- DAIN uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to add extra, in-between frames to video to make it more smooth and/or increase the video frame rate. It can be used with video or with a sequence of images, and works with both real life video and illustrations.

I'm grateful for this tutorial! I've improved the choppiness of some old 8mm film my mother has of when she was a child. It looks so much more smooth and lifelike!
I'm attempting the same thing. Can you share your process and what your 8mm->converted video specs (format, fps, etc..), and any other processing you did to enhance and clean up?
This is amazing! I did not imagine animation videos nor camera-recording videos to be capable of being increased into having 60FPS or even as far as 120FPS! And the fact that it's not even limited to just video-games only, is also outstanding too! =D

Thank you, ive been lookimg for a twixtor alternative. This being open source gives me hope for it eventually getting made into an openFX plugin
Hope they do a MacOS/AMD version of DAIN
After Effects and Premiere Pro both have built in frame blending that work just as well as Twixtor imo.

@@laurent9537 That's what im planning, but I need more capital for a motherboard that supports KVM. Still, I prefer openFX stuff since It can be used with everything, including davinci resolve, which performs wonderfully on linux
Disclaimer: DainApp is completely useless unless you have a supercomputer of a GPU with a ton of VRAM to burn.

So Im trying to interpolate an anime opening 3x and after almost 20 minutes there's 2% done out of the 2 mins of the video and my pc is burning hot and jet engine loud lol, it's in 1080p split 3x
Just checked the interpolated frames and they're full of ugly artifacts on just plain color

When I press the "Split source video into frames" button it keeps saying "Error" and "Crash" right below it. I have a feeling it as to do with the output folder I chose. What I did is I made a new folder and put the video I'm using in it and then select that folder. (What I'm saying is that I need help in case you didn't know)

How is it that SVP 4 can run interpolation in real time, using very little CPU or GPU (it can run on either), but this is so heavy? Is there something extra happening here, so that they aren't comparable?
How do I sync the original audio to the, say 60fps png sequence using Premier or any other softwares
You would need anything that makes a sound in the audio but you can also see it making the sound in the video. Then you can line up the visual part with the audio. A higher framerate doesn't change that process as long as you don't use that higher framerate to slow the video down. Then, of course, you have to slow down the audio with the same rate.

What if you dont have video but frames of it, would it work then? What other formats it supports beside Mp4/video.

After choosing interpolation multiplier can I change output fps? Because I dont see any difference in my source and final render. And it should be like in 900fps.
I i tried to start dain.exe under windows 7 Pro.
Python 64 with Launcher was installed.
I could see the opened command-box, but not the contents. It was closed again without anything happening.
What can I do?

Try installing Visual Studio Runtime Redistributable
If that doesn't work, try opening DAIMAPP.exe in a command prompt then you can see if there's an error message to show why it's not working, in my case it warned me that Visual Studio Redist wasn't installed.

Hi. Whenever I try to use dain, it comes up with this error where it says Windows 3 error, complains that it crashed, and says that it can't find the directory.
Does anyone know how to make these interpolations into 4k?

Good question. I am working on OBS tutorials right now. I think it is the best screen recorder available right now.
0.38 and 39 open it, but freeze, but 0.40 just opens a blank Command Prompt window and then disappears right after.

Probably Topaz Enhance Video AI. There's a free trial, you can get it. Works best with no other programs running though.

No, I did everything. Unless it was because I downloaded a rar, then I don’t know why. Once I open DAINAPP.exe, a command prompt window pops up and then disappears.

No, 10 - 11 VRam it's a lot, it require minimum a new 3090 RTX card or professional GPU's. Video editing is way more demanding than Video Games.
It doesn't even open! It remains stuck in the console window without the GUI (Dialog box). What can be the problem? And yes, I do have an NVIDIA GPU

You can do it on Google Colab
Have you tried the Interframe2 plug-in for Avisynth?
Easiest way to utilize this is by downloading the Hybrid program though. It is completely free and was quite famous back in its early days

You can't do it. The graphics on the CPU on Chromebooks are WAYYYY too weak and not powerful enough to run these applications. You need a CUDA enabled NVIDIA Graphics Card.

I tried it. It does a phenomenal job. But, it’s very demanding application, and takes ages to finish the output. It’s only useful for ultrashort videos or GIFs.

@@SmartGR2014 I don't know about hybrid and SVP, but I know that you cannot use DAIN app with AMD or Intel GPUs, but you can use RIFE on Flowframes (with NCNN). However, RIFE is really good, and can bring a one minute 30 fps video into 60fps in about 2-5 minutes with my 2Gb of VRAM. DAIN app will take a lot longer and sometimes looks worse. If you want to learn more about this stuff from more experienced people, I recommend joining NMKD's AI software discord server. Those people will be able to help you a lot more.
