Congratulations to the owner for keeping it graffiti free and non vandalised, for future generations of bats and humans!👍 It never ceases to amaze me, that you can still see the indentations of the sleepers in the old ballast...
As you said, it really does look like something from another planet! Absolutely stunning tunnel, and a saucepan too, who would’ve thought it?!! Very kind of the co-owner to give you permission to access and film the tunnel in the first place.
Thanks David and thanks for your continued support. The best tunnel I have been in and yes the owner was a real gentleman. The saucepan was a odd feature 😂 thanks again.
Certainly well worth the effort to get access to this tunnel. It must be pretty much unique in having no vents in a single bore of that length. It would have been a nasty experience on a still day if there was leftover smoke from a previous train! Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for watching. Apparently it was all down to the architect at the time who forgot to put in refuges and thought the natural incline in the tunnel would drive out the fumes! The line only saw a fe trains a day so I think that's how they got away with it. I would imagine maintaining the tunnel would require good timing or a closure.
Thanks for watching. It was a refreshing change to see one of the old tunnels being cared for and protected, a real treasure! Welcome to Facebook planning to put loads of extra content on there!
An excellent video, as you say very nearly another world in there!!! I wandered down the track bed on Boxing Day to the tunnel entrance and the block wasn't there then, but as much as I wanted to get inside I wouldn't dream of taking bolt cutters to the lock, some people have absolutely no respect for other peoples property. Mind you The Wife said she'd 'misplaced' a saucepan, perhaps it was her with the bolt cutter!!!!!
Thank you for watching as always 👍. A great explore and I agree some people have no respect. The saucepan looked in good condition as well!! Odd items like that and always a can of Carling!!
Thank you for watching. He said that firstly it's his tunnel and they are trespassing and secondly he wants it to stay original. I couldn't thank him enough!
Nice video middy. When I went Henry said the line was used during the war to deliver bombs for the RAF and they were just piled up alongside the local roads. Vic
Thanks Vic and thanks for watching. When we arrived he was just going out so missed out on the stories! Brilliant tunnel with a great ( and dangerous!) History 👍 good to hear from you again Vic 👍
There's only 4 YT videos on Withcall tunnel, and one is from 10 years ago, and one was you. So I guess we can narrow down who has been dumping junk in the tunnel. 😀
This tunnel is in great shape for its age. Graffiti minimal. Thanks for the tour, Pete. Appreciate it! ❤😊🇬🇧👍🇺🇸
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it. My favourite so far on this adventure!

Thanks for watching. Very good owners who actually care about it's history and it's future.
Fabulous old tunnel. Thanks so much, P.J.
Thank you and thanks for watching. I am not sure how I will better that one!

Superb explore and many thanks to the owner for allowing this visit ,the markers and ""gong" system are amazing survivors
Thank you for watching and I have passed everyone's thanks onto the owner. One of my favourite explores a real survivor from another age.
Great that you have passed the thanks to the owner , hopefully this will lead to more permission visits @@MiddyExplores

I'm so glad the gentleman is working so hard on keeping the punks and not to honest people out!

Thanks for another great video, keep up the good work. You missed a bat 🦇 that flew out in front of you
just after the 23 minute mark!!
Thanks for watching and your kind comments. I will have to watch it again! Didn't see any on the day but they do go past at the speed of sound 😂

@@MiddyExplores Neil said he'd forgotten about your visit. The ballast a bit chunky to walk on wasn't it !
@@shortangrybloke we were lucky just caught him! The ballast was a nightmare I kept tripping up on it!!

Thanks for watching. Certainly not me! I only ever leave footprints! A shame that not all people do the same
How freaked out would you be if when you shouted someone else shouted back!
😂 you would have then seen the fastest man through a railway tunnel.
@@MiddyExplores 😂😂😂
Yeah, I thought it was really spooky. Quite surprising to not see any refuge recesses for the permanent way railway workers
