Davefilms345 what would it take to get the studio versions? Maybe we could start a go fund me or ask elon musk 🤔
@@macthemec I'm not sure what it would take to get the studio versions released. I mean I don't understand why they don't release them.
@@davefilms345 Whilst Arista Records released the original soundtrack, they DO NOT own the rights to it. The rights for it belong to United Artist Pictures, whose parent company is MGM, according the both copyright © and phonogram sound recording ℗ symbols contained in these source images:
jeffhealey.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/02-Road-House-OST-back-cover1.jpg
jeffhealey.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/05-Road-House-OST-CD1.jpg
Now, in case you don't know what the © and ℗ symbols mean that are listed on just about every vinyl record, cassette, 8-Track, CD ever released, and in the video description of every topic video on You Tube, I'd suggest that you read:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_recording_copyright_symbol
They basically mean that who ever's name is listed after the symbols owns the rights to it. Sometimes this is the record label. Sometimes its the producers, or the artists themselves. When the record company doesn't own the rights to album, they enter into what's known as a distribution agreement with either the artists or the producers who do own the rights to the project and then the record label gets a certain percentage off the album sales or off the streaming revenue. But these distribution agreements can expire after a certain period of time. As in this case since Arista Records was then owned by BMG at the time of the soundtrack's release, but it has since been acquired by Sony Music Entertainment.
The reason why this version was never released on the soundtrack is another result of Jimmy Iovine, who served as the album's producer, modifying the film versions to suit what he felt would sell on the soundtrack. He did this also four years earlier in 1984 when he served as the executive producer on the "Streets of Fire" soundtrack. Many songs on that album were also modified from their original film versions. There was one such incident where Jimmy Iovine edited down The Fixx'es song "Deeper and Deeper" from six minutes, which is heard in the movie's ending credits down to three minutes on the soundtrack. The Fixx protested Jimmy Iovine's decision to MCA Records executives and they compromised by agreeing to release the full six minute version of the song on The Fixx'es greatest hits album "One Thing Leads To Another: Greatest Hits."
