- As Wrath is just around the corner I thought I would share my views and experiences on setting up WoW on a gamepad. This can be a new way to play the upcoming expansions and this is cross compatible for both classic, TBC and Retail Shadowlands and Dragonflight, since this addon is supported in all iterations of WoW.
I hope to help you out a bit and get you started in this new and interesting way to play.

Im still trying to get the controller to function on my steamdeck for this game. Curseforge can't find my WOW install so I've had to add the addons into the interface folder manually but I'm too dumb to figure out how to configure the buttons

I cant get the keyboard to pop up on the Steam deck, steam + x doesn't work lol, I hear it pop up in the background but it won't come up in game 😅

I just did this for my steamdeck. It's tough using this while leveling because your rotation is always changing. It's alright for casual play on the go.

Hey! Thanks for the best guide on playing with a controller I've found on RUclips ! I followed your setup and it worked great with a PS5-controller. Now I just need to get used to actually playing with a controller after 10+ years of keyboard and mouse ^^ I'm also playing a hunter. Any helpful macros for controller play that you could share ?

I wish you could use this addon to recreate Legacy Movement option from FFXIV, where your normal backpedal S key becomes the down direction the joystick. Meaning you simply just run the other direction while camera remains position forward. This would be huge tbh.

Ty for the very helpful video helped me a ton cause I’m new to cpu and wow and was having a real hard time getting used to using the keyboard and all the skills so being able to use controller is huge for me but I did have one problem I play rogue and when I bind the poisons to one of my buttons it doesn’t pull up my list of applicable poisons or even put atleast one on for me it does nothing and I tried to make a hot bar with it so I could just click it with mouse and apply them normally but that didn’t work either any tips appreciated
Maybe try to hot bar the poisons individually

I’m using a Xboxone controller and I can’t use the right thumb stick for the camera without the mouse cursor pops up.The virtual keyboard pops up on the left thumb click,is there a way to shut it off.

Mounts go under Character tab - Pets. Now the only way I did that was by making a macro "/use "

I found this somewhat useful. Because I am using a Asus rog ally without a separate controller... Or trying to. I'm not wanting to use a keyboard and mouse because if I'm going to do that, I might as well play on my desktop. I like the idea of removing the spells and then binding the keys and then putting the Spells in. I do not know how to remove the spells first using the. Also I have g s e macros for my hunter, I don't know how to get those bound to work correctly either. I'm a total noob with this ASUS. I really think it would be fun if I could figure it all out.. I have tried Diablo 4. Which worked great but I would like to be able to play World of Warcraft on it. But I'm getting really frustrated trying to figure out how to do. The keybinds and macro to where it will work.
I just did this myself on my rog ally, I am starting to get comfortable with the set up process. If you need help and haven't done so Look up this video "HOW TO SETUP CONSOLE PORT on ROG ALLY in World of Warcraft" By Rhoody. The video helped me understand the addon and how to do the simple set up process, If you need help I'm here, replies will be hit and miss though!
Yeah, I watched his video also and got it set up. But there's still a few things. I'm not sure about that he didn't answer me. I'm not sure if he understood what I was asking. I haven't been playing anything for a little while, so i'd have to get back on and try to remember what my questions were LOL.
The problem im having is theres the X stuck on healbot frame and it wont go away

I've got an issue with my L1 + R1 buttons not wanting to map with button inputs, they just want to be standalone inputs and I'm unable to change this.
Any ideas as to why? Any help would be grand.
you have them bound to m1 and m2, you change those in the ABXY menu of the addon. anything bound to m1 and m2 cant be rebound
does anyone know if using this addon messes with your normal action bar setup?
id like to have a more laid back leveling experience, but would rather use keyboard/mouse for endgame stuff.

You can always enable/disable this addon and be back to your usual setup by saving and loading various profiles in this addon. There are also addons that save your action bar states making it easier to play across other computers or addons like this :)
how can i move mouse cursor if i use xbox controller?
Hey, i play a rogue and there is the stance bar that shows if I’m in stealth or not, is this a button or does it just show my stance? If it is a button how do I keybind it?
Yea if you go to the keybing setting there’s one called special stance or something stealth stance and that’s where you bind all your stealth abilities. The only ability I had a problem binding is poisons I have to open my spell book to apply them every time
I have the steam deck and i have to problem that when i change the spells from tot another slot it will change it too on my pc with keyboard. Does anyone have some tips how to set it right?
There is an addon that can save keybind states. There are also profiles in console port and bartender so you can always load one up when you switch where you play :)
failed on the first hurdle. I have no idea how to bring up the menu to choose the controller selection. none of my buttons seem to work.
Unbinding doesn't work for me, please help. Is that have to do anything with SD layouts, I'm using the default one (Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad) and even changing to mouse for trackpad and still nothing hmm?

How do you loot and interact with NPCs?
I had to enable the cursor and always show it to be able to do those 2 things.

