I bought a trashed (but surprisingly working) GameCube for $7.50. it has a substantial amount of fluff mixed with dead bugs inside. Not sure if worth working on it. Just taking the top off triggers my gag reflex.
Nice video! Thanks to you, I was able to clean my Gamecube that was stuffed full of ~25 pieces of dog food by my siblings... Helped me learn the ins and outs of this system!
The Retro Future Hey long time no see! I have a Nintendo Switch I hope you can fix (if I can send it to the UK.) The things I want to repair is the screen it every damaged, the corner they really annoy me, and the back it’s again very damaged! I hope I can send it to you I live with my parents and I’m in Middle School and I don’t have that much to pay for the repairs but I can see if I can
Little tip for fellow people who hate the top logo plate to look nice and sparkling, toothpaste!! Rub a bit of toothpaste on the pate and it will remove light scuffs , you’re welcome
i dont even know if you'll see this but you wouldn't do this video again with your new recording setup and now years of expertise would you? this is just my favourite console of all time so i love seeing content on it, cheers, stay safe!
Glad I found this! I picked up a Gamecube a while back but only recently got a power cable for it since the owner had everything but that included (it was a flea market and they left it at home, but since they gave it to me for like 10 because of that I couldn't say no. Plus they said it worked still anyway), and its has a lot of dust to where I'd rather not risk turning it on with it still inside the case. Will reference this once I get the right screwdriver in, thanks!.
Just tried to clean mine for the first time..Not too bad, but I will say, we released we didn’t have the right philipshead size for removing the heat sink. Given the time, just had to clean what we could. Getting the controller port back in was a nightmare though. Can confirm it works as intended!
Guess I'm gonna have to start cleaning my consoles too huh :p Im sure they really need it, especially the older ones (snes-n64-gamecube) that I've had since year of release... yikes...
Just bash out the tools haha! Listen to some music or something as you do it. One tip I haven't mentioned is using an ice cube trap to keep your screws in order. Maybe label the little slots 1 - 10 (or however many slots there are for ice) then just do it all in reverse. Good luck :)
Would you recommend this to a inexperienced person? I got my GameCube for 1 year now and never opened it up and deep cleaned it, I always just cleaned the outside. I heard that the gamecube is complicated and difficult to build apart and rebuild it. Sorry for my bad English im from Germany :)
I've always wanted to repair game systems like you do but I can't take apart and put back together a nerf gun and have it work except for my nes but that doesn't count because I just replaced the 72 pin and there are thousands of videos on that :(........and my dad did it
Takes practice man! Gameboy's are really easy and basic consoles to take apart to get experience. I would suggest trying a gameboy color or a gameboy pocket.
Just finished cleaning out a gamecube I got from a rummage sale following this video and it wasn't the easiest thing in the world. Definately start with a gameboy or I personally found the N64 to be pretty easy also
The power button is jammed and My little brother got it from Granny house and I will to clean it whit a q tube to clean if that don't then Idk maybe you guys can get me some ideas how to clean the power button the gamecube because it's been jammed and pushed down
@The Retro Future My gamecube fan doesn't spin and it causes my Gcube to over heat and shut off. Will cleaning it fix this or do I need to install a new fan?
When I went to Lowes, they hardly sell anything for Electronics... The only thing I could buy is a toolkit by Kobalt, it's the Black and Blue labeling. It's a Electronics set within a Pouch... It's got a piece that's a Rod you put into the screw driver to make it longer. Theres Hexagon shapes... those are the same screw shapes that the Gameboy cartridge and NES, SNES have. A bit of warning though. The 2.5 and 3.0 for the Hexgon dont really fit the Gameboy cartridge and the SNES... but eventually it does open the Gameboy carts... just not the SNES ones
Just bought a gamecube, ended up being owned by someone that defenitely smoked while playing. Trying my best to clean it and get the smell out now, d u have any tips?
I took apart an AGS-101 Gameboy Advanced SP just to replace the shell with one of the limited edition Pikachu ones. Cause heck if I was gonna pay a ton of money just for a cosmetic change. Good practice good practice. I pull out my old gamecube. It's disgusting. Needs a clean. I look up this awesome video and I'm like. This is A LOT more work than the tiny GBA...
Sorry for being a year late, but yes, there are 2 Gamecube revisions. One is the original launch where it comes with both AV Analog and AV Digital ports and another revision around late 02-03 that removes the AV Digital. It is common for the NA Platinum models to have the 2nd revision.
Just a friendly word of advice. I know this video is 3 years old, so I hope you've changed your tactics. If you make a how to video and then speed up the most crucial parts. Its kind of counterproductive. Putting everything back is honestly the most crucial part. You speed it up and request that if we get lost to watch the video over again, but that would mean I have to watch the video backwards.
I can see this guy as a surgeon " yeah this the heart right here you just set this to side don't lose it ,its quite important"
FullMetalMarshmello XD

