I agree. Look at what was done with Assault on Precinct 13? It wasn't a sequel however it was trash compared to the original. Sometimes a bigger budget doesn't mean a better movie. John's movies I have always felt were a reflection of the times when they were made and it's very difficult to recreate that time as well as appeal to the audience bases like before.
It wouldnt ever be the same. Some things are best left what they are. The magic of the original movie, one of the elements, was there was no CGI! Everything was practical effects. Those were real cars they used. And since it's such a rare care now and so valuable it wouldn't be possible. Christine is in my top 3 favorite movies ever.

Personally after reading the book, I like the book more than the movie, just for the fact that the story was more compelling rather than a random car driving on its own in Pennsylvania (I think, I can’t remember where the movie was set to take place) and the book had more going for it too
