    Yeees Sir! I made this today for my hub's dinner. Usually he chats during mealtimes but he got down to serious eating with this cabbage dish. Quiet with satisfied "yum" noises. He quickly filled his plate with seconds and said you are definitely making this again! Thank you Mr. Ray!

    The diagonal cuts are so lovely. I really like that cut. That is the same kind of bacon I enjoy using. It's nothing like a good cast iron pot. Thank you so kindly for sharing all your cooking wisdom. Wishing you a wonderful, fantastic day.

    Awesome Food , an so easy to prepare . We usually have this about 2 times a month ( like every 2 weeks ) . My Nonna - Italian grandmother She made it very similar to this after the cabbage was roughly 1/2 way cooked down She would add 1-2 tablespoons of Tomato paste an around a 1-cup of Chicken Broth an allow to cook off most of the broth . Oh yeah an the Sugar ya can't forget that Sugar !!.
    Looking thru your other recipes on man that's the food I grew up on in The South ,
    Hunting season we would get several wild boar , Some Swamp Cabbage .
    Sadly you are hard pressed these days to find a restaurant that you can get Pork Brains & scrambled eggs . An the hog head cheese you get at the grocer is a terrible failure next to the real thing . Fridays was always Fish Fry at the local marina, living by The Gulf the Seafood never ended. I remember once thinking ole man fish again , being a kid I was unaware that Seafood for many were a luxury meal ( you know the grass is always greener ) It was rare we ever had Hamburger meat other than meatloaf . The Ole Man would raise 4-5 cows for a couple years an 1-2 would get sent to the Butcher Shop an the meat would get divided up between other family members . Mom had a 1/4 acre garden for vegetables , an we had all kinds of fruit & nut & Citrus trees . All was good till I stayed at a friends house one nite & came bath time . They had Hot Water that came outta a Spigot . I thought everyone had a big pot they used to heat water up on the stove 🤔, would you look at that 🤣

    I do put a little sugar in my cabbage just because somebody said a little sugar in all your vegetables brings out the flavor of that vegetable without making it sweet....unless you REALLY add sugar...lol.
    Thanks for a great recipe. Sort of a light meal anytime of the year but especially during hot weather. Jesus bless.

    This does look absolutely delicious, question, did you add any oil to your pan for your sausage or your bacon, or do they both just make their own? Also you mentioned that the cabbage makes it's own water? I thought that the cabbage should be boiled? Thanks

    • @concernedcitizen4031
      @concernedcitizen4031 2 года назад

      Cabbage has alot of water in it that cooks out of it. You could add a little to make sure it doesnt stick in case your pot or pan is too hot.

    My cooking game has truly been enhanced since I started watching your videos😊 my mom boiled it to death when I was a kid(hated it) then we moved to Cally & she learned to make it your way minus the sugar & peppers. I use peppers , but not sugar which I'm going to try. I'd only use sausage when I didn't have bacon, but I'm going to try them together. Thanks Ray Mac!! (I tell folks I attend your cooking school)😍

    That look so good. I have never had sugar or bacon in my sausage and cabbage combo but I will try it especially since you said it was hellified good. 🤣 Plus, bacon makes EVERYTHING better. And thank you for adding measurements! I listen to the ancestors but I like having measurements too. I will be trying this your way very soon. Every recipe of yours that I have tried has been a winner! Keep ‘em coming.

    I think I'd cut up a Vidalia onion and brown that up too.
