What helped me with my acne (and more importantly: acne scars) is: 1. microneedling (done from a professional guys! Don’t do it yourself!). But be patient. I had 5 sessions (each a month apart) and the first three made my skin even worse, only after the fourth time I saw miracles. 2. niacinamide. My skin barrier was (still is) completely damaged and niacinamide helped 3. BHA (don’t overdo it, twice a week is enough 👀). 4. azelaic acid in the morning 5. moisture, moisture, moisture. I layer some toners and a thick moisturizer now, becaude apparently my skin was only oily, because it was so damned dehydrated. 6. snail mucin. Sounds gross, my skin loves it. 7. sunscreen. Every day. 8. double cleansing to get rid of everything in the evening. You‘re welcome 🙏🏻

For those who struggle with a lot of outbreaks because of harsh cleansers I found something that doesn’t fix the problem a 100% but at least 90%. I tried a million cleansers for my breakouts until I found the SBT Cleansing gel. I have psoriasis and a sensitive combination skin, allergic to aloe Vera. And this stuff works for 6 years now! It’s so clean that I can combine it with several treatments including retinol and salisylic acid without any problems and it breaks down make-up pretty good.

I wanted to comment saying thank you for your helpful tips with cleansing and serums. I had bad cystic acne a few years ago that lasted a few years and it was awful. I had previously been using proactive the whole time i was in high school and it stopped working and i developed cysts. Watching your videos and gaining the insight you provided helped me get my skin under control- although i DID need to take accutane, but the gentle cleansers like cetaphil or cereve helped keep it all in check. So thank you hyram! A coworker showed me you and i am sooo thankful for that. ❤
Thank you so much for the tips. My mom struggles with severe acne that she's had since she was a teen, and I've been trying to get her to start a skincare routine and take care of her skin! This helped so much!!!
To those who are struggling with acne scars, I think a really good product to try would be Rosehip oil. I struggled with acne scars sooo bad when I was younger due to picking, and I think rosehip oil saved my skin. And it works well on acne prone skin. Thank you Hyram!! Because of your channel, I was able to find the perfect skin care routine that isn't too harsh on my skin (that lovely combo skin that can't decide what it wants to do day to day). Thank you for all your advice and tips! By the way... your hair looks amazing!!
I have always had dry, sensitive skin that is not acne prone. Many things are way too strong for it. As a teenager, I would use my brother's spot treatment for my occasional pimple, and it would get rid of the pimple, but also dry out that spot and leave me with a new red spot on my face. Hand to God, what has always worked for me is rubbing alcohol on a q-tip as a spot treatment for a few seconds until the pimple is gone (usually takes a day or two). That the extent of drying my skin can take. Then again, I don't have acne.
That’s good advice. Acne (literally every pimple) is a bacterial infection, so killing the infection with alcohol makes sense. The acolhol kills the bacteria and removes the dead tissue and bacteria. That’s why it works. He’s just giving bad advice in the video. But then you also need to make sure the bacteria doesn’t come back, which means always using clean towels for your face and washing the pillowcase / sheets at least once a weak (and definitely fresh ones after treatment). Otherwise the acne comes back, as the skin barrier defence is removed by the alcohol and rubbing new bacteria into that unprotected skin (from hands, pillowcase, your partner or pet or whatnot) results in even worse flareups. People underestimate simple hygiene on all these skin channels, they’re just trying to push product to make money.
Please answer one more question! Is it okay to use 2% SA cleanser and 0.5% SA moisturizer 2x a day? I also use SPF in the mornings. I recently learned about over exfoliation/damaging your skin barrier and I definitely don't want to do that. But SA is the only ingredient that keeps my acne at bay. Is it one of those "as long as it doesn't irritate my skin" things or is it an absolute no?
Pretty much anything that kills bacteria which causes the acne infection itself (SA, alcohol etc) will damage the skin barrier, so just make sure to moisturise afterwards to rebuild and protect. If your skin looks fine after whatever you’re using, then it’s fine!
What about Benzoyl Peroxide? We tried multiple Salicylic Acid products for my daughter, but when we switched to a cleanser with Benzoyl Peroxide (Cerave Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser) she finally started to see results. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk about it. I’d love to hear thoughts composing the two.
This helped a lot! My question is can you keep using acne patches for several days in a row or is there a certain amount of times you should put on a acne patch per week?
