The problem lies deeper, Ter Stegen has struggled consistently in the UEFA whereas other goalkeepers like Courtois have bailed out their teams in the biggest of moments. Don’t get me wrong, Ter Stegen has been brilliant over the years but he has crippling confidence issues. When Liverpool bought Alisson, the defenders started playing significantly better because a confident gk results in having more secure minded defenders. Also, Ter Stegen is the fucking captain, he’s severely lacking in leadership skills in this situation. Then after the match didn’t even have the decency to take responsibility for it but instead blamed Eric Garcia. Also MATS has been costing us games year after year-especially in UCL. Yes Ter Stegan is a good ball playing GK. However, he missed a lot. Most of the misses he is making nowadays, are not made by the average EPL GK. As you said, the red card was a fault of both of them. But you have to accept that he is not good anymore in case of only saving the shots. He’s been involved in a goal against every single game he’s played this season. - Yesterday, he lacked situational awareness and is the reason the player was “onsides” for the goal. When he stopped being the last defender the offsides started working. Yes he was the “CDM” but during the goal he was the last defender and defending…. The position he WANTS to play - vs Monaco, he lacked situational awareness and asked for the ball while marked and a player also in front of him that wasn’t the mark. On top of the stupid decision and red card. - the game before that, he loses his positioning to press, presses horribly and we get scored on. It’s a history of mistakes for him too. That’s WHY we loaned him out and he’s still doing it. Raphinha, has a history of wasting chances, not being able to dribble and juking himself….. but he runs a lot and scores goals that come from great assists and plays from his teammmates doing the hard work, but let’s glaze him because he runs fast and a lot. Keep protecting these average players but do it when they get us eliminated from another competition or embarrass us against our biggest rivals too. You’re the first one to call them out when it’s a big game like that but you defend them all season long
Ter Rible Stegen is not a tournament GK. He fades in big matches. He is a day-to-day La Liga GK. Calencia, Getafe, Alaves... sure. But CL? No way. Germany knows it, Neuer knows it, Flick knows it, and Barcelona fans most certainly know this.

If I was Hansi I would’ve put Pedri in the double pivot and trusted Pablo torre in the CAM position, the reason why is because Eric isn’t a really good as a midfielder. Pablo torre did really well in Pre Season as well Pau Víctor, but for some reason Hansi don’t play them and in my opinion they should get Play time when we have Injuries.

Yes Ter Stegan is a good ball playing GK. However, he missed a lot. Most of the misses he is making nowadays, are not made by the average EPL GK. As you said, the red card was a fault of both of them. But you have to accept that he is not good anymore in case of only saving the shots. He is like a statue in front of goal most of the time of blocking.
We need to stop sympathizing for players. We are Barcelona. No one should go to the extremes and “be happy” about an injury or send death threats but we also shouldn’t accept mediocrity and excuse it.
MATS has a HISTORY of making mistakes and screwing us over in big games. It wasn’t “just one mistake”, it’s a constant occurrence.
- If we’re being completely honest with ourselves, we would’ve been better off with Peña vs Monaco. He’s more nervous and cautious on the ball, if he doesn’t see a clear pass or is being pressed well he kicks it out. That would’ve saved us in that very specific play. Instead of playing to the marked man, he would’ve played to the side, if he waited to long he would’ve cleared it and Garcia wouldn’t have got a red.
Garcia doesn’t get of for free. He’s been involved in a goal against every single game he’s played this season.
- Yesterday, he lacked situational awareness and is the reason the player was “onsides” for the goal. When he stopped being the last defender the offsides started working. Yes he was the “CDM” but during the goal he was the last defender and defending…. The position he WANTS to play
- vs Monaco, he lacked situational awareness and asked for the ball while marked and a player also in front of him that wasn’t the mark. On top of the stupid decision and red card.
- the game before that, he loses his positioning to press, presses horribly and we get scored on.
It’s a history of mistakes for him too. That’s WHY we loaned him out and he’s still doing it.
Raphinha, has a history of wasting chances, not being able to dribble and juking himself….. but he runs a lot and scores goals that come from great assists and plays from his teammmates doing the hard work, but let’s glaze him because he runs fast and a lot.
Keep protecting these average players but do it when they get us eliminated from another competition or embarrass us against our biggest rivals too. You’re the first one to call them out when it’s a big game like that but you defend them all season long

Ter Rible Stegen is not a tournament GK. He fades in big matches. He is a day-to-day La Liga GK. Calencia, Getafe, Alaves... sure. But CL? No way. Germany knows it, Neuer knows it, Flick knows it, and Barcelona fans most certainly know this.

If I was Hansi I would’ve put Pedri in the double pivot and trusted Pablo torre in the CAM position, the reason why is because Eric isn’t a really good as a midfielder. Pablo torre did really well in Pre Season as well Pau Víctor, but for some reason Hansi don’t play them and in my opinion they should get Play time when we have Injuries.
