Boy Better Noel no, it’s not the real commonwealth games because fencings not in the commonwealth game, they have there own but it’s a bit average because the best country’s at fencing aren’t in the commonwealth.
Max reviewing my sport makes feel like I've achieved something. P.S. we're not a posh sport anymore since it's become widely available to the general public in recent decades (Epee is obvs the best)
Don't know if you are going to be reading this three years later but I wanted to let you know that fencing competitions will often feature lile 20 of those going off all over the room at slightly different times and sometimes with slightly different sounds. I somehow manage to block most of this noise while fighting and can even manage to focus on the beeps that are ment for me and my opponent but people that have accompanied me to tournaments have often complained about the near constant beeping.
The only time I've held a sword, tbh was while I was absolutely knackered in the basement of a fraternity. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have followed a dude into his basement on the promise of him showing me his sword.
I've been a fencer for 4 years, unfortunately I had to stop cuz I had no money, in my club we used only sabres, though sometimes someone would bring a foil, and I have nothing to say about épées apart from the fact that it's just the French word for sword
As a fencing instructor it's always funny to see kids meeting a left-handed opponent for the first time. If they fight against them regularly they tend to shake hands as automatically as they would normally shake hands on the street but the first time I can often see the gears in their head turning while trying to figure out how to shake hands. This also happens to a lesser degree after their first fight because you shake your unprotected (usually the non-dominant) hand and most people aren't used to doing a handshake with the left hand.
1:14 you’d be surprised how friendly fencers are. I mean you must both consent to being stabbed. So you must both be friendly enough to do this, and I think fencers tend to subconsciously stray from the violent nature of original fencing, additionally most fencers understand that a better mood means better playing, if you think, you die.
Most fencing instructors worth their money also not only teach how to use the weapon but also respect and propper etiquette. It is similar in most martial arts but I can only speak about fencing from experience. Many things that might be common in other sports but also seen as disrespectful are offences that can get you sent home from a tournament. For example the fighters perform a greeting before the fight and to the same greeting and a handshake afterwards, purposefully denying your opponent the greeting or handshake can get you send home by the referee because it shows poor sportsmanship.
I don't know but max fosh videos are really good if your not drunk but also if you are. I think he edits his videos when he's drunk but films them sober. Just a thing to think about.
I don't know how bad his eyesight is without glasses but the mesh isn't much of a hindrance to me. I could see the need for glasses making it exponentially harder to see through though.
“Pret, alletz”
“Pret a manger”
I’m in tears

You are both very right
Is it classical ? What's it called ?
Any idea ? Anyone ?
No it's always appropriate
France: Bonjour
Germany: Hola
Makes sense
am German, can confirm
I learnt some German some years back. Elementary level. I had to go back and question myself about the Hola 😂
Isn't it Guten Morgen in German ?
@@amulyamishra5745 Thats good morning. We were taught to say Hallo 😅

I went to Lord Farquaad’s Fencing Academy and I am personally offended.
same
Should've said "Foiled you" at the end there. Missed opportunity!
It wasnt foil tho
the commonwealth gold medalist is so humble
'champion over here, i kinda want to fight you now' - Max was definitely chatting her up

😆😆😆😆
She let him have the last point 😂
I represented my university at fencing back in the 80s. Our team came last, every time, and I gave up shortly thereafter. Just thought I'd share.
As someone who's fenced for half their life and loves the sport this video was perfect
Hopefully epee (the real sport)
@@38yearoldhitchikerLol, as an epee fencer I totally agree with you here
@@saidhuizar2893 as a saber fencer i completely disagree

This is so refreshing to see my sport properly represented! so many videos which wash it over, but you've made an accurate portrayal. =)
4:21 an absolute classic move 👏👏
I’m still on the fence to be honest.
This shouldn’t have been a streetsmart episode should have a episode of un-conventional
The beeping in the background made me keep pausing the video and think I was going crazy
aww she gave him a sympathy point haha
As someone who does fencing, this was very funny! :D
Actually my fencing club was founded by a guy who took up fencing bc he though that it was the easiest way to get into the Olympics
Collab with James Veitch please!
As a past fencer, I do approve of this video
That girl is awfully modest

Completely agreed with you until the end. Foil all the way lmao
Épée gang we out here
At least we're not Sabreurs guys (sorry Sabreurs, its easiest to gang up on you)
I fully agree. Épée is just better. You don't have to worry about priority, just stab the guy before he stabs you
I have a feeling that the equipment and place to train is a lot more expensive than football, basketball, volleyball etc
3:33 "I didn't even like your drag race" low blow hahaha
this is awesome. i'm suprised he picked sabre, seeing as it's the least common weapon
I wouldn’t have many limbs left if this was the Middle Ages 😂😂😭
My gosh, when the beeping started at the beginning I thought my house was on fire 😂😂😂😂 cheers to having your fire alarm sound the same

If a shooting weekend was 0 and The Royal Family was 100 on the scale of posh, fencing would be slap bang in the middle
Not really, go along to a club or a competition - the majority of people are not at all posh.
3:33 Well that was a lie. We have literal video evidence
How is it that when Max Fosh was filming at my uni is the exact same time I was out of the country 😂😭
the same hand handshake and the end gave me second hand embarrassment
