. 👍
motor cycle calipers
While doing trailer mods, I can't believe it doesn't have a rear diffuser on it. Would save 21 litres per hundred km easily.
Winning stupid comment of the day yet? 😂
It's a whole sore.
Nah, trailer doesn't need brakes.
Moist
Indeed
Just gian live under a rock?
Why do you have to remove the flag?
The American aftermarket parts that don’t fit is because the cars they are made for are crap
I reckon Elon would love to watch this hole video
Oh! Lets begin.
Mishimoto
Chase bays
Sikky
to name a few garbage peddlers. Ive never owned a bit but i sure have laughed at some terrible crap in my friends cars.
Some chasebays stuff is alright but rather get something Australian
please get a new camera man, he hurts my brain.
Gian grew up wanting to DJ in L.A but the trust fund couldn't do it. JK but whole-saw, half-saw dude?
