  • Our final goodbye to Summer 2020 with a great day of trad climbing on the superb single pitch crag, Bochlwyd Buttress in the Ogwen Valley, Snowdonia, North Wales. This was my last climb before going into self-isolation ahead of my knee operation; it was certainly a fitting way to end the season and to look forward to getting my knee fixed...
It's a wonderful crag with gorgeous volcanic rhyolite providing excellent friction on a range of routes from an easy diff (featured in the video) up to a brilliant HVS and one E2 and E3 (not for me just yet!)

Great series of videos, especially that you show easier grades routes for us mortals! Thanks for sharing

Hey, thanks for that. I am also a mere mortal, so it suits me quite nicely 😁

Enjoyed that Paul. Looks a nice piece of rock, too often whizzed past on the way to the more famous climbs

Great video! Thanks for showing some gear placements too! Really helpful to a newbie!
As a little aside at 3:17, due to the 2d optical illusion that poor little blue nut looks like it is completely lost in a massive crack XD I know it isn't, it just looks funny on camera :p

Hi, thanks, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. It's amazing how much force even the small nuts can hold as long as they are placed well. Enjoy your climbing 👍

So did you walk down and take everything with you that way. If you both wanted to rappel down would you have to leave your anchor points up there?

Hi Joe. Yes, the walk down is short so it's good to walk down and do another route, though it is possible to set up an anchor and abseil off but you'd need a 35m rope to get down or twin 50m to retrieve them at the bottom.
