I'm going to be the white guy here and say it; damn, damn, damn, that looks incredibly delicious. I was fortunate enough as a child to live in a part of Stockton, CA, and had a wonderful experience in eating soul food from a few friend's families. Some of the best dishes I have ever had growing up. Don't say poor, we were all poor in our neighborhood, but rich in food, and to me, that was everything; some of the best memories I have of that time came from those families and around the food they served and shared with me. ; ) I'll definitely add this one to my recipe list.
@@barbarabonge5071 I was merely trying to express my love for this dish and soul food, and from the families that introduced it to me, and in a way that I thought would be appreciated and respected... that food is one great way to bridge the gap in building great friendships despite our differences.
Hahaha what a small world I was born and raised in Stockton Cali on the Eastside chilling at Del Mar park😱 some good eating coming out of the San Joaquin Valley with all that agriculture this kinda food is down my alley mmmmhhhhuh💥💯
Mr Hydden, great comment. I spent my later adult years in the east bay. (Earlier years in New Orleans in poverty.) Stockton has Mexican food! I remember driving down the valley to eat lengua and to die for chicharrones in Palmdale. I learned to cook at SF Zen Center. While these foods are undoubtedly delicious, they look like heart attacks waiting to happen. Using powdered garlic when Gilroy has garlic galore? Fresh ground pepper isn't that hard to come by. I'm a vegetarian but there are many ways to cook and vegetables and spices make the difference.
This was a different twist on cooking cabbage. Thanks for the recipe and I must try it with everything you put in it. I am sure it will be a hit with my family. Thanks for this amazing video.

Tammy I'm really trying to learn how to cook, and this recipe was easy to follow and delicious.I left out a lot of salt because of high blood pressure but it still came out great.
I haven't heard "shell" used for vegetables since shelling crowder peas, limas, butter beans, cowpeas, and black-eyed peas from the garden as a kid. I love fried cabbage. This looks delicious.
Watching your video made me hungry I am going to try it Going to the market and get all the ingredients Thank you for making such a delicious dinner my family thanks you God bless you
I'm going to make this today, in regards to the cabbage, a whole, large cabbage already has as much sugar as a soda in it. Soda at 39 grams, cabbage at 40 grams. Don't add sugar. It's got plenty ;)
Thank you Tammy from MD. I had been wanting to make this for a few weeks. I finally made it this evening. The one thing everyone should take into account is the prep time. Since we don't have souz chefs for this...account for that time. This was a knock it out of the park entree. Paired it with some honey cornbread. Wife was ecstatic.
I have been craving this dish lately! Now to make myself go to the grocery, even as scary as that is right now. The best and easiest way to core cabbage, and get out some frustration is this...take the head of cabbage, hold firmly with both hands, then with the core facing downward, bring it down firmly and whack it on the counter. Done! All you do is flip it over and pull out the core, cleanly and very efficient.

I made this for dinner tonight and it’s so delicious 😋😍
I'm going to be the white guy here and say it; damn, damn, damn, that looks incredibly delicious. I was fortunate enough as a child to live in a part of Stockton, CA, and had a wonderful experience in eating soul food from a few friend's families. Some of the best dishes I have ever had growing up. Don't say poor, we were all poor in our neighborhood, but rich in food, and to me, that was everything; some of the best memories I have of that time came from those families and around the food they served and shared with me. ; ) I'll definitely add this one to my recipe list.
Cool!!!! I use to live in Stockton.
Your color brings nothing to this recipe!
Why oh why did I watch this at midnight? Now I'm starving! 😋 Looks great-can't wait to try this soon! Thanks!
This was a different twist on cooking cabbage. Thanks for the recipe and I must try it with everything you put in it. I am sure it will be a hit with my family. Thanks for this amazing video.
Made this last night! Absolutely delicious! My husband ate the leftovers for breakfast this morning. Made the recipe exactly as Tammy demonstrated. So good!! Shared Tammy's recipe with my friends on FB Will be making this again for sure. Yum!!
