1) It's NOT a spacesuit. It can't survive in space. It needs to be inside a spacecraft.
2) The "innovation" of having an umbilical plug into the suit was a Gemini spacecraft feature. 1960s. As in, NOT new.

Hi James. You're correct - after further reading, that's exactly true. I guess they've just upgraded it. I was in a museum recently and saw those early umbilical cords - quite similar but likely fairly rudimentary. I wonder what are the main differences since then? Thanks for watching!
