Just a note on this specific prototype we tested - It should not have included Adaptive Variable Suspension and the Sport S/Sport S+/Custom drive modes. While AVS is available on 350 F SPORT models, it is only included with the Dynamic Handling Package that this vehicle did not have. The specs and pricing in the description are correct on the vehicle tested other than the AVS/Drive Mode features.
O man I really hope you do a night vid
Lol, the fact that AVS is still optional at this price, in this class with an interior this old is so so sad. This car should have all the toys and gimmicks included, if they’re going to be selling a 8yo vehicle brand new
@@sshah2545 as with any toyota you will never ever get cutting edge, you are paying for refinement and dependability. all the way from a corolla to the lc500 this is the case. toyota always stays a step behind the game, and its worked for them thus far.
@@VolvosandHondas I get it. But you’re wrong. I’m not paying them for anything. Owned 2 Lexuses and a Toyota, but I’m not going to come back until they release something compelling.
Maybe next gen IS, but if I’m going that route, might as well consider a Mazda 6. Supposedly going to be the same engine.
If they make a Mazda 6 RWD with a manual.. 🤤
Shikhar Shah Well i mean, im not wrong. That has literally been toyotas mindset since the 80s. “Oh no! Honda has developed the b16?! Get the 4age and throw cams, itbs, and anything else we have lying around on it... it can take it!”
Edit: This is also why they use Atkinson cycle engines instead if turbocharged engines in their modern lineup for the most part.
If they kept this car's general design and engine for decades but only upgraded interior tech I wouldn't complain at all.
sadly however, the green chasing European Union doesn't accept your proposal LOL
@Hynea as a petrolhead, yes, it does.
@@cedrichuen4080 haha that sucks bro i currently own a WRX STI and my next car will definitely be a lexus
You're not a forced induction fan I take it? I understand the appeal of a naturally aspirated engine of course but the acceleration and gas mileage of this 'new' are way behind its German competitors. It's not class competitive IMO.
@GG im not seeing that lol. btw the new civics look great anyways
Just wanted to say that this is exactly what POV Ride alongs / reviews should be! I really appreciate that you don't waste time introducing yourself, you got right to the point! It's also really nice that you don't add obnoxious music or add any noise filters so that we can actually hear what your voice sounds like over the interior sound. this gives us a true sense of the ride volume and how a conversation would sound during drives. Thanks for making such quality content!
you're welcome
The exterior of this car is positively amazing. That color and those wheels? Wow. The interior isn’t terrible. The red plastic wrapping onto the doors and the speakers are kinda funky. It sounds cool when you floor it too, at least from the inside. Overall pretty solid.
What I want: Lexus IS350 F Sport
What I can afford: Toyota Corolla LE
Give it a year it will be 25gs
@@dekaonderr by the time this gets to the price of a new Corolla it'll be 5-6 years old, Lexus depreciates far slower than Audi, BMW, Mercedes
Same here. However if it helps, the Corolla has gotten way nicer than it used to be.
Get a Camry
Same 😂
Maybe unpopular opinion about interior but: The interior is really nice. There are still buttons and not too much displays.
Interior fire don't know what people on about.
I feel like this is an issue with most of the Lexus cars, the interior gets too many button. I just bought a RX for my wife and boy, there are lots of buttons but my wife doesn't care..
Yea I think Lexus interiors are over hated
Don't get the hate looks nice
People have it too good these days I guess. This interior will be definitely be an upgrade for me from my 2002 lexus ES.
Somehow it feels modern and really dated at the same time
Haha I found that too when I reviewed it and I think it's because the outside is so stylish but the interior (even though still looks good) is a bit dated.
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaats lexus!
Haha yeah that's classic lexus all old buttons s
I like it
it's just the steering wheel that doesn't fit in with the style
Topher. Thank you. You always have the absolute best reviews. Camera quality / positioning is on point
sound as well i must admit
this is where I've started watching you from
a year passed and your channel still has the most atmosphere out of everything on RUclips
keep up the awesome work🔥✨
I JUST LOVE THIS CAR.
is perfect just needs isf version
Everything is perfect about this car except for the space it's not enough for tall people
I love it to, especially the sound. My wife just got a CT200h and I just picked up an absolutely mint 2008 RX350 Ultra premium package and I'm such a huge fan of the brand. Man I would love to get the 2GR in my RX to sound like this thing !
@@blairwilliams136 Congrats!!
@@tatendazuze bro that’s when i went straight from a IS to the RX! But after 3 years of bullshit maintenance and poor service at my Lexus dealership I had to drop Lexus. Cars are great, but man service is just bad by my house haha!
