@@reduceparticles876Yeah, I’ve heard it’s built on the PMOK engine, so it’s a full coding remake, so this is indeed a “new” game in terms of programming

I’m willing to bet that the 10 on 1 jabbi fight isn’t a true softlock, you just have to be incredibly skilled to hit every one of the jabbies with flurrie before puniper is knocked out-and keep them down while he fights them. Great video!
I don't know if it's possible to do this in the remake, but I swear in the original it was possible to defeat the 10-Jabbi squadron with just Punio. When I was a kid I didn't understand that you had to blow the Punis across the bubble pool thing. So they'd all get left behind in that room. I'd keep trying to progress by fighting the Jabbis. I managed to get past the 10 Jabbis with only Punio, (I forget how many tries it took, but it probably took many tries) but of course the 100-Jabbi squadron was impossible with only Punio.
I was unaware of this glitch until after I finished Chapter 2 when I saw a video of someone on X/Twitter accidentally using Koops to pick up the Blue Key. I know speedrunners will be happy discovering this.
After completing the chapter and going back to Rogueport, I returned to the Great Boggly Tree et tried opening the chest again. Now, le chest is still closed, opening it make Punio teleport here, but he has no collision box and doesn't follow us anymore. Exiting the room still triggers le cutscene, and Punio is not here anymore when re-entering. And after that, Punio and Petuni in the first room of the GBT are intact, everyone's is fine.
I would imagine getting the Blue Key with Koops is still useful for speedrunning since it lets you skip watching the Petuni cutscene, right? Just so long as you never open the chest?
Most definitely. Instead of fighting the 10 jabbies and getting the chest, you can just get the key from the loading zone and unlock the 90 punies right after. Just make sure you defeat the 10 jabbies with your 101 punies before getting trapped by Crumps.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this! Looking forward to more glitches as they become discovered! Pretty funny you can absolutely softlock with this one! Jeez!
I ended up finding a similar softlock earlier in my playthrough! When doing the dirty shorts questline, if you close the lower table drawer and talk to Jolene in quick succession after speaking to the Goomba in Rogueport, the game softlocks after her dialogue ends (probably due to the game trying to complete an action when mario is in a weird position, since he moves to a specific spot during the Jolene cutscene).
I think this is less of a glitch and more of just an oversight from the devs. It's not like you did anything special to make the key spawn out of bounds and be able to grab it with Koops, it's just a case that the devs didn't either use a fake version of the key for the cutscene, or simply unload the key once it's off screen
Hey Koop, follower here, I was messing around with dooplis fight and something curious happend that, he can kill you twice if he use his jump or super jump if you're low health making lose two life mushrooms in the process and recovering 20 hp, kinda weird
maybe punio can manage to defeat the jabbies, if lucky, thanks to flurries help. VERY lucky.. still, there's a 102th member to this army which could help punio in this fight, if you had yet to get him. jabbles, the jabbies hidding in the secret great tree shop which is friend with punio. so, it would be 2 + flurry instead of 1 + flurry. still, jables is a kid jabbies. even with his help, i sometimes lose the fight vs 100 jabbies, if i don't intervene, even if it is 102 vs 100, instead of 101. still, it wouldn't help to add jables to the army. btw, after the chapter, jable is hiding something in the tree playing hide and seef with us. but i don't know if he is, if we never found him. bonus. if jable is found and recruited, he can be seen along with the other punies when we tell them good bye.
Oh, look at you folks finding even more ways to break the game. I get what they were trying to do with the Blue Key, but I think it backfired on them in the end.
What’s probably happening with that chest is that the games trying to check if the key was taken from the chest to open it or close it, but since you already got the key you didn’t take the key from the chest, so the check never gets activated, and whenever the chest reloads it’ll revert back to being closed.
So with Goombella's new ZL tattle ability, is that a way we can tell what sequence we are on without hacking to view the sequence? Or are Goombella's hints not tied to the sequence number?
Probably nothing special. The timer can run out during the Crump-Puny Elder cutscene just fine, I don't see why it would be different during any other cutscene.
Does the glitched cutscene still play even after the chapter has ended? Like, can you go back to the chest during the hunt for General White and still watch the cutscene, or does ending the chapter make the game correct itself?
This makes me wonder. When do you get the option to get your jabbie friend? The "102nd puni." Using them and Punio with some very well timed stunning with Flurrie (and an insane amount of luck) would it be possible to beat the 10 Jabbie squad?
