Am 56yrs old. Had a few ABA bouts in the 70's. Was ok, but knew I'd never be good enough to be a top flight amuteur or pro, but nevertheless really enjoyed the training at the time. Training consisted of a lot of skipping, bag work and sparring. Did some pad work, but NOTHING TO COMPARE to this. I wish I'd had a trainer like this, as I think it would have added a whole different dimension to the training and probably/possibly made me a better fighter. Excellent video!!
@@sheliaaustin2800 Thanks for your post Shelia. I'd like to think with this trainer coaching me, I'd maybe be taking less head shots though. Who knows..??!!..🤣
Top stuff as usual. I can imagine Coach would be the top teacher at anything he chose to do whether it was physics, math, English or another sport or discipline. This is because Coach makes all his tutorials interesting and brings the passion, he talks in terms we can all relate to and he shows and tells and then further breaks things down to their base parts. If only we had teachers like this... Actually, yes. We did use to have teachers like this in all parts of life and the old boxing coaches, but sadly they have been pushed out for reasons I cannot fathom. Can you imagine sitting round a table talking boxing with Coach Tom, Manny Steward, Eddie Futch and Roger Mayweather to name a few? That would be gold dust. Please keep on with your tutorials. They are appreciated.
Thanks for all the support Michael!👊🏼 I really appreciate it! Please consider sharing the videos. Also for other boxing related information and tips follow me on Instagram @tomyankelloboxing and Danny @danny_bodish
Love it!! Coach is dropping bonus material for us! Totally loved the way you segued in the bonus of the parry into this drill... This is why you are the greatest... Not only are you carrying all them aces up your sleeve, but you ain't too precious not to share. It's appreciated. You think on the fly and that's TOP TIER!!!

Rarely is foot placement/ distance, and balance taught like this, to bring technical aspects of understanding and explaining how hip rotation and torque without wasted motion are brought into a fluid rhythm of offense to defense flow. Great Lesson. This is solid educational Boxing IQ training mittwork, not just punching we often see with no balance or defensive IQ built in and fighters pay not understanding the fundamentals.💯🥊🥊👑
Im a 50yr old veteran of watching fights on tv..since ‘74 In March I bought a heavy bag and gloves and started using an online uk coach hes been really encouraging..them I found ur channel and I’ve also learned a huge amount of knowledge and RESPECT Now I’m a member of a boxing club 3 times a week I love it so much..watching this pad work is like poetry hands body and foot positions are awesome.. You’re providing top notch goals to aim for ..thanks bro🥊🥊
Another knockout video, coach Tom! I know I haven't commented for a while, but I watch every single video you post and I take its concept to the gym. As you already know, I am one of the biggest fans of your channel! 🥊
I've just started sparring, I'm 6 ft so taller than most but lighter. Spent countless hours practicing staying on the outside, moving holding the jab out turning pivoting. I keep getting steam rolled flinching then a few blinded shots to my body and I take a knee. I need to stand toe to toe and block so hopefully these elbows work 👍👍👍
Coach I'm an ex fighter who wants to train other fighters. My question deals more with what process or approach should you take to develop a routine or system to train your fighters. I know everyone is different but where is the baseline? I also understand this is a very broad question so I'm grateful for whatever answer you can provide. Love the content, btw Verquan Kimbrough is a family friend of mine.
Awesome drill. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The boxing world is grateful to you!
I totally agree he’s fantastic
Use those drills to off balance your opponent to control the exchanges and the engagements
First place I've seen the body mechanics of a slip explained in detail, great video

Get back to it. Older boxers coming back. Hydrate well will protect head injuries.