I love my IS. The euro cars do compete and win in a lot of areas, but not on longevity and reliability, which is rarely commented on in a review like this. So if that is something you value, and you intend to drive the vehicle for a long time, the IS is the winner. You most likely will not need to be fixing various oil leaks and other miscellaneous problems at 75k with this car.
I concur... I own an IS
I wanted reliability and it's enough for me on power side and audio and looks good for myself I love it
That V6 sounds pretty dang good
That’s because the sound is electronically pumped through the speakers lol
ive added a Full Ark Exhaust on mine and it even sounds better.
@@mmmmm4815 its not a bmw hahaha
@@mmmmm4815 that is a bold but uninformed and incorrect statement - unlike many with the sound generated by the audio system, this DOES have additional sound intentionally fed into the cabin, but it’s a physical, plumbed-in connection from the engine bay. So while still perhaps not “real”, it’s not artificially generated like many cars now, rather an augmented actual engine bay sound
@@mmmmm4815 The generation before this did not have any sound coming from the speakers. But I question why they implemented into the new IS. I know for sure the 2013-2015 models didn’t have any artificial sound.
I've had mine for 9+ years and haven't had a single issue with it. Has enough power to have fun but not enough to be dangerous and get you in trouble. In my opinion, it's the ultimate sporty, normal luxury car. I like that even with the sporty design and driving feel, it doesn't try and be a sports car. It embraces it's luxury platform just with a twist. And for this price range, the sound system is obnoxiously good. The reliability is also second to none. No issues in almost a decade.
Glad this car is old school and simple, I’m tired of annoying modern interiors and turbocharged powertrains, the looks are great too. This thing with a manual would be my modern dream sedan.
🔥🔥🔥
Great review. I like that you didn’t baby the car, but put it through just enough to show its abilities. That was a gnarly turn on that interchange.
Very nice review sir, I'm very impressed with the engine roar along with a great comfortable ride and sound system!!
watching these is great on a friday evening with nothing to do
I like it with the classic interior and it still has a spare tire and engine sounds good, tlx has fix a flat for the past few years. great review
Really good POV it shows the great view in the rear via the rearview mirror. Good narration and editing. Thumbs up
Own the 2nd Gen 2008 IS 350 RWD. A blanking spectacular car! 151k on the clock owned it since new and it has a spotless record of reliability. I think my next one is a RC-F.
Car looks good! Lexus has finally stepped up and changed their cars.
Thank you for including alot of information in the description. You saved me time!
Really good job on these reviews! Really well done, and also relaxing in a way!
Why you whispering
I was skeptical at first but I’m sold. Perfect balance of sport and luxury. Shifts could be snappier but In everyday driving, it’s fine. Thanks for the vid.
Omg! That sound system 😍
You’re a real one for doing a sound system check!
Nice video, glad to hear you like the car. Totally agree with you about the exterior improvements made on the car.
Beautiful car and I do love mine…now imagine this vehicle with panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, F Sport Stamped front seats, power rear view mirrors, HUD, phone charger, Mark Levinson audio/Triple LED Headlights on all models, new infotainment (NX)….that would have been a Lexurious launch for the IS 500/350 in 2022!
Thanks for a great review!
I know there are a lot of people bemoaning the interior as it is somewhat dated, but I actually like it. It's simple and easy to navigate.
All Lexus would have to do is make the TT V6 an option, and this thing would sell like hotcakes.
Love the exterior refresh bits. Lexus is really nailing it with their sedan and coupe lineup the last few years, I hope they sell well. I'd buy one if I could afford it. :)
Awesome pov video as usual thanks for this
Exterior wise - initially hated it but the more I see it the more I love it.
it is a badass looking car.....i'm getting one, but definitely not with that red ass interrior.....
The fact that the music sounds so good through a microphone is stunning. I will be getting a RWD model in the coming months so I’m excited
Did you end up getting it ? I am debating on getting one very very soon.
@@petya0980 Not yet. I am #4 on the list at my dealer for the IS500 which I expect to be out by October. But I drove the 350 and it’s definitely a great car. Super sexy as well
@@PS3Gameplays123 dang dude congrats ! How much did that run u?
@@petya0980 thanks man. Nothings final yet. For all I know, they price it too high and I’ll change my order to a 2022 IS 350 haha. There’s no official pricing but there’s been speculations that it’ll be somewhere between 60k-70k. I’m crossing my fingers for 60k, otherwise I might have to reconsider lol
@@PS3Gameplays123 good luck man!
