One of the fun things about college is when a professor gets to teach a course about a special interest of theirs. "The Beatles and the Cold War", "Horror Films and Fears of Technology", "Yetis", etc.

The host only appeared a few times during the showing, and he didn't have your witty sensibilities. I remember then, lying in bed watching this, that it was the most schlocktastic things my teenage had seen up to that point! One of the things you didn't mention is that in the original release, the producers used the '70s one-hit wonder song "Popcorn" by Hot Butter (you can find it here on RUclips) during the party scene, but for copyright reasons weren't able to use it for DVD releases. The song actually adds to the weirdness of the whole thing -- and I mean that in the good way. You can find the whole movie on Tubi, with the Popcorn song playing.

The symphony itself is in the public domain (written in 1830), but in the US, most audio recordings made after 1924 are protected by copyright, and I’m pretty confident that the artists and record company involved never knew of their involvement in this cinematic masterpiece.
Northern New York state does have a legendary "Yeti" cryptid known as the *Wejuk* (pronounced wee-juck), but as far as I know there is no cannibal cults in upstate New York; but, it's a big place, so who knows! Unfortunately it's more likely that human munching hillbillies exist and not sasquatch. And if anyone is ever in the Lake Champlain area between New York and Vermont; there is a legendary lake monster known affectionately as *"Champie."* The Truth is out there.