I would like to know your thoughts on the use of sulfur soap or a sulfur mask to help with acne and scarring too. My derm recommended it to me and it has worked wonders for my skin. My skin isnt completely clear yet but it is something that I put in my skin care routine. Would love to know your thoughts on the use of it
🌟 Hyram looking stunning! I’ve been using Paula’s choice since I saw your review with Kia Berber top model … the products are wonderful, since I work on a medical office as tech and office; I have to wear a mask for safety… since pandemic my skin went cray cray breaking out so much from my cheeks and jaw 😭 I went to a dermatologist helped so much, then I decide to buy the products you recommended on that video and it’s helped so much….. I do breakout but their so small and with products helps so much…. It looks healthier even though I could I have one or two breakouts but super small 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 so happy I saw your video review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 thank you!!!!
@@Hyram for the acne spots Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, fresh Lotus day and Night Moisturizer. I’m going to be honest I had always suffer with acne always 2 or 3 on my face, but since pandemic 😩😭 . I hope someone reads this review and decides to buy them, they really helped me….
I tried differin gel, it made my face breck out so badly for months on end so I had to stop using it, plus I couldn’t use my usualy exfoliating products with it which I love them, so I’ve swapped to using vitamin C and my acids and my skin looks and feels a lot better. I still have pimples but you can’t do much about hormones sadly. But my skin was hell when it was dry during the winter, but now it’s starting to go back to combo oily. Thank you niacinamide. I also love Skullcap root extract as a skin ingredient
Now because The Ordinary provides serums for individual uses, instead of having one that does all, can u layer different serums from The Ordinary on ur face? Why or why not?🫶🏽 (maybe next video idea!)
Hyram!! Thank you so much for this video... I have these bumps on my cheek area which have been now since long enough. I don't use anything harsh mostly everything ordinary. Sometimes the are more purged other days not even visible but always there.
I am 19 and i started skincare an year ago before it I really didn't have a routine now I that do after watching you (thank you so much ❤) I really have far less dullness and sun damage but these little bumps on cheeks which are alot in no. Few on forehead too have been here past 4-5 months before this I didn't have acne or bumps occasionally 4-5 pimples. I have kind of dehydrated oily skin (which gets dry really easily 😐 even mild cleansers are very stripping for me) and even a little bit of over moisturizing breaks me out which could be cause of these tiny bumps I think because winters 🥶. I use just niacinamide, azelaic acid and twice a week retinol (0.3%). These just don't go...
Eh I've always used a dab of rubbing alcohol on a pimple and it goes away in a day or two. if I leave it alone it just stays there. I'm also poor so rubbing alcohol is something I've always had on hand. I will be getting the Paula brand salicylic Acid to try tho!
Rubbing alcohol works because it instantly kills the bacteria in the pimple and surrounding skin area. It’s the cheapest and fastest way to treat acne. But influencers don’t like it as it doesn’t make them money pushing product. Salicylic acid works also if the infection isn’t that strong or deep-set, but it’s a much milder and thus slower solution and won’t work on all bacteria types.
hi hyram! i’m actually so late to discovering your channel, but it has seriously helped me so much with using products that are actually good for my skin. have you thought about making a video about multi use products for smart spenders? example: i can’t afford to buy like multiple types of moisturizers for different purposes, so i use the cerave sa lotion for rough and bumpy skin! it treats the keratosis pilaris on my body, and also treats and lightly exfoliates my face acne. i would love some advice and clarification if this is good or not! thank you for making these super helpful videos lovie :)
Since you are the ingredient expert on youtube, Please do a video about the Sheglam makeup! I feel like everyone is talking about how good it looks, but no one is talking about whether its SAFE to use or not
I have a question if you decide to make another video like this. I'm having problems with my acne because of my birth control. Do you have any products or recommendations to help with it?
Okay so does drinking water actually like benefit your skincare in anyway? But like I do drink alot of water and I notice I don't get alot of acne on top of doing my skincare too.
Omg I remember this channel. I've been struggling with actually finding what I need to help my acne. I've tried Proactiv, clearasil, doterra's skin stuff, etc etc. And I'm just now realizing I have to find out what my skin actually needs and I'm finally trying out curology. I'm really hoping that it works cause the feeling of trying so hard to get rid of it and nothing working sucks.
