I've never seen Deep Purple replicate this solo live and I always thought maybe it was just a one off studio performance never to be done again. And I never see this solo get any love on "best guitar solo" countdowns. My dude you are an absolute legend for being able to pull this one off.
Ritchie always said he slowly forgot the original solos and started changing them. There was a live album called Powerhouse recorded in late '69 where the solo is pretty similar to this one.
I always thought it would be impossible to replicate this solo. Man, you really nailed it. One of the best solos in history. But man, replicating it is one thing - Ritchie has actually come up with all those wonderful licks... it's easy to forget that someone had to actually COMPOSE that solo in the first place ;).
Just to think the original was played on Gibson 335. For me Its the best solo ever and was recorded in 1960/70. The tone on the original album was sublime (AC30 I suppose). This blew away anything else done at the time. Deep Purple MK1 were thrown off a tour supporting Cream in the US, as Blackmore killed Clapton every night. It’s not difficult to see why...
My friend, as a heartcore deep purple and blackmore fan, you have left me speechless... by far one of the best guitar covers i have seen here on youtube... wish I could play like you. Greetings from Ecuador
i thought it was impossible to faithfully recreate this solo - dude that's spot on! congratulations I have no idea how Ritche came up with this, one of the most original, difficult and absolutely amazing solos of all time
Yo diría que es aún es mejor el solo de Child in Time en la versión en vivo del Made in Japan, pero de cualquier forma Richie Blackmore siempre improvisa por eso nunca oirás repetir un solo aunque sea miso tema
For those who speaks english ... nope this is not a fake. Anyone who play (I play over 25 years) can see that this is not a fake. Maybe he just don't play in the same position (which I doubt) but this cover is great.
One of the few solos , that even when you see how it’s done (and very well done here !) you still can’t believe how he came up with it. Apparently he only had 20 minutes left of studio time and just went for an improvisation. Still my favourite Purple album and my favourite RB solo. Blackmore for me is a cross between the abandon of Hendrix and the technical but soulful playing of John McLaughlin in his Mahavishnu Orchestra days.
Petar Ristic - I just had to have another listen to your outstanding work. As I said before, this performance is/was absolutely superb! I have no doubt Ritchie B would be proud of you...
I had to watch this again. I seen Purple in 3 times. Ritchie Blackmore never played the beginning part of the solo and I have no idea why...... Again, one of my favorite all time guitar solos. I burned the grooves out of Deep Purple in Rock way back in the day. GREAT JOB, PETAR - GO MAN GO
Petar my friend. I want to let you know how much you've inspired me. I picked up the guitar because of this. And when I can play this solo as well as you, I can say I've learnt to play the guitar. All the best ❤
Fantastic job man fantastic! I've watched every live version of deep purple playing this song that's available and Ritchie Blackmore never ever has played it like the record, and now he has the gall to say it's a throwaway solo? it's the most brilliant solo he has ever done and he has never played it live like the record and you did! Fantastic job man!
I was always in awe of this solo. I don't know what scares me more, that Ritchie improvised it or composed it. These pentatonic licks and phrases have so many nuances and are so well articulated that it blows my mind. How did Ritchie come up with that stuff? I never even thought of trying to figure out and play that solo myself :)
What even surprises me more is how Blackmore improvised all these solos, all with varying moods and feels, without making them feel improvised. Gates of Babylon, Spotlight kid, Light in the black, Stargazer, Mistreated, Wolf to the moon and others. Sure there are some lazy ones in his catalogue but, to create all these different interesting solos on the flight is just ridiculous.
Najbolji solo ikada!., bravooo brate!, vrhunski si odsvirao!.. Moj tribjut za Deep Purple & Jon Lord-a: Uros Stanojlovic - Early keyboards playing & demos
A reply to all the people below who think Ritchie and this solo are overrated. It’s the most underrated solo because most rock fans only have the attention span and musical appreciation for AC/DC and the like. They are great at what they do. Most people haven’t heard Child in Time because they can’t be bothered with brilliant musicianship/wouldn’t know the difference between virtuoso level playing and basic/brilliant Angus Young. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen all think Ritchie is brilliant/one of a kind. I saw him at his peak live with Purple on the Machine head tour in 1972 and on Rainbow’s 🌈 first tour in 1976. Still the 2 best rock gigs Ive ever seen. Apart from his playing Ritchie’s presence and performance was also the best I’ve seen.
Fucking hell man that was awesome. Note for note PERFECT. One off my all time favourite solos of the 70s I really couldn't imagine anyone but Ritchie playing this so true to the original but you nailed it.
Great job man ! That is one of the hardest solos to copy, let alone write. Ritchie Blackmore is so underated ! He's a far more technical player than Jimmy Page, although I have a lot of respect for him too. !
I have to say that you nailed it buddy, your timing was off just a hair in a few parts of it but this version was the best ever recorded for Child in Time by Purple.I only heard Iommi play it exactly like this a few times, then the band altered the way it was played, for what reason I don't know, probably the difficulty factor on stage to get it bang on everytime was probably why.You nailed it my freind and it was a joy watching you play it through,I am going to learn it as you played it in your video, again thank you for the awesome display of guitarship.
Yes sorry about that,I was listening to something else at the time and made that big mistake.Although both play guitars like a champ,"Very,Accomplished in their art".
HOLY SHIT! Anybody that can play that solo that accurately had to to put some time into it. Thank you for a superlative effort, VERY well done my friend. And thank you for posting.
Well done - this was one of the solos I dreamed about playing - and I bought the album the week it was released!! I have worked out snippets of the solo, but not all of it.
At first I thought this was impressive, but then I figured it out. You notice that you can't see the guys face. Thats because this is actually Ritchie Blackmore practicing before recording the album. He ain't fooling no one.😁 Hey, who scalloped that guitar neck ??? it looks great !!!!!!!!!
Absolute perfection! This used to be my favorite song, and I've listened to it probably 5,000 times over the years. I couldn't tell the difference between your cover and the original.