Keep up the good vids
Your voice is so soothing
Ayeeee you’re from MI. Woot woot! I love Lexus IS
Niche. If you want a reliable daily that looks great and has great sound, resale and some soulful fun aspects- this is perfect (and for me). If you want a rocket ship , don’t buy a petro anyway. This car is plenty fast for what it is.
Finally added a touch screen that other companies did years ago
Lexus already had touch screens
@@loudnslow197 "HAD"
@@loudnslow197 not in 2018 IS300's
@@alfredo5439 They did it initally, because everyone was using mouses in the late 2000s, so they implemented it, for a brief moment touchpads are popular, but Tesla and Volvo and other automakers have caused a shift back, because people want it to operate like their phone.
Lexus, the Apple of cars.
Great review as always!
Matt plastic central console looks awesome, no glare. But still I LOVE WOOD one. So ES and GS stands out!
I owned 3 Lexuses prior to starting my channel with the 2021 Stinger GT AWD. Lexus is hands down one of the best cars one can buy. After this car, I’m going for the IS 500 since I couldn’t get the IS-F back in the day. I really hope the IS500 comes out! Fingers crossed 🤞
At 6:07 , that engine was purring, damn that's sounds 🔥
Damn bro you really took us on a road trip such a vibe
I test drove this this past weekend and I enjoyed it! I'm going to get the 2023 Lexus IS 350 F Sport when the right color and features come into stock nearby. If not the desler said he'd bring one from another city to us so that I'd be able to buy it. It had all the nice features. Wonderful drive, smooth, quiet, good amount of power and it was a RWD. It looks absolutely beautiful. I like that the interior is simple and easy to use no matter what you do
Awesome exhaust sound..
Damn this thing looks good
best american review so far. you gived full throttle and show us the sound system :)
Looks like a great daily. Awesome video.
Car looks clean and I'd buy one for sure 👍👍
I drove this car recently… the f sport version is great. The engine is buttery smooth and the transmission is smooth but this would be slightly better with the eight speed. The car steering is perfectly weighted and it has great turn in for 90 degree turns. Very easy car to get in and immediately feel right at home!!
The RWD does come with the 8-speed which is what I test drove this past weekend.
I love your videos bro they are so cool bro keep them up
I want one of these now. It's a perfect balance of "fun" and balanced
Love the new exterior look of the car.
Was hoping there would be newer engine options to compete more with its German competitors.
idc idc idc i love that red interior
Lexus interior looking nice 🔥🔥🔥
I love the lighting in this video. Way to take advantage of the Golden Hour!!
Looks good. The interior is gorgeous too.
Toyota/Lexus 4 life. Love the brand !
Great review! Just ordered mine.
That engine note is so amazing
The sound system from the lexus sounds better in this video than if I were to just play music on my laptop through my headphones lol
How I wished they were a manual option.
Man I love Lexus.
Lexus makes some damn good sounding exhaust notes!!!
The sound freaking good

I purchased mine this past weekend. Love love love. Knowing it will last a long time and have great resale value made this an easy pick. Also, the quality of every single component is evident with this car.
How much you pay a month ? How much you give down?
@@TheChosen_-zf7llthat’s the only reason to buy this car it’s overpriced but the resale is amazing it’s actually a very cheap car to drive
finally first good looking lexus i would buy! 🤩
Love the design, almost everything is right.
Great car can't wait for the ISF to make a comeback
Since GSF is gone maybe 🤞🏼
I was disappointed when I first heard the lauch. However while the improvements and changes are subtle, they seem to really nail down the sport sedan aspect of the car.
I still wish for more power, but given Lexus reliability and now AA & CarPlay, this is a great daily.
you can always tune
@@lowkiisavage1151 there's not a lot of tuning options for these cars. for the 2is at least there were pretty much two aftermarket tuning options although they really just played with moving shiftpoints deeper into redline. I wish there were more options.
I love this review. And I love Lexus! Both subtly luxurious.
BEAUTIFUL
I am a Lexus fan for sure but this needs a real redesign especially with the GS gone.
Why did they discontinue the GS?
@@daniel022209 almost no company has 4 sedans. They had the is, es, gs and ls. They had to save some money somewhere and the gs sold the least out of all of them. Plus the gs was ugly. Not always but the last one was super plain looking.
@@picklejay7822 my actual favorite was the 2013 to 2016 GS and it had a sporty exhaust note to it. I wonder if they were able to integrate that into the 2021 ES. If so, that will win me over.