Thank you so much, Hyram! That was really interesting! What would you suggest for atrophic (indented) scars? I have several from chickenpox and also one from acne (it’s still new). What do I do to treat them at home?
Hi Hyram! I love your videos and you’ve helped me learn so much about skin care and skin health in general. Since I was young, I’ve always naturally had sunken eyes. I’m aware that it’s most likely genetics but I’ve been trying to search ways I can make them appear less noticeable without having to get fillers or surgery. Do you have any recommendations?? Thank you so much 💕
hey there,😘sooooooo..........i break out around my lips and sometimes on my lips .....its sooooo painful and i really dont know what to do to prevent it😭😭😭plz plz plz help
Hyram your teeth are so white! How do you whiten them? I got mine whitened at a salon but i only saw a difference for 1-2 days and then they looked normal again :(
I find wearing make-up helps with my picking (it's a nervous thing for me, I don't realise I'm doing it) I'm more aware of touching my face when I'm wearing it and I'm more motivated to wash my face at night (I'm lazy and mainly wash it in the morning which doesn't help lol)
I mean if you got prescribed azaleic acid im assuming your doctor wants you to stick with that only for now. But other prescription that is used for rosacea is metronidazole, ivermectin, and sometimes clindamycin. But azelaic acid by itself for mild-moderate rosacea is effective
Hii Hyram! My mom is 40, and she has acne (she never had acne, she got it after she was pregnant with me), she has oily, dull skin, dark spots and her pimples are painful, she uses lots of acne medications and they all dry out her skin (she has oily skin) can you give a full skincare routine for her please!!
What do u think about the high frequency wands? Would u recommend it to someone who has been struggling with acne for the past 5 years and tried everything except this?😢
I struggling with hyperpigmentation I don't pop my pimples and ance scars still come and I have really dark circles around my eyes from genetics nothing works please help
I've never had problems with acne until I was 27 years old. Bad cystic acne and whiteheads all over my face, especially on cheeks and jawline. I didn't even want to go out of my house, I was so embarrased. I tried with few products that everyone was hyping them up, but my skin got even worse. Those products that DIDN'T worked and I had kind of bad reaction to them were: Benton Snail bee high content essence, COSRX AHA/BHA toner, Frudia Ultra UV Shield sun essence, La Roche Posay Anthelios Shaka Fluid spf 50+, Cerave Foaming and Hydrating cleanser, Cerave Moisturizing lotion. Finally after almost a year and a lot of acne scaring, I've found perfect skincare routine for me that helped (helps) me with scaring, redness, acne and all over my oily, sensitive skin (and also my first pretty little wrinkles). AM: - La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel - Benton Aloe BHA skin toner - La Roche Posay Effaclar duo + (only on cheeks and jawline, where I usually got most acne) - Innisfree Green Tea balancing lotion - Eucerin Sun Gel-Cream oil control spf 50+ PM: - Heimish All Clean balm - La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel - Benton Aloe BHA skin toner - La Roche Posay Effaclar duo + (only on cheeks and jawline, where I usually got most acne) - Innisfree Green Tea balancing lotion PM every 2 days: - Heimish All Clean balm - La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel - Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum - La Roche Posay Cicaplast balm B5+ + if I get any pimples, I use Purito All Care Recovery Cica-Aid acne patches :)
My dermatologist told me that products won't really help with acne scars cause they don't really go through the skin barrier and that I need to use laser treatment to see any difference. Could that be true? Cause it left me a bit desperate 😢
Hey Hyram! I have been your fan for a long time and I wanted to ask about what I need to use for my oily a** skin. So I have seen your best serum, cleaner, etc videos but I'm still confused on which I should get to start getting my skin the help it FR needs ^^' What kind of like brands are best that I can use to start my routine? Hey Hyram! I am a Canadian and can’t buy the body wash you recommended for back acne. Do you have any recommendations that are available from somewhere like Sephora which is in Canada? (Target doesn’t ship here😢)
I live in canada too and in Shoppers I see a facial cleanser by Florence by Mills brand that has sylacilic acid. Face cleansers can be used as body washes too and that brand is cruelty-free and vegan
i’ve been wondering this for a while but is the neutrogena stubborn acne line good for acne? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Also i love ur vids and have been watching for a couple years❤️❤️
Thank you so much, you cleared most of my doubts. I recently got a serum with glycolic acid, niacinamide and salicylic acid as it's main ingredients. I wanted to know if it is safe to use as it has a high concentration of alcohol in it
I use stridex maximum strength that has 2% salicylic acid and I'm also using a hydrating cleanser and before I start out doing all that I was using benzoyl peroxide 10% and then stoppef and then 4% I have been dealing with acne 4 years and I'm only 14 I don't know what else to use
Make sure to change your pillow case every other day, sheets once per week and always use a freshly laundered clean towel every time you shower and wash your face. benzoyl peroxide will kill the bacteria that causes the pimples, but that won’t help if the bacteria immediately comes back from your pillow or anything else that touches your face. In fact the peroxide break down the skin barrier, so keeping the fresh layer free from bacteria is important. Apple Benzoyl peroxide at night, wash off in morning and dry with a fresh towel, moisturise after to protect skin layer during day. Repeat.