Great man for sherin that information. Glad to know that Blackmoore actualy could do it.
Blackmore
Blackmore mostly improvised his solos with some recognizable riffs in between.
Best Blackmore solo ever. One of the best rock songs ever
I always thought it would be impossible to replicate this solo. Man, you really nailed it. One of the best solos in history. But man, replicating it is one thing - Ritchie has actually come up with all those wonderful licks... it's easy to forget that someone had to actually COMPOSE that solo in the first place ;).
That's why he's Richie Blackmore and we're not!
infidel heretic Exactly.lol.
the thing is - he didn't compose it, he improvised it completely, which makes it even more badass

Eduardo Páez Me too
Eduardo Páez Was Johnny Sins from Ecuador?
J A yes
Absolutely!
The fact that nobody on RUclips has yet to even attempt it at this speed is a testament to how mindblowing the record actually is
I always wish that Blackmore's solo were longer...
yeah because this one is like... short...
NO, every solo needs a good ending.
yeah, but that good ending could take longer to get to :P
Give Richie a break. Longer solos by him could cause major injuries.
Live in japan
And people believe that "Stairway to Heaven" solo is hard...
I'm sorry but I think the historic solo at MSG in 1973 is something from another world...
polonus0 in live version starway to heaven wins because her duration is 3 or 4 minutes
Listen to spacetruckin' made in japan, 20 minutes of nut bustin'
Stairway's solo isn't known for being hard
Vyo yeah stairway to heaven is har
child in time is improvsing all the people can play child in time
I can watch this 100 times. Bad ass man. My favourite guitar solo. Ritchie was a master.
This solo is VERY cool. Damned genius that Ritchie
"It's the wonder of nature, baby!"
HEY YOU GUYS! WAHOOO!
Best comment yet.
i thought it was impossible to faithfully recreate this solo - dude that's spot on! congratulations
I have no idea how Ritche came up with this, one of the most original, difficult and absolutely amazing solos of all time
The best guitar solo in musical history and you nailed it!
Petar, I have praised you before, but no matter how many times I run a cross this, it never ceases to blow me away! Thank you!
5 stars!!!!! WOW!. I used to listen to Child In Time, on headphones,
when it came out. One of my all time favorite guitar solos.
Absolutely superb, it must have been a hard grind to master this piece. Fantastic work!
Sounds perfect and amazing to me, you are very talented and hard working, keep playing like that!
Wow, I found my own comment back from 8 months ago. this is very nice cuz in the meanwhile I started playing guitar myself and your cover is great man
@@cubescubescubescaptain3708 Nice avatar and user, also :)
@@cubescubescubescaptain3708 And are you able to do this solo afther 2 years? :)
The best solo by the best guitar player...ever. Ritchie Blackmore.

hvala care pozdrav iz Trstenika :)
svaka čast, vrhunska svirka!!!
btw jesi u Trsteniku na Pelješcu?
exactly true. He was very brave to play along with the original because any flaws stand out. But he did a great job
I've loved this song for over 20 years, so glad you decided to upload the solo,I didn't realize how good Richie was till I saw this well done sir!
That was flawless!! Awesome job! One of the all time best solos and you totally nailed it!!
Fantastico! Bravo.
Excellent rendition . This is certainly not anything ordinary.. my hats off to you ..
One of the best guitar solos ever, and you do it real justice!