So disappointing GS is gone !!! I loved the 98 GS models. Why did they get rid of this line ???

That system hits nice
Very possible I’m going to be signing a lease on one of these next week. It’s a gorgeous car! Exterior looks amazing and I honestly like the interior as well. The interior has a very sturdy industrial look to it. I’ve driven the car twice now and both times I was very impressed with the comfort and drivability. Plus, it’s a Toyota, it’ll last forever with proper maintenance. V6 AWD and it’s comfortable and absolutely beautiful! Yeah, I’m looking forward to daily driving it! Getting out of my Mazda 6 and I’m really looking forward to that AWD!
@MELLOW luxury Toyota man…
Did you get this?
@@Mac-ih7rb I did. Beautiful car and it rides on rails. Handling is superb. Unfortunately, mpg is pretty bad…. I average 18-20 mostly highway with mostly responsible driving(70-75). So I’m glad it’s a lease…. I’m already researching the Tesla Model S for my next car. I’ve never gotten even close to the quoted EPA of 26 mpg with the Lexus. Kinda BS….
Is it better to lease it than Finance?
@@abhisheknauduri7013 depends on what you’re looking for… leasing is usually 2-3 years vs financing 5-6 years. Leasing, you can trade the vehicle in at any time for a newer model and when the lease is over, you can trade it in or purchase it if you love it and you know how the vehicle has been maintained. Financing, you’re generally stuck with the vehicle, unless you can find a dealer to buy it out but be prepared to take a financial bath in trade value…
If you want to just drive the car, not have to worry about any maintenance, build your credit, and essentially “test” the vehicle to make damn sure it’s right for you; leasing isn’t a bad option. A lot of people frown upon leasing but 🤷🏻♂️ you’re driving a brand new, worry free vehicle, and if you don’t fall in love with it, you’re not trapped in it…
I traded in my IS350 for a RX350(more space) and like it a lot. Drives AMAZINGLY smooth and handles extremely well for a SUV. My RX lease will be up in 2 years, so if I don’t find anything better for the same value, I’ll probably just buy the RX out.
Driving an ES350 right now and want a sportier car as my next car. I think this is the one. Whatever year I decide to upgrade hopefully there will be a CPO here. I’ve been looking at a Q50, Type-S, 340i and S4 but nah this is the one. Gotta stay with Lexus.
If reliability, resale and durability are your priorities, the Lexus cannot be beat. If it's anything else, the Lexus is blown out of the water.
@@nallis01 Yup. Totally agree. I think the thing is I have issues with all the other competitors, mainly reliability and weird quirks whereas I know the Lexus isn't the best drive but is super consistent and I can do my commute in peace. The Q50 is super outdated and just looks bad. I hate the Acura shifter button crap. S4 and 340i both have middling reliability scores with very high overall maintenance costs. I think for someone like me who enjoys driving but also can't wrench worth a darn, the Lexus is the best balance haha.
im obsessed, hope it can be my first anyway great vid :)
thats the best sadan out there you cant compare lexus quality drive . i would love this instead of my camry
Bespoke and clean interior. Lexus has a great stylish design. However, infotainment is dated compared to other high end luxury cars. Quality of materials is good. Great 👍🏾 video bro.

@@Fake2JZ Tesla, but their build quality is another discussion 😅
@@Brzeczyszczykiewicz1 nooooo way, too much clutter. maybe im a little old school but i would rather not have a tv in my car...
I almost got a 2018-2020 350 AWD but wish I could get the 8+ speed on AWD models, wish they updated their outdated start up chime, and AWD actually worked. I also wish it had more technology, switch back sequential turn signals and so on... I have a lot of complaints clearly but new one is very sleek
Great video and review, many thanks! The engine sounds great, my IS250 sounds like a sewing machine in comparison. Maybe I need a fancier exhaust system. It's a shame this model isn't available in the uk
This is the video that made me get a is
If you supercharged this and suspension/brakes this car would be amazing in my opinion.
just a suggestion: for the walkaround parts, you might want to use standard angle cameras. The wide angle makes it look very distorted and not true to real life, hence the car looks super stubby in your video. Works great when trying to show more interior though!
it's gorgeous and thats about it
What a goergous sound! Definitely a nice sport sedan.
How does The Topher make me like every car he drives.
It’s that smooth sultry voice
Because he’s unable to criticize cars for some reason, and therefore doesn’t give proper reviews.
i think because he doesn't just ramble on about performance and trivial things like a lot of the other reviewers do non stop. He looks at thaw whole package