@@mattbettinson4576 I mappes the loot key with Another function which is why it didn’t work. In dragonflight you just map an interact key 👍

Could you please help me, I have no idea how to target items you collect for quests for example - like crates or bottles.... I've searched the internet for it but nobody talks about it.
So at one point in the video I mention that I bind the interact button to R3 and it does precisely that. Hovering my croshair over a crate allows me to open it when pressing r3, same with looting, targeting and other such actions.

unfortunately yes, but you can make a seperate profile in dominos or bartender, and there is also another addon that saves binds / spells but the name escapes me.
Hello!! Im trying to use this add on on Rog Ally but i dont seem to be finding the right configuration-
I want to use Right stick as a free mouse, left click on RB and right click on RT, i dont need any camera fixing or auto aim as I’ll be using left click to move the camera and stick to click on the options i need
Also all the abilities will be switching panels between LB-LT and LB+LT. is this even possible using console port? When i open wow by default i can use right stick to move the mouse around and clicking as i want, but once i load the add on and launch the game on the gamepad mode i lose that feature.
Please if anyone can enlighten me on what is the right configuration for this id really appreciate it!! Thank!!
Has anyone had an issue where you cant interact with NPCs when using console port? I dont have this issue on my personal PC, but my friend using console port is having this problem
It’s the cursor that’s an issue. Sometimes the cursor overrides the reticle and interact key for some reason
Anyone know how to add mounts to the utility wheel? Mounts are not listed in items like the vid has...
wotlk put them in your character tab under pets
I dragged the mount from the character tab to the bag, then from the bag you add it to the wheel

you can and probably should use profiles to save and load states on both console port and dominos or bartender so you can revert changes
It seems my action bars are sort of locked... Like XYBA, seem to have to be in a predetermined location.
My action bar page isn't split into 3 like yours - mine just one big rectangle of binds.. in this normal?
Like it seems like it wants me to use LB + LT and then a, b ,y ,X or whatever.. but I'd prefer that to be Lt + RT and then whatever.. like can I even use the bins Lt + RT? Or will it be usable just not visible on my console port action bars? I'm a little confused

I was doing just fine with this add-on, and somehow I messed up the controls. Now my camera X axis is inverted. When I try to turn the camera left with the controller analog stick it goes right, and when I push the camera stick right, it turns left.
I have no idea how I did this, but is there any way to fix this?
Im sure theres a setting to invert some axies, its in there somewhere its just obfucated.
How do I install it
I have a problem in PvP where my RT and LT buttons get "stuck" not on the controller but in console port.
RT emulates Ctrl and LT emulates Shift. Basically I'm trying to switch between hotbars but I get "stuck" on a certain hotbar. Any ideas?

It seems like it only happens when my analog sticks are in a certain position, so its almost as if I have to change gears like I'm driving a stick shift.
Not sure if this helps but you might be cycling through your hotbars.
You have the default set, but there is a bind that let's you cycle hotbars. You'll find it in wows native keybind settings, not on consoleport settings.
Find the cycle binds, use them to select the hotbars you want - then unbind the cycle bind so you can't donlnit again on accident.
I cant bind my keys, it doesnt give me the 5secs timer to press the key and bind, please help
there are two menus to bind keys in, I reccomend you unbind everything and bind spells on the hotbar menu. For this process I also reccomend you use your mouse and keyboard too.

Hi! Do you know how I can easily switch between one addon setup and another? Say I want to switch to play with mouse and keyboard with another addon setup and then be able to return to controller? Thanks :)
You could either create a seperate/duplicate folder of your saved addon states in the WTF folder or you could just save and switch to different profiles in each addon that you use.

How do I make my stance/shapeshift keybinds not copy all the way down the row? As is all my first slots down are X, all second are A, so on.. Makes it very limited to play druid specs.
Still haven't found a fix
@@SPVC3D0UT Yeah it's quite annoying to keybind for druids or any class that has combat stances. I'm going to keep trying to see if there's a way to make it easier to bind, if I figure it out i'll post here.

it might be that wrath broke all addons a bit but using the cursor option on your controllee should work for now

you can put alternate bindings of pitch up and pitch down, and a few others for mount movement, but i forget whatthey are called

I strongly suggest doing all of this preparation and setup at your computer with a mouse and keyboard AND your controller nearby because the interface and the directions do not translate smoothly.

That is odd, it might be a controller thing, or the addon breaking with version changes. All in all the addon has a massive discord community and the dev is very active so your best bet is to try there :)

Cant find this simple yet necessary information anywhere: how do you bind ESCAPE key? I mean everyone needs a back button right? Why does nobody talk about this lol

consoleport addon got created way later into wows development so there isnt a 3.3.5 version of it, however there is something called xpadder, try that out :)
how do you zoom in and out on your character?
I personally dont, I always have the same camera distance but you can bind it in the menu.

To zoom in just hold the L2 and R2 buttons simultaneously and press the options button with three lines (not dots).To zoom out just hold the R2 and press the options again
My only problem so far with the addon is playing my Druid, different forms are different stances. But in the Consoleport menu, it doesn’t have enough buttons to utilize all my spells. Drag and drop doesn’t work either, even though it’s enabled. It’s like the addon stops me from putting “Druid” spells in my bear form bar with drag and drop, but I literally can’t add them from the bindings page because it only shows 12 buttons on the bar, when there’s 30+ available…. Any ideas?
Can you do a set up video for one that doesn't use console port. The wave of bans that happened because of the controller was not because of the controller. It was because of the addon Controller port and how it changed some aspects the game which breached Terms and Conditions.
Yea put in the allow Gamepad command and key bind your normal ui from there

This video seems out of date. I really wanted this addon to be as functional as everyone is claiming it to be, but my default settings are different to yours, and following your guide did not work on my end. The default setup they give you is atrocious and unusable.
I honestly hate this addon. it breaks your UI and then you spend more time fucking with the addon to get it right again than actually playing the game.
Yall keep saying this is fucking easy to set up, it's not it's passing me the fuck off on how frustrating this stupid console port shit is my RT resets my camera every time I move my camera and my left click joystick brings up this stupid fucking keyboard that blocks half my fucking screen and I can't get rid of that function on that button!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
