I lost my dad when I was young, and lemme tell you, the "bargaining phase" is very real and a very bizarre experience.
I remember how I was trying real hard to think like a grown-up so I can make sense of it all. I only remember the experience being waves of emotion. I was a kid who was TRYING to rationalize, but I don't remember what I was actually thinking to do so.
These lyrics put that experience into very simple words and needless to say it got me just bawling on the spot. 😅

I like to think that the sultan tells his little story just to assert dominance. He just knows he can get away with saying whatever he wants.
One of my favorite lines from this entire show is from Aladdin, when he's talking about the Monkey.

It is such a throwaway line, yet it kills me every single time, because you're thinking, "Wait, screenplay? What are they working on?"
