I am definitely subscribing and going through this entire series. It's nice when you follow along with someone who, when something doesn't work, actually shows them fixing it instead of correcting something offscreen. I ran into every issue you did, and those problems (like the characters running drunkenly) actually teach you something when you see them and what fixes it. Plus you talk at just the right speed.
Most helpful unity tutorial out there for me. Every tutorial out there, everything works first time. With you bugs happened and you solved them without cutting that out. Subscribe, great content my guy!
This was great! I really liked how you didn't just blindly drag/drop assets but took time to explain why each component was necessary and what it did. I also found it helpful watching you debug live when things went wrong - I'm new to Unity and don't always know how to start debugging issues with assets that I'm importing.
Phenomenal video, can't wait to dig into this series. I love how instead of editing out any mistakes or complications, you explain your thought process through solving it. Cheers for the great work, it's appreciated
hi great tutorial, i think its important to maintion that both characters should be set as Humanoid in the rig, because the game objects names in the skeletons are different and this can be an issue if they are not both on Humanoid rig type.
really useful thanks, I can confirm that this worked with the PolySci-Fi city assets from Synty in unity 2021.1.15. My robot guy looks pretty slick running around lol...subscribed.
Hi Mate, This helped me a bunch, thanks for making this. Only real constructive feedback is you were a little quiet, but nothing turning the volume up can't fix. I've just moved over from a top-down point and click game and wanted to incorporate cinemachine into a third person controller. I didn't even know cinemachine had this example in their pack, so this helped loads to get started! Thanks again.
No problem, glad it helped! I’ve just started using cinemachine and I’m loving it. Thanks for the feedback too, I’ll look into my mic levels going forward, cheers.
Thanks bro ..youre the first to show me how do it the right way.. with those SYNTI CHARACTERS.. can you make a third person shooter tutorial with SYNTI ASSET GANG WARFARE ?
Outstanding tutorial. please keep up the good work and your channel will explode! Best tutorials I've found - most people leave us half way through so we can't finish anything - please don't do that to us.
Awesome tutorial dude, I'm going to work through the series. Only criticism I would have is that I don't know how useful it's going to be to make this project without delving into the c# code for the controller and stuff. It would be cool to learn how to set up a proper character with state machines and stuff eventually. Super good though keep it up and thanks
Hi nice video dude... Step 1: Unpack both the 3rd Person and SM_Character Step 2: Delete the Body and Skeleton on 3rd Person Step 3: Just copy Root and Character_Female_Face_01 from SM_Character Step 4: Simply paste it under the 3rd Person Gameobject and reset the tranforms of -> (Root and Character_Female_Face_01) Step 5: Change the animator avatar to CharactersAvatar. These steps will help u for fast progress ;->
I am new to Unity and love your teaching clarity and pacing. I make some rigged characters for unity. If you want to use them for your videos, or just to check out, let me know. I have a bunch of videos showing the models. Thanks again for the series. I've been searching for exactly this!👏
Weird grid on your FREE LOOK CAMERA? I had this problem and found that you have to uncheck Game Window Guides in the free look cam component. Kiwi dude's was already unchecked when he created it. Nice video btw, thank you for your work.
I have been protoyping with the Synty Assets. These videos are awesome! I am not an animator and I am having a lot of issues trying to figure out how to make some simple animations to interact with props using the synty prefabs. It would be amazing if you could do some videos for extending the animations and customizing them in those asset packs.
Hey, thanks! I have a couple of videos showing how to hold a weapon, and animate it. There is also this video which shows how to pickup a coffee cup from a table: drive.google.com/file/d/1ZEBzcFU8N1pl3LOQGZqLciXbXrQXzm3S/view I'll get some more videos up on this topic as soon as I can :)
@@TheKiwiCoder That would be fantastic! Thank you for the video pointer. I have been searching and searching but there are special little hurdles using a purchased asset. These are some of the first videos with Synty assets that I have seen which surprises me a lot. I just can't for the life of me figure how to use the Unity Animations with the synty prefabs. I'm certain its just some super simple checkbox I'm not clicking in the right order lol.
Hey! It's freaking good stuff! But do you know maybe how to fix: when I move my mouse quickly, camera don't go as this same speed as my mouse sensitivity, but when I move my mouse slowly it's good. Thanks in advance.
@@TheKiwiCoder Nop, there s no scene, nor 3rd person controller script when you download from the package manager, at least 2.6.3 doesnt have, i checked every single file
Thank you for making this stuff. I learned a few new things! Can you make a toturial about the Animation Rigging System, where you explain the Two Bone IT Constraint. I have seen on Unity that you can place animations on a specific game object that serves as a target. However, I haven't gotten 100% through that yet!
@TheKiwiCoder When you open the enum dropdown, just type L to bring up all options starting with L - it actually starts on the LeftShift option, as it happens.
Thank you so much for making these. I think you are my favorite tutorial creator because you KNOW what character and camera movement feels smooth and professional, and you explain things in a very approachable way.
Hmm had to install the new input system to get rid of a ton of errors. Must have something to do with the Standard asset download. I'll try just pulling out the anim's.
I would love to see a bow and arrow third person setup, swopping to sword and zooming on aim using cinemachine. Also show how to setup an enemy that can kill the player by throwing a spear at him perhaps and use a club when close? You can use Erika Character from Mixamo for some nice bow anims. I tested them already. Just set them to original pose and humanoid. Thanks.
this is fantastic - looking to get more into how to create my own animation flows and edits to the movement without having to know all that Euler stuff ;-D
I could be missing something really simple, but when I test my game, the animation tree works but my player runs in place. Do you have any idea of what could be causing that?
@@TheKiwiCoder Thanks for the quick response! I'm pretty sure, since I created my character in blender and used free Mixamo animations, there is no root bone, so I am going to have to go back and fix that.

same problem here!
There is a max speed property on cinemachine, try increasing that.
Ok, little fixed. In cinemachine brain on your camera, change "Update method" to "fixed update". It's not perfect but better than earlier.
is it possible to make first person using cinemachine ??
this is a URP project Or Core project ????
I love the vídeo i just need a help to make the camera more soft
Do you know why the character model have light passing through it in the shadow? Cause this thing is happening with me everytime
Yeah you need to change the shadow bias/normal settings. I was surprised too that the default unity settings look so bad.
where I can get the cinemachine character controllers?