I plan on making this very soon. You made me hungry just watching u make this.
Lol....U will definitely enjoy this recipe!!💯
I'm literally at the store getting everything for this dish RIGHT NOW! 🤤
This is like the 5th time I've made this recipe. Love it.
Idk why but I find the sound of the knife smacking the cutting board very satisfying.
Brooklyn!!!
I was looking for a quick cabbage 🥬 meal 🥘 because I don’t feel like cooking this Labor Day and I just finished making this but with Turkey bacon & Beef sausages including some yellow and Orange peppers 🫑 and it’s SO GOOD!!
Thanks for this!
😅
"Swawsauge" is my new favorite word.
LOLOL! I know. She's so cute!
"You'll be cookin' it for EVAH!"
"Add it tuh the colanduh."
She has to be from NY
I know right?
been using this recipe for four years now and it never fails! thank you😩😛
Looking at the ingredients listed this could be a good keto recipe. I've been doing keto for 6 weeks so I'm looking for tasty choices to keep me from cheating. You should do a keto play list for those who love southern cooking.
A keto play list would be awesome.
Yes, I was thinking the same.
Listen I hattttttte cabbage all my life. But babbbyyyy I made this yesterday and ate the whole skillet and will mostly make it again this weekend. It was amazing. I did omit the bacon because I don't eat pork and it was still heavenly. Thank you ❤😊
Glad u enjoy it!!
We used turkey bacon, and it was wonderful!!
@@cause4paws1 oh now I have to try the turkey bacon 😂
My family loves it that much also.
Did you use any oil when you omitted the bacon?
@@AC-dj8hk no I didn't. The beef sausage released enough oil. It was so good.
I was scrolling and accidentally clicked. Best accident ever!
🤣
Lol😂😂😂
Yummy
Me too!
This looks good, i watched it with my 16 year old son. After watching it, I went to the store and bought the ingredients and my son was like mom please DO NOT AFRICANISED IT AND ADD ANY HOT PEPPER OR GOAT MEAT PLEASE. 🤣🤣
Omg, I'm watching this video at 10:57 PM. And I tell you I'm starving, now I want some cabbage just like that with some white rice on the side. Yummy
Lol
Made this recipe and the aroma that filled the house was amazing! The boys could smell it all the way out in the shop and said their mouths were watering. We will definitely be making this a staple for meal planning, so good and easy to make! Thank you for sharing!
Yeah you got you some that night👌
Kitchen memories. 🤗
The lucky shop guys !
woooow
I'm with Ray Mack on this one. Definitely have to pace myself LOL. This is a great weeknight meal. I was a little concerned that it might be over seasoned but Tammy knows what she is doing. Everything blended together perfectly. Appreciate the recipes!
I've made this several times. The difference is I don't eat pork or beef. Instead I Used chicken sausage & turkey bacon. A Great Meal!
Ohh yes I’m doing this!
I just finished eating and this is making me more hungry, just the colors 😋
I love this dish, I make it all the time. Quick and easy. Great job Tammy.
OMG! Just finished making and eating this dish and after being married for almost 24 years, my wife put this in one of my top 5 meals! Thank you so much! And by the way, my wife’s name is Tammy!
Chris you're absolutely welcome. So glad u enjoyed this recipe. Oh wow...talk about coincidence. Tell Tammy I said Hi. Have a great evening!!!
Tammy I'm really trying to learn how to cook, and this recipe was easy to follow and delicious.I left out a lot of salt because of high blood pressure but it still came out great.
Ina's pasta and cauliflower
Thank you so
Much. My family really just enjoyed this.
Cornbread ! That’s how we do in the south.
I haven't heard "shell" used for vegetables since shelling crowder peas, limas, butter beans, cowpeas, and black-eyed peas from the garden as a kid. I love fried cabbage. This looks delicious.
That was Granny's language...lol
You’re a life saver!!! This is a perfect Keto diet lunch or dinner. Thank you!!
