I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.
I don't see the "considerable" improvement in quality, it seems to be the same quality with different levels of sharpness. 60fps is nice I guess but, when you're mainly just sitting still, the benefit is going to be negligible. The biggest apparent upgrade isn't even the camera but the background removal software which is just mediocre. USB 3.0 can handle 1080p60 and with the C920 doing 1080p30 this just isn't much of an upgrade. I would've thought replacing such a renowned and well regarded webcam in the lineup would warrant a bit more than this.
+ZIZ Ng They don't do 4K, per say. They shoot in 4K, then downscale in 1080p for editing, then upscale the 1080p to 4K so people can watch a 1080p with a way better bitrate on youtube (by selecting 4K).
Go back a couple dozen videos. THIS is a MAJOR improvement. It used to blow out your ears if you were using headphones. Had to mute the video in the beginning or take off my headphones.
What they should do is keep the intro song at a fixed, comfortable level, then use it as a reference as they master every episode. This way, sound volume levels will be more consistent not just within episodes, but between different episodes as well. That's just how I'd do it.
Is it doing it in software on the computer or software inside the camera itself? Cos if it offloads the work to the camera, it might be worth while. Otherwise there's already a lot of software out there that can do this on your computer with any camera.

Rates will vary by system of course, based on factors like the controller bus. Macworld suggests 640Mbps maximum. PCWorld confirms the same. But in the real world, many computers won't get this because manufacturers tend to place multiple ports on a single controller. 400 is realistic. I'm not full of crap (I wrote it).

Unless your doing a talk show or newscast, the face cam should rarely cover more than a ninth of the streamed video. If you are doing a newscast or talk show then you shouldn't be using a webcam.

The drop in sharpness on the 60 fps setting is because it is pretty obvious it's upsampled 360p or something, not the marketed 720p which is a really big letdown
You can get a C920 to output 720p @ 60 fps, but you'll need to hack the firmware and drivers to get it to work, and you'll need lots of lights for the tiny sensor to capture enough light per frame to make it any good. I have no idea if this works on windows, but I successfully managed to get a raspberry pi to stream 60 fps h264 from a c920 over a network. And no, it wasn't just taking 30fps and framedoubling it, all the frames sent were unique. So considering that I already own a C920 that can do 60 fps, would the C922 be still worth it for the background removal alone?
You know why I love LTT? Audio. So many RUclips channels have some loud intro with super-quiet V/O. Every time I hear the LTT intro song I expect to have the V/O be quieter and have to turn it up. I never have to for LTT vids.
I purchased the C922 pro today (and the Yeti microphone). This is my first time to use a camera. Need it for webinars and I have no idea how to use it - yet. I chose it because it was the "latest" version and I compared it to the C920 in features in the product description.
That is pretty neat Luke. That has definitely be a tried and true webcam, for most people. I have yet to grab one myself since I have need for it yet. Will you guys eventually cover the up and coming Razer webcam, "Stargazer", I think. Keep up the great work.
What you guys failed to show off was hardware acceleration and sync when using XLR mic+ Audio interface , most cheap webcams you need to setup a audio delay because the XLR mic process's in hardware faster then the cpu driven software based webcams , this is why a lot of us got the old C920 in the first place, its got hardware processing on the actual webcam
***** well just saying not everyone would like to reach behind their desktop to unplug it. Not everyone has easy access to the back. I don't use webcams so I really don't care, just saying depending on setup simply unplugging might be more work then you think.
I bought this camera yesterday and was happily surprised you guys put up a video, but unfortunately I'll be returning it. Between obs having to run in 32bit for the chromacam to be detected as a source and your background basically having to be a solid color I might as well get a cheaper camera and a green screen. Things in the background are constantly popping into the footage and I have to wear a hat for my entire head to be captured, as it cuts my hair out.
At a previous job the C920 was THE webcam we bought, because it quite simply was the best. Nice to see its got a boost, and was totally unaware of its association with game streaming.
Maybe in person it looks better but the 60fps and the quality looks just as bad/good as the c920 to me. The hair aliasing looked usually worse on the c922 in the examples IMO.
Great review. I have an old IMac and the onboard camera aint cutting it anymore. I think I'm going to score one. The focus speed seems to be pretty fast. The background removal software would be fine in a pinch but it puts a funky glitch in the video. I'll stick with chroma key.

Its nice to know that webcams aren't dead yet but it seems like its not much of an upgrade to the original C920. 60p webcam isn't something I really care about and the background removal takes too much CPU resources that I'd rather just go with a greenscreen. Have both C920 and C922! Mainly I just needed a good second cam for my channel since I was broadcasting at a convention on my Twitch channel for a personal view and audience view. C922 is amazing and I can finally not prepare time to set up a green screen anymore!

Ah, so this explains why Logitech had the C920 on Gold Box deal a few days ago. I have to say, while I'm intrigued by the 60fps mode, as a non-streamer I probably don't get much out of returning my 920 and waiting for the 922 (especially given the jump in cost relative to the sale price).

I already have the camera and I recently bought the capture device for an unrelated project, and it is pretty much the only way I've found to get a better video experience than my old C910 (as in the model before the famous C920). Am I losing anything in the experience?
While I wouldn't mind a better webcam, I'm in no rush to upgrade. I rarely if ever put facecam in my videos and the C920 is good enough for quick vlogs. If anything my next camera purchase will be a proper camcorder or a go-pro

I've done this when I was a teenager. it wasn't necessarily a high Def cam, but I didn't have a webcam so I used a dazzle component and my mom's camcorder as a webcam and it worked. only downside was that the date and time was always on screen. I even took screenshots and cropped them to take photos of myself when I wanted my photos on the computer as I had no scanner or digital camera either.
Honestly, I was happy at first with the camera - played with it a little & thought wow... no green screen? Then it got to actually streaming.... Even with a better light set up (that I paid for after issues) - the camera will eventually throughout the steam, slowly lose every part of your body until BAM, you have an eye left on the screen & that's it. Countless crashes whilst playing games & my rig is pretty decent, camera malfunctions.. Bearing in mind you get what 3 months free xsplit? That eats your CPU like no other? Then you add this camera and it's hell Not as good as this review made out, works (every so often) & may cost you more in the long run to get things perfect ...
I wish one of those "action cam" companies like Gopro would make a webcam, proper actual lens, optical zoom, great quality. I also wish companies would make webcam mics something you can unplug because to me they take up too much space for something a lot of people wont use.

Even with a better light set up (that I paid for after issues) - the camera will eventually throughout the steam, slowly lose every part of your body until BAM, you have an eye left on the screen & that's it.
Countless crashes whilst playing games & my rig is pretty decent, camera malfunctions..
Bearing in mind you get what 3 months free xsplit? That eats your CPU like no other? Then you add this camera and it's hell
Not as good as this review made out, works (every so often) & may cost you more in the long run to get things perfect ...
Nobody mentions Testiculum, of course.

Just me, or is Ed getting jacked?
I wish one of those "action cam" companies like Gopro would make a webcam, proper actual lens, optical zoom, great quality.
I also wish companies would make webcam mics something you can unplug because to me they take up too much space for something a lot of people wont use.