Hey Hyram! I have been struggling with ance for years and I have tried so many different products. I really need help finding a skincare routine. What would you recommend?

I’d love a video about what acids are safe to use simultaneously with retinols
YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON NON TOXIC, EWG APPROVED SKIN PRODUCTS 💕
There’s no money for influencers in that.
Hey Hyram, love your videos. Can you please recommend cures or treatments for hormonal acne in one of your questions video.
Omg thank you so much for sharing your story I love that! I’m so happy for you! 🥹
@@Hyram for the acne spots Mario Badescu
Drying Lotion, fresh
Lotus day and Night Moisturizer. I’m going to be honest I had always suffer with acne always 2 or 3 on my face, but since pandemic 😩😭 . I hope someone reads this review and decides to buy them, they really helped me….
part 2??
Is it alright to use a gentle salicylic acid treatment in the morning skincare routine and use an adapalene treatment at night?
If your skin tolerates it then it is fine to do.
i eat these videos UP lol (even though i gave up bc my acne is mainly bc of severe pcos) ❤❤❤
I have been using the blue version of that Paula's Choice. They also have a back version, too. So, don't use it everyday??
Love this! I hope you make more q&a videos! ♥️
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Hello hyram, is it ok if I use tretnoin and benzoyl peroxide acne gel treatment together?, both are
prescriptions
Of course! I hope some of these help!
Would you be able to talk about earth harbor? Im not quite sure wether or not its a good skincare brand😊 also love your videos!
Love the hair!!
Thank you! 💙
Is it okay if I use the CeraVe SA Cleanser at night, and swap it with Differen Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser in the morning?
I’d like to request for you to make a video reviewing all the SPF sticks you can get your hands on so I know which one to buy thanks!!
Since you are the ingredient expert on youtube, Please do a video about the Sheglam makeup! I feel like everyone is talking about how good it looks, but no one is talking about whether its SAFE to use or not
I love this! I also struggle with acne I've got my face under control but my body acne is different!
Hey @skincarebyhyram u didn’t say a product recommendation for vitamin c??!?
I have a question if you decide to make another video like this. I'm having problems with my acne because of my birth control. Do you have any products or recommendations to help with it?
I've been breaking out mainly on my chin area?any idea as to why.I eat healthy and don't eat dairy or sugars...please help
Okay so does drinking water actually like benefit your skincare in anyway? But like I do drink alot of water and I notice I don't get alot of acne on top of doing my skincare too.
Can you do a video about the order that you’re supposed to to use everything for a skin care routine
I hope it works for you too boo! 💙
Will be great if you do one such video on Melasma/Blemish treatment
Thank you so much, Hyram! That was really interesting!
What would you suggest for atrophic (indented) scars? I have several from chickenpox and also one from acne (it’s still new). What do I do to treat them at home?
Hi Hyram! I love your videos and you’ve helped me learn so much about skin care and skin health in general. Since I was young, I’ve always naturally had sunken eyes. I’m aware that it’s most likely genetics but I’ve been trying to search ways I can make them appear less noticeable without having to get fillers or surgery. Do you have any recommendations?? Thank you so much 💕
How come your skincare line is now in Home Bargains (UK) for like £1.99?!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes 😮
hey there,😘sooooooo..........i break out around my lips and sometimes on my lips .....its sooooo painful and i really dont know what to do to prevent it😭😭😭plz plz plz help
Hyram your teeth are so white! How do you whiten them? I got mine whitened at a salon but i only saw a difference for 1-2 days and then they looked normal again :(
its hard to get into a in person dermatologist now :( they book out for months, the struggle is real!!
