Interesting trio of videos As a old roystoner born and breed in can safely say that the sections covered in royston have looked like what you’ve seen for over fifty years with some 50years of vegetation growth and that trackbed as always flooded in heavy rain I was lucky enough to walk those sections a couple of years ago when it was dry
Thank you ! Please subscribe to the channel and you will find the whole route of the line between stairfoot and Wakefield in a playlist Called the Barnsley coal Railway 😎
@@exploringthepastandthepres9793 yeah up side of applehaigh view, when you were stood on the road at summer lane bridge its litually there, all of its sidings were on the other side of the bridge as you head to the old coking plant and royston drift. theres loads of station that are now not used demolished or just neglected, barnsley main station was cool sat on a viaduct and the midlands station next to it, gutted isnt the word, beaching did alot here in barnsley
The old station building on the opposite side from Station House, is still complete. You need to go into the small industrial estate, called New Lodge Foundry. There are more modern industrial buildings, but you can clearly see the Station building made out of stone. Its now a powder coating buisness. If you went onto New Lodge Foundry, youd easily see it. Im sure the guys would let you have a look around.
Great video, these disused lines keep turning up some relics. Keep it up 👍🚂

Thank you Ashton, it was a Fabulous day, you’ve done a grand job as usual. It was great finding that fastener and the remnants of the tramtrack.
Thanks for exploring with me 😁! Was great wasn’t it ! And yes despite all the vegetation ! Still a lot to document ! 😃
Great video. My house backs onto this old trackway and have often tried to find out more information about the line and the locos that ran on it
Thank you !
