Make your own bow press using a portable "pocket" press and a few scraps of lumber. Antler Geek Tyler Ridenour walks you through this quick and easy project.
Great video. For those that think this was a bow holder you probably missed the first part of the video where he shows the press. Great way to do this for a budget.
Thank you! for sharing your skill and knowledge. My local bow shop will no longer service bows that are not, or were not, purchased with them. So I will have to do the work myself and I was looking for bow presses and saw your video come up on how to build one with a portable press.
Nice. I used your design but put a bottom in and made a horizontal dato cut along each end on the inside and added a slide in lid so basically the bottom becomes the storage for all the tools used when the bow holder isnt being used... great easy and simple project man, appreciate it...😉
That is basically a stand, which is nice, but even more time/effort than I want to invest in this new slight hobby of mine... and you still need the pocket bow press. I have gone a much simpler route. Stick a 3 foot piece of 7/8 inch diameter wood dowel in between two couch cushions to hold it in place. Then tension your bow slightly by pulling on the bow string and place the bow so the dowel slides thru one of the cam holes that has rotated to the outside of it's limb. Make sure dowel goes well past other side of limb ( a few inches past cam). Slowly release bow string and you have released the tension on that side of the bow. You can now remove the bowstring and the cable for that limb. To remove dowel, you must have bowstring and cable back in place and then tension bowstring again till cam releases dowel and you can slide it off. To replace other cable is the same process with dowel in the other cam. Perhaps with some cam styles this method is difficult or impossible, but works great with mine. Pretty sure I'll never be visiting a bow shop. With some ingenuity and dozens of helpful RUclips videos out there.... don't see the need.
i'll be attempting to make one of these real soon. may I also add, put a bottom on it and you have a tray and then a door handle on one of the 2x4s to carry it. thanks.
I bolted 2 2x4s to a 2x6 so they'd pivot. Cut slots for the wheels. Put a chain, and turnbuckle to contract the 2x4s. I had some old neoprene floor mats that I used to pad it.
Awesome idea, thanks for the video! I'm going to build me one. Quick question... what adapters did you use with your Bowmaster press with those past parallel limbs? I have the Bowtech Experience and the same exact pocket press you have.
Nice job. You could easily make this out of a single 8ft 2x4. Maybe I will and post up a video of it. If I do, I’ll post this video in the description so others can see where I got the idea. -Nick 😃👍
That's all I use I also have the 2 claws that hook onto the limbs with a eBay adjustable single end bow Vice have never needed anything else. But you have a cool idea all the same. Elite enkore. Fuck just realised that this is 10 years old you are probably dead by now.
Bradley, don't worry about these tards, I doubt they could butter toast let alone ever make anything like this, these are the tards I speak of in my comment above😂😂🤣
A kisser AND a peep?? Not necessary imo. If you have a peep u don't need one.. Kissers are for comp archers who can't use peeps. It slows your string down..But Im sure you know this already..
how do you know what he needs and doesn't need, I use 4 anchor points and a kisser might slow your bow down by 1-2 fps max that's it they weight maybe 10 grains if that! And kissers are not just for competition archers that's the dumbest shit I've heard in my life! I know hundreds of bowhunters and 3d shooters that use a kisser/peep combo!
Great video. For those that think this was a bow holder you probably missed the first part of the video where he shows the press. Great way to do this for a budget.
Best tool every had one for years
Simple, no frills and very workable. Nice job--thanks for taking the time to share this.

thanks for the tip. just getting into compounds after shootin recurves and this is will be my weekend project with my boys.
We use the parallel limb adapter that Bowmaster offers. It's worked on most bows we've tried but doesn't on some that are extremely past parallel.
That's fringing genius. I am going to build one also. Thanks a bunch.
I’ll be making one....thanks for sharing!👍
Awesome idea, thanks for the post
why the title says bow press and not bow holder? i know i'm not the only one asking this but i am just very curious..

Great video bro . basically it's a gun butler for bow's awesome idea .
Very cool! Will be making one
I'll be making one of these..thanks
Great stuff. Just finishing up mine. Why is there not one of these made on the market?
Nice hack. Much appreciated.
OUTSTANDING VIDEO, THANKS!
great advice and design, tnx mate!

I did it, and I love it.
Great invention

Awesome thanks great video!
Good stuff. Thanks!
Good video. I need need to make obe of.them stands cause I'm a beginner at bow work and am wanting to eventually learn how to do my own work.
Looks like I've got a project for this weekend! One question - what'd you use to cut the slots out for the bow?
Nice. I'll be making one this weekend to re-serve my peep sight. Probably safer for the bow than clamping it into my work mate.
This is a great video as I am having trouble finding company that sells a bow press in Ireland to sort out my compound bow

-Nick 😃👍
I used a tie down ratchet with a loop on each end of the bow. It works perfect , you don't need to spend money on a press
Just finished this today had to modify the timber size for Bear Cruzer G2
Nice bow
very slick....

Nice
I see that holder but where does the press part come in?
👌👌👌
genius. ....
umm...kool! I'll try it...umm thx!!!
I like your bow what is it?
great idea. better than $500 + for a press and stand
is that a 2x8 or a 2x10?
Hi, which Mathews model is that?
Is that the MR7?
Ügyes!
Help too much..
Thanks man..
Well that is not a press. It's a bow holder lol.
indeed
Thats what he said lol.he didnt say he was making a press dip.
Bradley Dunagan i think your the dip. Read the title.
Bradley, don't worry about these tards, I doubt they could butter toast let alone ever make anything like this, these are the tards I speak of in my comment above😂😂🤣
Says bow rack for portable press you stupid ass Jeremy
soooooooooo, why didn't you show how it works? MUST NOT OF! LMFAO
That is not scrap lumber
umm uh umm. lol
thats a stand you're making not the press.
Do it yourself bow press? No?
wtf is that, it's just a stand for the bow you didn't press anything

@@SlammedBeretta Exactly right! Nough said... 👍🏹
a bow holder!!! NOT A PRESS!!!
Like he said, it’s to hold the bow while using the Bowmaster portable press.
Did I miss the part where you can press the bow? That's just a shitty wooden bow holder
Great video thanks!!
Help too much..
Thanks man..