In many countries at least there are options with online derm services like Curology, Dermatica, Apostrothy etc.
What is your number 1 online dermatologist service?
Can you please do a review on numbuzin No.3 Porcelain Base-skip Tone Up Beige Cream ?? Please I need to know if it’s good or not
Hi Hyram! My son says if he had a skincare line he’d name it Hyram Proof!😍
Never been this earlyyy😮🎉🎉hyram you really helped my skin...and i have been breaking out like crazy sooo thank you for this vid❤❤
😅😅u😊🎉😊
Aww I hope the video helps! ☺️
@@Hyram it really does thank you
Another tip for the skin picking: i use pimple patches to create a barrier! Works really well and reminds me to leave my skin alone
I find wearing make-up helps with my picking (it's a nervous thing for me, I don't realise I'm doing it) I'm more aware of touching my face when I'm wearing it and I'm more motivated to wash my face at night (I'm lazy and mainly wash it in the morning which doesn't help lol)
@@jessicawilson5908 same wearing makeup helps me as well! Don't want to ruin it haha
Hyraaaam do you have a video targeted at Rosacea? 😭 I just got diagnosed and prescribed Azeleic Acid but I don’t know what products to pair it with 🥴🥵
I mean if you got prescribed azaleic acid im assuming your doctor wants you to stick with that only for now. But other prescription that is used for rosacea is metronidazole, ivermectin, and sometimes clindamycin. But azelaic acid by itself for mild-moderate rosacea is effective
YOU LOOK SO GOOD HYRAM ❤
Hi hyram how do i get rid of atrophic scarring cause by acne? Love your videos❤️
First thing i thought when i clicked on this video was - hyrams hair looks good!
Aww thanks boo 🥹
AM:
- La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel
- Benton Aloe BHA skin toner
- La Roche Posay Effaclar duo + (only on cheeks and jawline, where I usually got most acne)
- Innisfree Green Tea balancing lotion
- Eucerin Sun Gel-Cream oil control spf 50+
PM:
- Heimish All Clean balm
- La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel
- Benton Aloe BHA skin toner
- La Roche Posay Effaclar duo + (only on cheeks and jawline, where I usually got most acne)
- Innisfree Green Tea balancing lotion
PM every 2 days:
- Heimish All Clean balm
- La Roche Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel
- Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum
- La Roche Posay Cicaplast balm B5+
+ if I get any pimples, I use Purito All Care Recovery Cica-Aid acne patches :)
My dermatologist told me that products won't really help with acne scars cause they don't really go through the skin barrier and that I need to use laser treatment to see any difference. Could that be true? Cause it left me a bit desperate 😢
He’s correct. Laser or Tretinoin treatment (prescription) is needed to treat acne scars.
[In your opinion of course!]
Thank you for making these videos! I’ve been struggling to know if I can use a gentle silicone brush to wash my face when I double cleanse?
Hyram! Can you do a video on Keratosis pilaris, I have it and would love to know the best products
Love your videos Hyram!
Thank you!
Please please please! I need help getting rid of a deep forehead wrinkle I have. HOW
i’ve been wondering this for a while but is the neutrogena stubborn acne line good for acne? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Also i love ur vids and have been watching for a couple years❤️❤️
I actually saw a dermatologist recommend that product on tiktok actually
Do you think you can make a video about serums you recommend?
I have combination skin and my nose is super oily and salicylic acid never helps me😢😢
Thank you so much, you cleared most of my doubts.
What would you recommend?
hi hyram i am struggling with acne after shaving so you have any tips
PLEASE tell me more about ” Bielenda ” and if its okay to use! I see so many of their products in Finland but nobody talks about it 😞
So you would recommend retinol and Tretinoin (another retinol) on top of that?
Do you have any recommendations to treat hormonal acne on sensitive skin?
Hyram please do a reaction to Niall skincare routine by Vogue. 🥺
Hey hyram! What do you think about trying korean skin care, it has been viral. I do enjoy watching a review video of korean brands!
I know your expertise is in skincare, but do you ever discuss foundation for skin care issues? I have acne prone skin, but I love to wear foundation since it evens out my skin tone. However, I feel the foundation continues to cause breakouts
