Thanks for sharing good to see its still there, we only got to the tunnel mouth as it was starting to get dark, way back in the early 1970's. I now live on the other side of the world in Western Australia.

Cool video, cheers for makign it. I am confused about why they would not have any refuge areas in such a long tunnel, it makes no sense.. It would be brilliant if you get permission to go through Standedge tunnels. I've seen a few great videos of others going through it, but always good to see others.

Cheers. I did see his recent video and did ask him, but he was not really forthcoming with info on how to get permission, I think he knows a friends who works for Network rail, hence the invite for a guided walkthrough with some workers. I did see the other year after researching the tunnel after watching Martin Zeros brilliant walkthrough that they to offer to rent out the tunnel to groups and film crews etc, but from what I remember, it costs a fortune to rent out for a hour or two.

Looks wide enough near the track level to stand either side? or would they have just laid on the ground if a train was passing.

Good explore. It's pronounced "withcul" not "withcall" Surprised the owners didn't mention it!
How many minutes would it have taken to walk from one end to the other without stopping?

I think I must have reccied the other portal a few years back it has a long supporting wall. The other tunnel on this line I know as South Willingham tunnel . I filmed a few of my explores which im now putting on my channel.