you're editing is getting better, good job
Cheers man! Glad you liked it.
best gamecube cleaning video I've ever seen man. thanks so much
No problem!
i bought a gamecube for 37$ but it super dusty, i looked through the vent and i cried
I bought mine for 2 pounds 10 years ago so...I’m fucked(granted I play it all the time)
I bought an orange one on eBay, it’s yet to arrive, but I assume it is going to need a good clean.
Thanks man. I got one for 20 dollars at a consaignment shop. It was all covered with marks, but works.
So, if I just want to clean the vent, can I stop at that step?
I need to do this my GameCube was in a closet for so long
Even just giving the outside a wipe down can be enough! Makes a huge difference.

You deserve every like you get!!
Seriously amazing tutorial, thanks for making this
You're welcome!
Damn thanks for speeding up the video on the only part I need top notch quality
Are the screws those special 3 gap screws or are they basic screws?
7:00
You are not the only one ahah 😉
Really nice video !

The frontal controller port plate has yellowed a lot somehow. How do I fix that?

Elliot Crespel that ice cube tray is a great idea
Yeah, my bad - little typo.
lol I hadnt even noticed anyways :p
I didn't either, obviously haha.
Yes i am watching in 2020...... thanks for the video. Time to go give my GC some TLC ❤👏
needed a gamecube teardown video and didn't realize it was you! this is quite old lol
Thanks for the video❤

Sorry for my bad English im from Germany :)
Not real enough. No roaches.🤯🤣🤯
This really helps me
My GameCube memory care slots don’t work that good and idk if it’s the cube itself or the card.....should i clean it the way he did?
I like ur playstation in the background
Can you use a blast of air to clean it also?
Any tips on supplies to use? Compressed air? Contact cleaner at all? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm very strange the fan pcb is just one big plastic piece in my gamecube also i dont have the spring on there (it was never opened before)
Hi dude I want to know what tools do you use for cleaning Nintendo's Systems. Thanks for helping me to clean my consoles, greetings from Venezuela :)
Hey dude! If you check the description of one of my newer videos, every link is there!
The Retro Future thx bro!
@The Retro Future My gamecube fan doesn't spin and it causes my Gcube to over heat and shut off. Will cleaning it fix this or do I need to install a new fan?
Im sure you probably found out but cleaning couldnt hurt. But if its not spinning its probably something electrical so yeah replacement of fan
Where can I get a gamebit screwdriver like that?
Amazon!
I got to know what song this is please tell me 😀
What’s the intro song
Does anyone what type of screwdriver you need for this and where I could find it???

A nintendo gamebit
Will this stop my GameCube from turning itself off? If not then how? Because I did bad to it, it in good shape and hasn't been play on for years.
That sounds a bit more complex than just a clean. Maybe try a different power supply!
Will this increase GameCube speed? My GameCube is olddd and it’s starting to get slower, I notice lag while playing legend of Zelda majoras mask 😡
I want to ask, how do I fix a GameCube that is rusty on the inside?
Maybe try some Brasso on a rag?
Thats only if thats the RF sheild which is rusty, if its the actual board then im not sure.
The Retro Future, I will give it a try thanks
Just bought a gamecube, ended up being owned by someone that defenitely smoked while playing. Trying my best to clean it and get the smell out now, d u have any tips?
Try using dryer sheets. If you have the console apart, you can leave a sheet or two in each part overnight and that should help.
@@Kane-B thank you! ill give it a try
now i know how to clean a game cube
I have that exact gamebit screwdriver
Got a new power cord for my gamecube
Heard that serotonin inducing startup sound
"No disk"
Sad
Ah nevermind. Nice video
ah yes. I have found it. ill watch this video to see what I can do.
Nice guide. Thanks. I don't want to alarm you but I think you're turning American.
Dave Johnson what’s wrong with being American
Plugging the faceplate back in is so hard, I'm struggling 😭

This is A LOT more work than the tiny GBA...
I never knew the power supply was in the bottom
Instructions unclear, punched myself in the face.
I just wanna make sure my games will perform at their best despite all the scratches on the front, back and sides on the game discs lol
I have the purple on. I’ve found it for 10 bucks. It has that smoke stain to how do I get rid of that ?
Yeah I bought one for 35 smacks and it’s got stains all over it. But with a little persistence and some cleaning wipes I will overcome. Optimism baby!
I think my GameCube is a Different Model or something