That's the same thing I was thinking. I try to eat keto most of the time and this recipe is perfect for keto!
Watching your video made me hungry I am going to try it Going to the market and get all the ingredients Thank you for making such a delicious dinner my family thanks you God bless you
HOLY-J- MOLY 😳
I had to drop my sammich~ 😋
To make room for SOME of THAT 💗
P.s.~ 🤷♂️
"If" you are not married ~ 😘 💗 💕
My husband is German and I made this for him. He absolutely loved it! Thank you for this delicious recipe.
I'm going to make this today, in regards to the cabbage, a whole, large cabbage already has as much sugar as a soda in it. Soda at 39 grams, cabbage at 40 grams. Don't add sugar. It's got plenty ;)
Wow! I didn't know that!! Thanks!👍
It has sugar? I thought I could eat cabbage on a keto diet? I've been eating it love cabbage!!
@@truly3743 It most certainly does. It's likely that all the net carbs from cabbage come from sugar.
OMG I've never seen a dish like this but I have to run to the store and get the stuff!!! THAT LOOKS AWESOME!
Tried it tonight, Tammy, and it was wonderful!! Thank you so much! My daughter and I are learning to cook with you ❤
I just ate a bunch of candy shortly before I watched this, and it still made me hungry! Great recipe, ma'am!
Great. Dish
There is no need to be afraid to continue life...go to the store, put on a mask, shop at least popular times, grab a few things and cook.
Coring a cabbage by whacking it on the counter is my favorite way to do it. I don't know if it's good for the cabbage, but it's sure good for me!!
SEE my suggestion above, on the core. chow.
@@steve-692 NO ! Don't wear a muzzle/face diaper !! There is NO need or sane reason for doing so - unless of course you are keen to abrogate your humanity and free will, for a satanic lie !
@@colliecandle I don’t want/like wearing a mask, but, I do so out of respect for others. I put it on just before entering and rip it off immediately after exiting. Plus, it’s mandatory in my state.
If they have to forcibly shove a long Qtip up to my brain (exaggeration) to find the virus 🦠 then why wear a mask?!
Thank you very much for this class Tammy and others. I retired a few years ago from the Infantry and am just learning these type of skills and RUclips really helps me train. I realize I am months late to say thank you, but maybe it will get to the host. If not, anybody else, you have a nice day and eat well! We are so lucky to be Americans.
I did this recipe and it was amazing! I also useda little bit of red cabbage because I had a bit left over, and it worked great. Thanks. My family was totally into this dish.
You go girl! You cook almost like my Mom. People should really eat much more cabbage; it's delicious and healthy.
I just made this delicacy for my mom! U talking bout good!!! Thanks Tammy❤
I've made this twice. It's absolutely amazing. Definitely a crowd pleaser!
How long to cook the cabbage down?
I'm loving how she got that Eastcoast accent but cooking a southern dish!!!!!!
She is from SOUTHERN New York.
IKR.... I kept thinking Rosie Perez.
I can't stop making this for my family! Absolutely LOVE this recipe!! 🙂
Thank you. I plan on making this soon! Looks so yummy!
This is fool proof! It was delicious. I’m not a cabbage expert and I followed this recipe and it was great! I used Cajun Sausage and everything went great. Definitely recommend! Use this recipe to look like a chef!! Thanks for the Recipe:)
I'm 68, and when I was a kid my mom would cook up some cabbage. When she cut out the heart of it, I would eat it raw until I got to the hard part. I remember it being...I don't know....spicy? It had a little tang to it anyway.
I used to love the middle as well, add a bit of salt and yum!
My dad still loves eating the core!
The center/core of the cabbage and the core of lettucebis great for headaches
Just came across this @ 3 in the morning......gotta give this a try! 😋
I tried this girl smothered turkey wings - it was so simple and delicious!!
You get A++ from me.
I'm going to make this as soon as the blazing heat of summer is over!
