Well, apparently some got that designation on the sides, some got SD40-2, and some got SD40N, but they're all SD40-2's rebuilt at UP's shops in North Little Rock. But sadly it's pretty rare to see them in road service.
Yeah, interesting to note that both times I've seen that train come out of the yard in the past month (West Colton to Tuscon I believe) it's had at least one of the rebuilt -2s on it.
The hoppers at 0:26 I always see at the facility near Beaumont Hill. Some are sitting around doing nothing our coupled with two locos. Cool vid also!
So cool I've always wanted to work for the railroad a childhood dream job
I saw on the sides the designation was SD40-2N. It's nice to see them again in road service though!

Awesome video! BTW the colton flyover is finished

Great catches! And technically, those aren't SD40-2's, they are rebuilds designated SD40N...
There's a nightly transfer job to West Colton Yard from Barstow.
Sorry for dumb question, common for BNSF train to go on the UP track towards Colton?
never seen this one.
